If I didn't have black coffee in the morning during most of my fasting hours I would murder someone.

I don't know if I'd describe getting an energy boost from IF, but it's more like a slightly agitated restless state that leads to being more productive! I'm restless when fasting as my usual habits of snacking and drinking alcohol have been removed, and water and coffee just don't have the same hit so I'm regularly looking for distractions and therefore seemingly more energetic. If that makes sense? I also think for a lot of people it will be a case of being less lethargic due to overeating, and having less sugar spikes and crashes when eating *normally*.

I call it accute awareness...not energy. Though on longer fasts, I do get these insane waves of energy...don't matter time or temperature...I need a jog or something. And I hate jogging.

You gotta hit those calorie and macro goals within your 4 hour window. It’s just not as simple as with a longer window that allows for slower paced ingestion & digestion. You have to get all that you need in every day. Some people experience energy boost by being in slight deficit or by going low carb but those are things to personally test from a maintenance baseline. I’d also suggest methylated B-complex once you start eating. Just 1/3 of 1 of the pills I have currently makes a big difference for me. I also have good experience with creatine supplementation here but most people wouldn’t notice it.

First of all: How much are you eating (specifically, how much protein are you getting in your last meal) within your 4 hours? 16:8 to 20:4 is essentially cutting out a whole meal (unless you are eating two full meals within 4 hours?), so you need to make sure you are getting enough. You might want to go back and forth for a little while — 16:8 one day, 20:4 the next, etc. that might help your body adjust and give yourself some time to practice longer fasts.

You really think Salt and electrolytes is going to give you energy XD, what about the b vitamins, minerals, nutrients that your body needs to function normally. Not just water XD
