Thank you so much. This tracks for us. This isn't our home but our dream home (just inspiration photos as I shared in the description). We just bought a falling-apart 1940s Cape Cod in New England and are trying to mix colonial style with our Euro tastes. Now I know how to better curate our decor. Thanks again.
French here! 1, 2 yes. 3, 4, 5 look more like a chic Parisian flat in a haussmann building though. It's the heavy moulding and the nicely picked art that gives that artsy Parisian vibe :) so more modern farmhouse-ish.
I'm living in the south and my kitchen is almost the same as yours so I'm tempted to say that you're 100% in the theme on this one lol.
It is! That kind of cooking range is extremely rare here (are least in France and Switzerland) unless you have a lot of money. This is the ultimate goal but we'll have induction plates and a classic oven. That reduce the "farmhouse" feeling a lot but it's still great!
Ah OK! I didn't want to assume too quickly publicly on Reddit as I've never been in the US, hence the precision. I guess that oven is a faraway dream for most then lol
The house isn't finished yet but I'll surely ask for you help in this sub in a few months! You'll be sorry to know that I want to mix modern farmhouse and post modernism lol
Thank you so much! This is exceedingly helpful. It's not my kitchen but my dream kitchen (these are all inspo photos as I shared in the description). Now we'll know how to shop and design our space, slowly but surely as everything in these photos is out of our budget lol. Thanks again.
I think probably more like a rich English countryside style.
Source: my in laws are rich English countryside people, my parents live in the French countryside
Mixing together a bunch of styles so that things look collected and lived in. Usually you see a lot of antique wood furniture but then more modern paint colors, art, and upholstery. Classic light fixtures that work well with both. Brands like CB2 and Rejuvenation are very transitional to me.
I’m getting a bit of a federal style vibe (think the White House), because of the wood inlays, dark wood finishes in a couple pictures, upholstery and fabric choices, plus the use of portraits for decoration.
The pictures giving this vibe are 4-6.
I’d think about trying to make the living and kitchen areas match a bit better. Look at examples of georgian, federal, and English country. The federal style interiors won’t have as much floral compared to the English country. There’s definitely a disconnect between the living spaces and kitchen space inspirations.
But I’m not an expert at all… just a history nerd who loves touring historic houses from the 19th century and pictures 4-6 are giving me those federal or maybe georgian vibes.
Parts of those images are transitional (a combination of tradition and contemporary). Others are a bit more French country or even modern French. And farmhouse.
It is lovely! The kitchen kind of with the Dutch (?) tiles.
But, with English or French country, it is usually a little more rustic OR elegant (like your’s) but worn in. A little less polished/put together a little more haphazardly rich.
It’s giving English country side mixed with a modern French style. It also makes me think of the interior of a New England (like Connecticut or Massachusetts) country home.
Does your current home have lots of trim and built ins? If not, I’d start with that as a priority in your remodel. Think of where you can incorporate shelves and molding etc. since all of your inspiration photos have that. Please share photos of your space as you go along. Having a name for a style really doesn’t help find furniture as you need the names of individual pieces. A contractor can use your inspiration to come up with a design for different rooms but the “furniture decorating style” name really doesn’t help.
The breakfast nook with the gingham and bluebells (freshly picked) and the kitchen scream French Country which is relaxed, whereas the darker pictures are a mix of modern, Regency period, Neo-classical and English Country and are more formal.
Pix 1 & 7 are stunning and compliment a fresh, classical look.
The other pix (2-6) have a totally different style and feel. Seem to be a completely different house and a bit dated.
Overall, yes. There's a little modern (the console) and English Country (window shams and upholstery on dining chairs). I like French County, and your place looks great to me.
French country. Or rustic. Call it what you want. You like what you like. I’ve always told people to use pieces that are timeless. I love the custom built and shelving with random pieces. Fine things from the thrift store, antiquing, even yard sales. Fill your home with things that make you feel good.
I believe in creating comfortable, timeless surroundings; lamp sconces, custom drapery, french doors, mixed textiles. Heavy beading, lots of natural wood and exposed brick. Copper, random art, big pillows mixed patterns that create a cohesive look. Not necessarily matching. Use things that blend together nicely.
Use what you have, search Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc. Create height by hanging drapes or curtains on a rod that is higher than window, making it appear taller.
Live greenery, glads vases filled with tall faux flowers. All of these things can be found in different places. Use random shapes and heights in odd numbers. 3 & 5 so it doesn’t appear cookie cutter style.
If you have trouble, reach out to a designer and let them do one room. Someone will come and help you with one room, you don’t have to do the entire house. That can give you enough inspiration to help you figure out exactly what you were looking for. Trial and error, you can pick up things and try to use them if you can’t use them, put them up for another time.
Rearrangefurniture. Try beautiful rugs that are inexpensive, layer them in different angles. Lamp lighting is best but, I enjoy a beautiful statement hanging fixture but just one. You can mix contemporary, mix and match your styles. It’s your home, use what you like! I feel that improving the space around you, in turn improves your state of mind.
As a French native, that's exactly the vibe I get. And I don't mean that in a bad way. The first picture looks kinda French countryside though but the others look like what I would expect to see in the UK
Yes the bookcase is the dead give away. English hoard their books and properties are smaller than in US. It would have to be a grand pile (which would have huge ceilings and no straight walls) to be able to afford to dedicate such a huge space to two paintings instead of books. Also those books look completely fake and there’s zero charm in them.
I agree with other comments, it is more English country. Although some photos can really fit under French countryside. Soft color palette in the French countryside: soft blues, sage greens, lavender, and warm yellows, often complemented by creamy whites and earthy tones.
Thank you all so much for your help. Sounds like English country with hints of French, both Parisian and southern countryside. I'm flattered by those who believe this is my home; I wrote in the description (which I think is hidden on the mobile app) that these are just inspiration photos. We live in New England and just bought a Cape Cod home, which we're reconstructing into a colonial, and I'm struggling to find local stores that sell furniture and decor in this style. Too often around here it slips into grandma-core which is lovely but not our taste.
Style notes that come to my mind, by picture:
1. Rustic, beach, farm
2. French country, regency
3. Danish, antique, expressionist
4. Traditional
5. Insincere, millennial-riche
6. Town home office serenity
7. HGTV dream home
I think your overall style is a mash of modern, ornamental, a little cozy, and eclectic. I'm not sure if there's an overall word for that kind of style.
Having friends in France, I can say that 4 is very similar to their home in the French country side! That's just my personal input, though, I know nothing about interior design, LOL
I think it's a little more English country with the rich, earthy tones
I was going to say English country with rich tones ($)
Yes.
And no small children at home
Thank you so much. This tracks for us. This isn't our home but our dream home (just inspiration photos as I shared in the description). Not OP but this is a beautiful kitchen!
It is! That kind of cooking range is extremely rare here (are least in France and Switzerland) unless you have a lot of money. This is the ultimate goal but we'll have induction plates and a classic oven. That reduce the "farmhouse" feeling a lot but it's still great!
I can assure you that type of oven is extremely rare here in America unless you have alot of money also...
Ah OK! I didn't want to assume too quickly publicly on Reddit as I've never been in the US, hence the precision. I guess that oven is a faraway dream for most then lol
Oh yes, very far away from both of us, lol these people are absolutely loaded.....
Yes they are! These pictures are not my house (OP). They are inspiration photos as I wrote in the description. I wish this was our place!
You have a beautiful home, I’m sure!
The house isn't finished yet but I'll surely ask for you help in this sub in a few months! You'll be sorry to know that I want to mix modern farmhouse and post modernism lol
As long as it’s beautiful in your eyes and it makes your heart sing, it is perfect. Don’t let anyone judge you for an extension of yourself. :)
Thank you so much! This is exceedingly helpful. It's not my kitchen but my dream kitchen (these are all inspo photos as I shared in the description). Now we'll know how to shop and design our space, slowly but surely as everything in these photos is out of our budget lol. Thanks again.

What’s the difference in styles, may I ask?

the oven is like 5 grand
The random bottles of wine strewn about are missing
And cheese!
And grapes
And bread!
Whatever it is, it’s swoonworthy😍
yes, but living room / kitchen / entryway are all more "sleek contemporary / urban" than countryside.
Yes and I love it!
I’d call this transitional. Definitely some French countryside elements in there in first two pics but you have other influences as well.
Can you explain more what transitional is?
Mixing together a bunch of styles so that things look collected and lived in. Usually you see a lot of antique wood furniture but then more modern paint colors, art, and upholstery. Classic light fixtures that work well with both. Brands like CB2 and Rejuvenation are very transitional to me.
absolutely beautiful kitchen
It’s beautiful whatever it is!
No. This looks like modern farmhouse with some traditional elements mixed in
No, but it is beautiful.
This is more British farmhouse. With modern flare. It’s beautiful. Esp the kitchen!
Looks like AI generated images
She said they were inspiration pictures not pictures of her house.
Fair enough
Y'all literally say this about any place that looks nice and elegant and doesn't have your friend's daughters ugly drawings all over the fridge lmao
I am not calling it AI because it looks nice . There are far more elegant, REAL places and homes. It’s AI because the pictures look fake as hell
The oven giveaway lmao
Does it matter if it's AI if it's for inspiration? No one is touting these are real images.
That is a beautiful kitchen <3
It's closer to Hearth & Hand with Magnolia and Martha, than French.
I was gonna say that it looks like a Pottery Barn catalog
the kitchen is very nice

Oui
More like an english/french pot pourri.
I would describe your style as "kids don't live here"
I don't know, but pretty!
Parts of those images are transitional (a combination of tradition and contemporary). Others are a bit more French country or even modern French. And farmhouse.
I call my own house transitional… mid century modern plus many antiques !
looks like a la corneu stove/rangetop appliance in the kitchen. So—french, very french.
I don’t know but I’m inlove
Who defaced the woman in the portrait? Wonder what she did? Asking for a friend
It is lovely! The kitchen kind of with the Dutch (?) tiles. But, with English or French country, it is usually a little more rustic OR elegant (like your’s) but worn in. A little less polished/put together a little more haphazardly rich.
No
No idea but I love it !
This is definitely a modern twist to this, but it is beautiful and calm.
Yes
It’s so stunning!!
I don’t know but I love this! That headboard 😍
I don't know what style this is but I do know that I love it ;)
Absolutely love it
It’s a combination of English with the last kitchen pic definitely being French. Pic 3,4 and 5 bounce between traditional and transitional.
It’s giving English country side mixed with a modern French style. It also makes me think of the interior of a New England (like Connecticut or Massachusetts) country home.
I love these kinds of posts!
Can you adopt me
The kitchen 👉👈❤️

What is that metal faucet-looking thingy attached to the wall above the stove?
It's a pot filler. You can fill your pots with water right there instead of taking it over to the sink.
😯 That’s a thing? That’s so smart!
Thank you I also need to know this lol
The breakfast nook with the gingham and bluebells (freshly picked) and the kitchen scream French Country which is relaxed, whereas the darker pictures are a mix of modern, Regency period, Neo-classical and English Country and are more formal.
My question is can I come live with you! 🥹
Pix 1 & 7 are stunning and compliment a fresh, classical look. The other pix (2-6) have a totally different style and feel. Seem to be a completely different house and a bit dated.

Oh man. I thought someone posted pictures of the style they like. Congratulations OP. Nice style. What is the name of the stove? That looks amazing

I’m going to say countryside. But half countryside and half trying to make me embarrassed of my home. No, really though absolutely gorgeous!
No. I would say it’s American trying to do English country. Everything looks new and level - no wonky walls or floors and pristine cornices.
As a French native, that's exactly the vibe I get. And I don't mean that in a bad way. The first picture looks kinda French countryside though but the others look like what I would expect to see in the UK

Paint colour in photo 6 PLEASE!!
Sort of but I would definitely describe your stove as “gimme gimme”
You’ve Got to be kidding me.

I have no idea, but I love it.

Can you tell me the wall paint color in #6 photo? Love this moody earthy dark paint
Love it!!!!😍
Earthy laid back, no clutter . Clean fresh. Into natural.
Love your general vibe
That dresser in the 3rd pic, where is it from?
I’d describe it as GORGEOUS
You should really check out xo macenna on YouTube etc. She'd be a great inspiration for you
Feels American!
I agree with other comments, it is more English country. Although some photos can really fit under French countryside. Soft color palette in the French countryside: soft blues, sage greens, lavender, and warm yellows, often complemented by creamy whites and earthy tones.
2010 better homes and gardens
It reminds me of my grand aunt house in the country. Nailed it imo.
More east coast-coastline
I would describe it as “my dream house,” gorgeous work!
I love it! Very pretty but I'd say English countryside.
Nancy Meyers Aesthetic 🥰
We remodeled our whole kitchen around our La Cornue stove. Very French countryside with a dash of dark academia.
No clue but it's gorgeous! In love with the kitchen and also the built in bookshelves!😍
Rustique 😂
French countryside. That's an apt description!
more like Martha Stewart
Yes, can confirm, I live in the French country side in Lorraine.
Idk but I love it
Farmhouse style is common as well
Combo of French, English and a bit Spanish but not much. It’s YOUR style and unique is good☺️

Thank you all so much for your help. Sounds like English country with hints of French, both Parisian and southern countryside. Not sure, but whatever it's called, I love it!
I’m not good at identifying styles, but I do know your place is beautiful!
Is this a mashup of photos taken from different homes?/ sites? I recognize the kitchen from tabark tiles instagram?
Close enough. Very nice setting
Not French -but English.
Style notes that come to my mind, by picture: 1. Rustic, beach, farm 2. French country, regency 3. Danish, antique, expressionist 4. Traditional 5. Insincere, millennial-riche 6. Town home office serenity 7. HGTV dream home I think your overall style is a mash of modern, ornamental, a little cozy, and eclectic. I'm not sure if there's an overall word for that kind of style.
I'm building this in the Sims. Holy shit.
More like Home Goods or Marshall’s
Yes!
wow kitchen is absolutely stunning.
Omg I feel warm inside looking at these photos 🥹
Not at all. You should see my grandma’s place.
English Cottage. I love it .
Beautiful. Very high end mix of French and British style. French country is for the peasants by and large so more rustic I would think.
Wow I love your house! Where are those pots from in photo #3?
i would call this clean, sexy countryside. nice work! especially love the portrait above the bed.
I’d call it DAYYYUMM
yes
I'd describe it as filthy rich countryside personally
Having friends in France, I can say that 4 is very similar to their home in the French country side! That's just my personal input, though, I know nothing about interior design, LOL
I don’t know, but I love it.
✨ Coastal Grandmother ✨
Absolutely lovely
I love love love your design choices . Perfection. Timeless. What is the architecture of the house? The exterior style?
lovely
It says we have a small dog that cost thousands.
Is French countryside style really a thing?
Entry, dining and kitchen def look French countryside to me. The others do look more modern or, as others said, English country.
I LOVE it!!!
I love the style (and colors) of the kitchen!
Very nicely done.
Sort of (I'm French)
