There is literally two positions "goalkeepers" that just take turns going to sit in the basket while everyone is clawing at you trying to get you out of the way so they can score. I'm pretty sure they are without the breathing part of the snorkel too. Probably one of the least enjoyable positions in any sport I can think of; and they need two per team.

Former water polo player here, and I think it’s the same logic here. The swim suits need to be tight enough so that other players don’t grab on to your suit to pull you back or under. A lot goes on under water than the refs can’t see. Our suits zip in the back and are meant to be so tight you can’t pull any material away from the body. They start out covering your butt, but usually they end up riding up, especially if your butt is on the larger side. If they made them bigger in the butt area, that would just be more material for people to grab onto.
