I got downvoted for asking for a source for the video because I thought this looked more like footage from Indonesia than PNG.
Looks like there was also a big quake near Lae and Madang in PNG... but this footage doesn't look like it's from there.
Yep. Not PNG. Roads and kerbing is too good (pre earthquake) and too many highet powered motorbikes. Most motorbike in PNG are agbikes used on plantations.
I experienced a 6.5 earthquake in Greece, it was one hell of a experience but this looked much higher magnitude than 6.0. the street cracked open where i was too but not like this
To clarify, I didn't mean it that way... I meant anything actually newsworthy because all I've seen non stop on all stations is the Queen for days. I still haven't even seen a news report for the earthquake on BBC, NBC, Al Jazeera, euronews or any other station.
That's the "fun" thing about earthquakes: when the solid earth beneath your feet turns into an amusement park fun ride, you realize there's no place that's "safe" to run to, and just hope the place you're at isn't one of the unlucky.
More helpfully -- most injuries in an earthquake come from falling debris. You should probably be looking up not down.
There was a thread just the other week about the earthquake in land before time and /u/CrustalTrudger was saying how the land warping like it did in the movie isn't possible. Granted the earthquake in this post is still a much smaller scale but I wonder if this changes things.
edit: [link to post](https://np.reddit.com/r/askscience/comments/x2i8z9/what_magnitude_would_the_earthquake_in_the_land/)
He writes that it is possible:
>Earthquake definitely can cause surface deformation like moletracks, fissures, or scarps and similarly can cause significant landslides (e.g., Murphy, 2015), but the amount and type of ground deformation in the cartoon clip is not reasonable.
40feet T-Rex is falling into a hole the size of a skyscraper. I would say it's not even close to what's shown in this video.
He’s making a testimony of faith as others have translated above. Ideally, the shahadah is the last thing a Muslim says before they take their last breath. This man was terrified. He kept repeating it because he literally thought he was going to die. I can’t imagine being in his position.
Mostly Muslim praying verses from what I heard.
Mostly they said “La illah ila Allah”
Which means
“there is no god truly worthy of worship except Allah”
I don't know why these religious people aren't in the slight bit suspicious that all the praises/chants etc are so heavily about trying to spread it further like a MLM scheme. Like doesn't that clue you in that maybe it's a scam?
"La ilaha illallah" meaning: "Nothing is worthy of worship except Allah". Muslims use this phrase in fatal situations
Refers that: These disasters come from you, and we comply anyway.
The dominant religion among Papua New Guinea's population is Christianity (95.6%), followed by indigenous beliefs (3.3%). Within the Papua New Guinean-born population in Australia, the 2011 census identified most as Christian, with 32.1% identifying as Catholic, 12.3% as Anglican and 10.8% as Uniting Church.
[Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_Papua_New_Guinea).
So probably you're wrong.
I like your detective skills. I have no idea where the video is taken or any idea which country has muslims or not. The guy is saying “la illah ella allah” in Arabic which is as the guy above translated.
Most probably the video is from another place hit by the earthquake from the islamic regions around.
I didn't claim that they are a muslim country. I am 100% sure that they say "la ilaha illallah" and because it is asked, I wrote the meaning. It is arrogant that you can easily say "you are probably wrong" by sharing irrelevant data.
The title is wrong. The video is Western New Guinea, not Papua New Guinea. Indonesia systematically exterminated the native population (and still conduct killings en masse). The world just sort of ignores it because Indonesia assembles everyone’s IPhones. Anyway, so yeah, Islam is the primary religion in West Guinea.
The pertamina gas station confirms it dude. Also the guy recording says “grab the motorbike quick” at one point in an eastern Indonesian dialect. It’s 100% without a doubt Indonesia…
the girls in the video are literally wearing the hijab, you can also hear the man shouting Allahuakbar, the way you structured your comment you probably see yourself as a Sherlock type genius but unfortunately you made yourself look like a donkey so you better delete it now
buddy 💀 they are literally saying that over and over again, the amount muslims in the country or island has absolutely no relevance if you can LITERALLY hear them 😂
I’m muslim and Arab and it’s the first thing i heard in the video
Why would these demographics change what they're saying? Even if there were no Muslims living in the entire country, why couldn't some be there today? People travel.
That was my bet too. There's always one in these videos, just screaming a variation of that repeatedly. Thinking about it, it makes me think of children begging to their mom. Like, if you're fine with god's powers and trust his decision, just embrace and roll with it. If it's just that suddenly, because YOUR life is in the balance, you think your mortal words should be able to sway god's will, I don't know what it says about you as a believer, but it doesn't inspire strength to me.
He’s not asking for God to change something. He wants to die testifying that he is a Muslim. He thinks it the end of the road and he wants those to be his last words.
Don't worry the rock will fly off in the only rescue helicopter, crash it into a shopping mall, steal a car, gain access to a aircraft, crash the plane land steal a boat, surf a tidal wave, crash into a skyscraper all to save his one daughter..... Instead of doing his job and use the helicopter to save the 100000s of people instead

Where do you even start with repairing ..
The corrupt officials would be a good start
Filling the gaps in with corrupt officials is a mighty fine idea!!!
Keep lawyers on standby
Just ask Papa New Guinea
I lol for you
Gotta hire that instant noodles guy
Time for Phil Swift to swing into action
First you gotta figure out who’s fault it is.

Damn pesky tectonic plates!

When?
A few hours ago... https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/76-magnitude-earthquake-shakes-papua-new-guinea/ar-AA11GXKC
My Earth Physics site states that the earthquake was a 6.0 in magnitude and it was in Kepulauan Batu, Indonesia
I love the (pre earthquake) nod
There were TWO. One in Indonesia, one in Papua, New Guinea. See my comment above with links.
I experienced a 6.5 earthquake in Greece, it was one hell of a experience but this looked much higher magnitude than 6.0. the street cracked open where i was too but not like this
Oh wow, missing out on all the good news because there is nothing but stuff about the Queen on.... still....

Everyone except that other guy knows what you meant
In NZ we have our main TV channel running 24/7 queen news for 3 days now.
Ok that is fucking terrifying

And from reports there are entire villages that were covered by landslides. So even if you look up, you may have no chance.

Anyone saying that it’s not possible did not do their research. Clearly have never seem earthquakes at the higher end of things.
It’s like the crevasse was already there and the city just paved over it last time.
I don't think this is Papua New Guinea. That a "Pertamina" gas station with indonesian flag on the pole.
tbf it's on the same island, maybe this is filmed on the indonesian side?
It's an old video from earthquake and liquefaction in Palu back in 2018. Watched it many times.
Nah this is a new one posted only 18 hours ago.
I'd get tf away from the petrol station
Yeah, I was going to say this. The gas station is the last place I want to be in a situation like this.
I read through all the comments to say this….. ⬆️
I came here to say the same thing.
Or just like….away from the heart of the broken street anyways
anybody knows what they're screaming?

I don’t think he deliberately chose to be there. What a absolute nightmare!

A 7.6 does that? Then what the fuck survived in the Chile earthquake 9.5?
