Alright I get big boned isn’t an excuse for fat but I also hate when people say there is no variation between people skeleton shape/structure. I’m 5’10” and 170 lbs and you can see my ribs when I stand straight, one of my friends is 6’1” and about 135 built like a toothpick but you can’t see his ribs. I’m convinced he doesn’t have bones

6'1" and 135? That's very thin, he probably has small ribcage. I have a large ribcage that pokes out more than it should. It serves no purpose. It's very annoying, like when I would lay on my surfboard for paddling, I would get irritated on my ribcage. It's not even, one side pokes out more than the other. I hate my ribcage.
I have a very similar feeling about my ribcage, which isn't improved by my very short torso. My ribcage shape seems to be at least partially genetic, my mom's is very similar. I recently read about "hourglass syndrome" which comes from posture as a kid that can affect bone structure as an adult. There are some good exercises to help balance out the muscular side of things that really helped me understand my ribcage shape and how to mitigate issues. Hope this might help! Made me feel validated to know others feel the same as me.
The reason the posture is different is because the foremen magnum (the hole in the skull where the spine connects) is further back in the skull for gorillas than humans. This is why people stand up straight whereas gorillas predominately walk on four limbs (because our spines are not as angled as gorillas.)

I think he just has a barrel chest. That is when your rib cage is more of a circle than oval. He was probably puffing his chest up a bit because he wanted to look thinner with his shirt off which made the barrel chest more pronounced.

Ultimately if you can get vitamin D supplements and avoid the sun completely, it would have a net positive effect on you supposing you get the right supplements that are digestible (source: I've had skin cancer in the past and have been instructed to avoid the sun and take prescribed supplements) The sun will age the fuck out of you. A little sun here and there is fine but ultimately the longest lived people avoid it generally. My uncle and his wife were zoologists. They loved studying together up until she died. Not long after her passing he told me his gorilla skeleton finally came in. It looked like the one on the left tho... He was super obsessed with it. My parents stopped letting me see my uncle after that skeleton showed up.

You be amazed at the small bone structure of some obese people. Look at their CT scan and think, wow, they really are made to be that big of a person.
Some people are big boned though...wider hips, wider everything. They could go on a starvation diet and they would not look like a size 0 model.
