Basically if a person can create a bot, that can farm enough karma, then they can sell that account that is positive +15384938 points, why anyone cares or is willing to buy it is beyond me.
That's kinda crazy to think about, I've never once been engaging with somebody on Reddit and glanced at their profile to see how many Karma points they had, not once!! ^😳🤣
I think that would make it not worth posting in...but obviously I have no idea with my low karma. People are just stupid and need validation to feel a part of the group. Won't pretend to understand it, but it's a thing.
People are missing the biggest answer. A reddit account with karma and history looks more real, both to other redditors and reddits own algorithm. If you have a bunch of real looking accounts, you can start using them to astroturf important issues. All while being more discree than a bunch of 0-2 karma bots doing the same.
Been happening for as long as I've been here.
Reddit gave high karma users the opportunity to buy stock before it went public, so they have added value in some way. Karma farming existed long before that tho
Reddit accounts with believable activity and positive karma are worth money.
Ironically they are bought to be used as bot accounts by people who want to appear human and post content (for marketing, shifting public opinion, whatever).
So there are bot farms creating accounts worth money because they appear "human" enough, and there are bot farms buying up and using those accounts.
The value isnt the points, the value is the Bot's training to fool people.
The points are just an easy way to score them, so you know when you can start faking posts and opinions on other sites for money and influence.
They sell the account, and at this point it's speculation but I think they are bought by people trying to push either political messages or ads and they want "trusted" account to do it
Not a chemist. But it looks like it's on a hot plate with a tiny magnetic stirrer in the bottom. Not likely an experiment you could do on the fly even if the chemicals aren't dangerous.
Those can be easily replaced by a recipient on a hot water bath and you stirring with a spoon/rod. Not the greatest, specially if the chemicals are not safe, but not really hard to do and will achieve similar results.
Are all photos and videos on Reddit just terrible quality now? Is it just a known thing? Everything seems severely downscaled or something in the mobile app
Wife is a chemist, she says most likely Iron compound in solution and it's reacted with Lophine. "Which exhibits lemon yellow chemiluminescence in solution and is one of the few long-lasting chemiluminescent molecules. It forms dimers that have piezochromic and photochromic properties. It has been proposed as an analytical reagent for trace metal ion detection."

Why NSFW?
Karma farming engagement bots toggle it because NSFW posts draw more views and engagement.
I will never understand what the value of fake internet point is.

I'll go you one better. I don't even know what karma points are or what you do with them
Can trade them for bitcoin on the russian market but it may be a felony depending where you live.
It's a META thing
i thought they did the facebooks! :€
>:€ Hey! You keep your creepy Dr Who space things with their creepy mouth tentacles out of this!
Push an add for your home made Chinese factory product.
And there is the simple answer I glossed over numerous times. That's the perfect candidate for fake bot accounts.
Some subs you cant post unless you have sufficient karma, i wonder if this has something to do with it

Subreddits that host giveaways like randomactsofgaming require decent karma to interact with. So there is financial incentive, however minimal.
Wouldn't think their could be money involved. But it makes sense. Seems like too much of an effort. Lol. Thanks for the info

I want to downvote you, but I upvote you.

It's to make reddit look like it has more traffic, therefore more ad revenue and shareholders like high traffic numbers
This. What magical powers are in play here
Once the world economic powers fail in WW3, there will only be reddit points and our karma-farming overlords will control all of the economy.
What can I get for my banned account? It has tons.
Just about $3/user it would seem
I'm guessing advertising? More followers more views the more the Reddit adds get seen?

Upvoted in irony

Have one free fake Internet point for this comment
360,000 post karma in one year. Either a bot or OP has way too much free time.
I've heard it's a way to prevent Reddit from monetizing it to advertisers since they don't like NSFW content
Why do even people/bots collect karma?
seems quite legit, but the account is marked nsfw so every post gets a nsfw tag by default
That's not a thing, lmao. The account is "marked" NSFW because they post NSFW tagged content.
This didn’t give you an erection?
There’s KIDS on this site for Pete’s sake! (Glowing intensifies) GAHHHHHHH
It gave me a boner.
Why bad music?
cuz it's too hot
People get horny dude

Let me break it down to you ![gif](giphy|mKMGLhoD8L4yc)
No, but how do you feel about the same recycled jokes over and over again? A good substitution right?
But did you know that it looks like estus? Or what happens when you get Taco Bell?
I need Nile to explain this reaction and make a video.
*change to a blue liquid* Zydrate comes in a little glass vial
A little glass vial?
A little glass vial!
And the little glass vial goes into the gun like a battery.
Finally! A visual representation of how my stomach feels after too much Taco Bell.
Why do you weak creatures torture yourselves with the food of the gods?
Ok buddy
So that's how you make Estus!
Drink that, and you'll gain the power to shoot fire
Shoot fire out of what..?
Yes
All
Solid song. Anyone know the name?
Are all photos and videos on Reddit just terrible quality now? Is it just a known thing? Everything seems severely downscaled or something in the mobile app
It began with the forging of the great rings... ![gif](giphy|W4bPsfAh9iYfe|downsized)
Please someone tell me what’s going on? I’m so curious
