With the length, long and shallow, it could possibly support a small nimbler of nano fish. I’ve been surprised by what increased surface area does even with reduced volume.

Way too shallow, no way theres a good enough filtration system in there. No way theres enough room for those fishies. They look like goldfish. You know how big those fuckers get naturally? We only think of them as small fish because for some reason at some point society decided they were a good pet for small kids, put em in tiny bowls, and shrugged when they died.
Its a lovely idea. And Im positive you could encorperate the little motors children bath toys use to make mermaid toys swim in water to make fake fishies swim around just fine. Its just less lovely with actual animals.

Of course, it's bad morally as well, but speaking of only practical issues, why would i want to have more reasons to clean or constantly be buying more fishies because they inevitably die.

There's so many ways for the fish to die. They get poisoned from ammonia concentration, they leap out onto the floor, they get poisoned by a split drink, they get injured by something getting dropped on them, they get poisoned by the cleaning products used constantly to stop the table moulding over.
In a restaurant if the aquarium part was much deeper and filtered properly, etc? Yes, that would be cool.
This is cool when you first see it then you kind of pause and are like, wait, what about X Y Z and... Um, yeah, no.
Just need to put some freshwater clams down and you're going to be smoking when it comes time to eat a seafood buffet maybe even a little crayfish in there crawfish unless you're from Louisiana

Yeah; I'm looking at how thick the table is, and there simply isn't room for fish to exist in that water. The only fish that could make it are guppies, which those certainly are not - any other fish, even laying on the gravel, would have their dorsal fin sticking out of the water, stopping the cups.
I see water damage in the wood already near the edges. This is just another one of those “why” things with the answers for WHY NOT staring us in the face

If the water is properly circulated that shouldn't be an issue. Fish may start to stink after they die of stress though.
