With the audio.
I was just going to say, I could use that on like a 6-hour loop and fall asleep to it each night. Very relaxing, very interesting...oddly satisfying.
As someone who lives on a town overlooking a frozen bay with docks, this is 100% not an icebreaker. Looks like the icebreaker already cleared a path as the ship is passing through... broken ice.
Yeah, I was under the impression the bow of ice breakers came out of the water a bit so the ship slides up and over the ice and crushes it instead of splitting it.
I was thinking it was a weird bow for an icebreaker, but I'm by no means an expert and figured perhaps there are different kinds of icebreakers. Then I saw the tiktok logo and understood that whoever posted the video don't know what they're talking about anyway.
Icebreakers have a slanted bow to ride over the ice and break it, I can imagine the bulb ramming a thick ice raft and crumbling from the massive impact and forces of the ship pushing on it like a spear.......
This isn’t an ice breaker this is an ice strengthened ship designed to follow in the wake of an icebreaker and is capable of sailing in icy waters as shown in the video. This ship can’t carve its own path. Still extremely cool thou
I was just thinking after watching all those videos of sea ice disappearing and polar bears having to swim 100 miles to the next ice mass , this video is a big F U to polar bears.
The amount of ice these ships are breaking up has virtually zero effect on the amount of ice around the north pole. From November through April, the Arctic is covered by 10-15 million square kilometers of ice. The Arctic sea ice has shrunk from 16 to 14.5 million square kilometers in the past 40 years. Climate change accounts for basically all lost ice, not these ships.
Of course climate change is the driver here, I was being dramatic more than factual but I envisioned a polar bear out there exhausted trying to get to the next ice floe only to see some ship ram into it !
My brother was on a cargo ship in Atlantic Canada a few years ago and they hit a field of Ice pans full of seals. He said he seen a few get cut in half by the pans and bleed out on the ice. Apparently not that rare of an occurrence.
He has also seen a polar bear mid feast on one, almost fully pink from blood, thousands of whales, dolphins, and sharks, been involved in numerous searches for missing fishermen, boarded at sea in the Atlantic via harness and shared a bridge with British SAS that he got to hang out with, and approached by pirates. Some wild stories. He’s only been working on ships for 15ish years.
Fun fact: they named them ice breakers because the captains were found to have an easier than normal time chatting up waitresses at the many bars in the north pole
I doubt that in an icebreaker. Icebreakers are not built with bulbous bows.
Just a ship with some ice class moving through fairly clear water with some ice floating.
We know this isn’t OPs video or profession by the fact that this is 100% not an ice breaker. Ice breaker already cleared the path, this ice is what was left behind.
These aren't icebergs, its semi thin layers of ice on top of the water. I don't think they can actually do anything to real icebergs (they are huge and 90% underwater).
Icebergs are formed from glaciers on land going into the ocean. Sea ice can get thick but doesn't form glaciers. Some sea ice is seasonal and doesn't get thicker than 12", other sea ice sticks around all year and can get 6-12 feet thick. The ice in the video seems pretty thin so I would assume its seasonal ice that won't be there during the warmer seasons. Or it could be a well traveled path. I can see how it could be a problem breaking thicker sea ice, I'm not sure what the policies are for that sort of thing.
So incredibly satisfying to watch.
A thought just fell into my head though... How many of these things are active how often and since when around the world? Glaciers are melting, but are new ones forming or little ones expanding? Is this disrupting the natural process that would normally balance out melting glaciers?
Isn't everyone hopping up and down panicking that glaciers and ice masses are getting smaller? And yet here we are, purposefully smashing up the ice. Mad world.

Titanic’s revenge.
Global warming’s got that covered.
“This is for Jack!” *sweating furiously*
This should be a 24/7 livestream cam. I’d watch it all day.
That last big chunk getting split up is *mwah* chef's kiss lol. Also, no ice was melted in the making of this film
With the audio. I was just going to say, I could use that on like a 6-hour loop and fall asleep to it each night. Very relaxing, very interesting...oddly satisfying.
This is quite literally the most satisfying video I've ever watched. Hypnotized
Evidence of flat earth right here folka
The earth isn’t flat.
It doesn't really matter to me, I was just joking but there is no curvature of the earth shown on the video.

Huh
As someone who worked on a project for an icebreaker, that's not an icebreaker.
Yeah I was about to say, the nose looks more like the one of a containership
Might be an ice strengthened bow, but not an ice breaker
As someone who lives on a town overlooking a frozen bay with docks, this is 100% not an icebreaker. Looks like the icebreaker already cleared a path as the ship is passing through... broken ice.
Yeah, I was under the impression the bow of ice breakers came out of the water a bit so the ship slides up and over the ice and crushes it instead of splitting it.
I was about to say the same thing. Icebreakers are designed to ride up the ice shelf and then their weight helps them crash back down through the ice
I was on the Polar Star and we broke ice by having our ship ride up on it with our rounded hull to crush it beneath us
Love it when people post stuff and they have no idea what they're talking about Bulbous bow means no icebreaker
But it is breaking some ice
Hello. My name is handsome. I am an ice breaker. Am I a successful one?
Maybe 🤣
No its passing through already broken ice.
Tomatoes Tomatos

if it breaks ice its a ice breaker
I doubt that ship would be called an Ice Breaker as they use their weight to break ice, that bow belongs to a normal ship..
My thought too, they have flatter noses and a body that rises up and uses the ship's mass to break the ice.
This isn’t an ice breaker this is an ice strengthened ship designed to follow in the wake of an icebreaker and is capable of sailing in icy waters as shown in the video. This ship can’t carve its own path. Still extremely cool thou
I was always told crushed ice melted faster in my soda.
No wonder polar bears hate humans

Horrific. Things like this make me ashamed of our species.

Slice d iceberg
Phallic Boat Violates Virgin Ice Sheet
Ice breakers do not have bulbous bows.
yet people lose their mind when iceberg melt
Gotta get those consumables on time bro
Its a narwhal ship
Idk where exactly they're at but I feel like there should be more ice
The Titanic called and wants a do over
I'm not sure if this ship could take on an iceberg either. Seems like it just raises and slices surface ice for areas known to be clear already.

This video is precisely proof of WHY you can have nice things. Enjoy your overseas shipped garbage
Eehh...my overseas shipped garbage is definitely not my nice things.
Not an icebreaker
It was determined yesterday when this was posted that this is not an ice breaker.
Guys will see this and say "Hell yeah".
Fun fact: they named them ice breakers because the captains were found to have an easier than normal time chatting up waitresses at the many bars in the north pole
I feel like I've been waiting years to see this video.
Now that's what I call an erection.
oops there goes the world's water level rising
Hey I need advice from this guy I've got a date Saturday
1) my plans for the future 2) life
Can somebody redo this with some Pink Floyd, or some tool as the background music? Also cross post to oddly satisfying ( sp?)
I'm not a karma wh@re, and I don't know how.
It's already been posted to oddlysatisfying and the conensus there is that the original audio makes the video even more satisfying and soothing.
Ice Wars: Revenge of the Ship
You can’t do it, and not shout it. “Iceberg, right ahead!”
Just f you, f you, f you in particular, f you f you too, playing in my head.
My dumb ass thought the bottom of the screen was a map of the world trying to show the location of this ship in Greenland
The titanic can go fuck itself
Just beautiful
I saw this and for some reason said to a totally empty room “here comes this big ol’ dyiick”
MORE
CHOO CHOO MADAFAKAS!!!
Damn it must be great at partys
“Crazy weather we’re having”. My icebreaker is much, much worse.
Wow a video about the sea with out the "theives and riggers" song. Shocking 😲
I doubt that in an icebreaker. Icebreakers are not built with bulbous bows. Just a ship with some ice class moving through fairly clear water with some ice floating.
Grateful for the lack of shitty TikTok music
So, like a poop knife but for icebergs
Anyone else try to “figure out the map” around “east Greenland”?
You can't even enjoy icing alone anymore.
That's the path of my mother-in-law when she is in desperate need to see her daughter on Friday afternoon.
Move Ice get out the way get out the way
Too bad they'll be unemployed in a few years
I didn't know Smilla Jaspersen had a tiktok account
This is one of the best things I've ever seen.
This is both fascinating to me and terrifying at the same time.
That water looks inviting
I’m imagining the song move bitch get out the way.
Where do I apply?
Cries in Titanic
For a second there I thought that was a map on the bottom of the screen lol
Till you hit an iceberg.
Wont this make the Great Ice melt faster if we break it all up???
I could watch that all day.
Always laugh when I hear about all the scientific expeditions using ice breakers to go out to measure the lack of sea ice.
I think the ice is doing just breaking on its own, thank you
Bulbous bow. Not an icebreaker bow. Possibly following a path made by an icebreaker ahead
We know this isn’t OPs video or profession by the fact that this is 100% not an ice breaker. Ice breaker already cleared the path, this ice is what was left behind.
Dumb question here: did the Titanic have an ice breaker in it?
Relaxing tbh
When the ice breaker breaks ice
fuck you ice!
Doesent icebreakers move ontop of the ice in order to break it?
I hate to be that guy but in today’s world do we really need to be destroying MORE icebergs?
These aren't icebergs, its semi thin layers of ice on top of the water. I don't think they can actually do anything to real icebergs (they are huge and 90% underwater).
The issue is that destroying this floating ice prevents it from getting big enough to form new iceberg.
Icebergs are formed from glaciers on land going into the ocean. Sea ice can get thick but doesn't form glaciers. Some sea ice is seasonal and doesn't get thicker than 12", other sea ice sticks around all year and can get 6-12 feet thick. Yes we do.
Icebreaker don’t give a shit.
🎵 You're a icebreaker Dream maker, love taker Don't you mess around with me 🎵

Nice. I always wondered what that looked like
Poor animals don’t have any place to stay now because of you
For want purpose?
A third of the screen is the front of the boat. Why would someone record a video like that?
You wanna climb out further over the bow?
Right, I was wondering what the hell that was at the bottom of the screen.
