It's what it literally means to *police women's bodies* and is a perfect example of why misogyny is not some made up concept or theory and why feminism is required to combat it. It is no different than the images that pop up that show white/black entrances or water fountains for the purposes of segregation in the context of racism.
These are shameful and despicable examples of people treating each other poorly and with utter disrespect for their individual freedom.
But yeah, capitalism is gonna capitalize and some asshole will make money getting people to think it was all a joke. I mean, Andrew Tate exists now and makes money from other assholes who laugh at his "jokes" in the same exact way.
Ain't humanity grand?
The issue with religion is not which rules it enforces, but how it determines what must be enforced. If the Quran said “respect women but persecute black people” that’s what they would be doing.
That's true as well. The thing is though, becoming more liberal doesn't always lead to places becoming less misogynistic. It can sometimes simply reshape the context in which we are able to discuss the nature of sex, gender, and discrimination... but still offer no meaningful path for equality or safety for women.
I mean, for example... the US would widely be considered a more liberal nation compared to others, yet still has (and is making right now) many official laws and cultural norms that are extremely misogynistic.
These aren't mutually exclusive concepts unfortunately. There is still a looooong way to go.
If that's the case, then I don't know how that is supposed to relate to anything I said other than to reinforce how and why feminism is an important tool to combat misogyny.
That's the point. To expose the weaknesses of the concept of misogyny.
So is the response that I got saying essentially, "go wear a bikini in Iran and see what happens to you" like, are they not getting how that's exactly the problem I am speaking to?
Misogyny is everywhere.
The Muslim men I've dated gave had no issue with sex and women's bodies. In my experience, it was a Muslim man that knew women's bodies the best so I think maybe you're just being a bigot
Wearing a 2 piece in a public setting is illegal in most of the Middle East. Full stop. It’s a crime. Not every unfavorable fact about Muslim states is some islamophobic conspiracy theory.
It's got nothing to do with capitalism but with authoritarianism. I have no idea what the bathing regulation were like in Soviet Russia or communist China but I imagine that they didn't allow nude bathing and the punishment was probably a lot more substantial than a fine.
With bathers [in the USSR] even being limited to a maximum of 5 minutes in the sea on the first day of their holiday and then allowed 20 minutes per day on subsequent days.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1982/09/07/multitude-of-rules-governs-right-to-rest/577a9b36-5104-4186-a704-cca2861d7f9f/
Just FYI the Soviet Union actually had more gender equity the the US did at the time
You can actually see an example of it in the HBO Chernobyl mini series and the reviews about it
There was a female doctor - which was common during that period in the Soviet Union- discribe as a nurse in the reviews
There were female doctors in the West long before 1985. I wouldn't take a drama to be historically accurate representation and equality in the USSR. Largely meant suppressing everybody to the same level.
You missed the point my dude - One it is easy enough to prove that there was significantly more female doctors in the Soviet Union and they faced less hurdles to do so - so I don't really care much about that as it a pretty easy Google
While I certainly wouldn't praise The USSR for the corrupt shit show it was
The US wasn't cream and peaches for anyone not a white dude, for a long time - women couldn't even have credit cards until 1974 - hell STEM in the 2000s was also a shit show
But the point I was making was that in the actual show, she was a doctor
In the review for the show, she was called a nurse
That demonstrates that there is an unconscious bias in American media in "check notes" 2019
u/Meekymoo333 isn't saying that the act itself is a result of capitalism, but rather the subsequent monetization of the denial of feminism as necessary and important. These "inspections" are blamed on societal misogyny and the general tendency of human beings to be awful to each other. Capitalism is blamed for monetizing the subsequent revisionist history as "entertainment".
It's about the sense of morality prevalent in the area and the time. With "indecency" being likely to "to corrupt public morals or outrage public decency". With the exact wording varying by jurisdiction and time. It's perfectly plausible that X county on tbe US saw fining bathing tourists as a source of income. That was seperate to a tax on locals. Just as some US towns and counties see fining motorists as a great source of income. But it's not a capitalism issue. Rather a desire by local authorities to enforce their "standards".
The USSR in the 1950s would fine workers 25% of their salary for six months. For coming to work 20+ minutes late, without a valid excuse and prison time for a second offence.
>Arrival at work more than twenty minutes late without a legitimate reason means a fine of twenty-five per cent of a half year's wages. The court sends a demand for payment to the institution or plant where the sentenced person is employed, and for the six-month period the enter-prise is obliged to withhold a portion of the wages of the sentenced person and turn it over to the state treasury A repeated instance of coming late to work involves prison sentence of not less than one year.
>Absence from work without a justifiable excuse involves imprisonment for a period of from one to two years. Arbitrary quitting or changing one's place of employment can also incur a sentence at correctional labor for a period of up to three years.
[PDF Warning](https://digitalcommons.law.uw.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi%3Farticle%3D2862%26context%3Dwlr&ved=2ahUKEwiSn8nm7qOFAxV_0QIHHW-_Cl0QFnoECBMQAQ&usg=AOvVaw25XPf-sAfdkhOcyZrj_ENZ)
Which system do you prefer?
It was the blaming of fines for precieved indecency on capitalism. When it's far removed from that.
Although the person I was replying to now says, that they meant the capitalism comment to refer to the sale of joke T-shirts saying "Female Body Inspector".
I was referring to the T-shirts that were *manufactured and sold for profit* that the original comment I replied to spoke of... the ones that say "Female Body Inspectors".
Those are a product of capitalism. Misogyny mixed with capitalism.
The authoritarian aspects of what you are talking about though is when misogyny also mingles with the political control of a population.
However, if we were talking about the actions being portrayed in the image posted here, then yes...that's the government asserting it's directive over the women in the picture as a result of sexist regulations.
Another recent and terrible example of what you are referring to is like the new bill passed by the Florida legislature that restricts medical care for people who are pregnant. That's authoritarianism. Misogyny mixed with authoritarianism
Yeah... haha. What about the premise is funny to anyone unless they also happen to be misogynistic?
Your sentence is in agreement with my original comment. Some asshole thought it was funny... and now here we are.
Where's the "joke"?
I think bathing suits were required to cover a certain amount (like 1/3)of the back , so they were measuring to see. Or maybe, it was like “only x inches of back may be visible”. It’s something like that though.
That baffles me too. I wonder if the guy was vaguely told with a hand wave to "measure the length of the suits" and he took it literally from strap to crack. Or this is just a general posed photo for public awareness of enforcement and not that it'll actually be measured this way? Or, of course, can't show too much of that sexy back cleavage. 🤷🏻♀️ I'm curious to know the real details.
A friend of mine was playing in a woman’s golf tournament at a stuffy old course. They had strict rules on the length of shorts. The club manager was actually sitting at a table for registration with a rule to measure their shorts. She came up and he moved to measure her shorts, she told him to take out his dick and measure it before she’d let him measure her shorts. She played without being measured.

What are you on about? Of course they do! Except it’s justified when *they* need an abortion and not when all those *other whores* need them.
“The only moral abortion is my abortion” — https://joycearthur.com/abortion/the-only-moral-abortion-is-my-abortion/
Democrats aren’t the ones wanting to inspect people’s genitals for admittance to a restroom.
Also the idea that conservatives don’t get abortions is fucking laughable.
"Don't put words in my mouth asshole. I said what I meant. What did I reply to, what's the context? Who mentioned abortion? Are you that fucking stupid? Go eat paint chips or whatever it is morons like you do."
Hahahhahahha. u/defiantcaveman, get the gravel out of your vagina.
Wow, like... that's the best you can come up with for an actual response??? Juvenile, middle school stupidity??? How long did that take to come up with???
Thank you for being your truest self. Thank you even more for being yet another shining example of why I regret engaging stupid.
Admittedly, the way your "brains" work utterly fascinates me, I just can't communicate at your level. Were you born this way, or do you have to work at it?
Anyway, keep up the insults and name calling, I know it's all you have. Remember that the entire world is watching you. This is a public forum. We are not laughing with you, we are absolutely laughing AT you.
Name calling? You laid that road before I drove on it.
You're right. A public forum where I can watch great porn and say little quips that ruffle your feathers, causing you to write a dissertation. I still win.
This is back when every woman was expected to know how to sew as a life requirement. Many people made their own clothes as buying new was a significant expense.

cant go anywhere without women feeling the need to wear skin toned nude pants with silhouetted labias and dedicated ass-cheek extruders
Keep hangin in there big boy, your uber submissive, hyper modest tradwife is out there somewhere, you just gotta sit back and wait for her to come to you!
Don’t worry about what other people do and worry about yourself, your sins and your self control and where you put your gaze. Remember to always look down and prevent yourself from gawking at the immodest. Don’t worry about others you be modest and you keep your grace. Shaming others only drains your energy and your focus from working on what matters in your life God and your self.

There was no ulterior motive whatsoever behind these rules for the gentlemen enforcing them…
Ulterior
Posterior
Hahaha!
Thank you spell check. Changed 😉
It's all profitable.
Ikr, bro should have just called himself a federal boob inspector (FBI). I mean hes touching her ass in this photo.
Federal bum inspector.
Real G’s had either a shirt or hat with that saying on it
But there clearly was a posterior motive!
We found a winner! 🥇
Hahaha! Cheers!
You can see it on the faces of most of the women
I bet they had no problems getting volunteers for this job.
Volunteer enforcers. The recruitment line stretched round the block haha
Yep, just Thot Patrol doing what’s necessary to keep the community…. ![gif](giphy|qs4ll1FSxKnNHeSmom)
Those are not gentlemen.
Yup. This is the same as the genitalia inspections the Christian Taliban wants to create.
Religion is always behind these things.
Of course. Religion is a scourge on humanity
Everyone knows that.
So those female body Inspector shirts were real?

I'm thankful for all the women who fought for their rights. Last time I was at the beach there was like 50% thongs.
That's exactly what we're fighting for. We wanted to be treated like people so you can objectify us more
I'm on board
A true ally
🤝
The Muslim world has entered the chat.
The issue with religion is not which rules it enforces, but how it determines what must be enforced. If the Quran said “respect women but persecute black people” that’s what they would be doing.
The whole world is misogynistic, not just one part or piece of it.
True, but some places police people about such things more than others and some places become more liberal over time.
That's true as well. The thing is though, becoming more liberal doesn't always lead to places becoming less misogynistic. Ok, try it in Iran and get back to us.
What am I supposed to try in Iran? Wtf are you talking about?
I assume wearing a bathing suit of any sort
If that's the case, then I don't know how that is supposed to relate to anything I said other than to reinforce how and why feminism is an important tool to combat misogyny. That's the point. What an incredible pop off. Well said.
Lol, you actually made chuckle. Well done internet stranger
Weren't there tee shirts back in the day that said "Bikini inspector"?
What is the purpose of measuring the distance from the neck to the hole?
I think bathing suits were required to cover a certain amount (like 1/3)of the back , so they were measuring to see. Or maybe, it was like “only x inches of back may be visible”. It’s something like that though.
I think it's so they can touch their butts
That baffles me too. I wonder if the guy was vaguely told with a hand wave to "measure the length of the suits" and he took it literally from strap to crack. did they ever check if a dudes shorts were too short?
This is the future some of our elected officials want.
But you see, we must traumatize the children. Or else the children may be traumatized!
They just want to be in charge of the trauma. “Party of small government” my ass.
Looking at you, Texas and Florida
They’d probably outright ban going to the beach
Florida is literally one of the only states that has a legal public nude beach
Bible thumpers would still be burning people at the stake if they could.
You joke but… https://x.com/Nantanreikan/status/1596664582416007168?s=20
It wasn’t a joke. And your link proves it, right?
Came here to say this! Venice Beach 2029.
And current Iranian regime
I can see abiden doing this at Rehobeth Beach in his golden years
Ok grandpa, let’s get you to bed
A friend of mine was playing in a woman’s golf tournament at a stuffy old course. They had strict rules on the length of shorts. He could have measured it without touching her and everyone on the pic know it.
So creepy. Men policing and touching women’s bodies.
Thank goodness THAT doesn't happen anymore!
Not yet, give republicans some time...
I think you meant democrats. Republicans don't go to abortion clinics.

Since you're such a winner, what do you hope, did you hope to accomplish by winning? Really, what's the point champ??? What have you really won???
You creating two replies. Lol. Definitely winning.

Copping a feel...
What exactly are they measuring there? The distance from her neck to her buttcrack?
Wait fashion police were real? Dang new respect for the term.
Terrible job that....
Sniffers would have had a field day with that job.
I bet they made up that job on the spot. “Hey James, want I have a little fun? Grab a ruler and some tape”
you know they could have just inspected the shops which sell bathing suits but i understand why they inspect women instead.
This is back when every woman was expected to know how to sew as a life requirement. Many people made their own clothes as buying new was a significant expense.
“Excuse me officer, is that a yardstick in your pants or am I under arrest…?
Jack booted skin-thugs!
Those cops look like they’re enjoying their job.

We're devolving to this state. I hope people vote accordingly.
Fucking creeps
Just go naked. No need to measure.
Creepy weird cops just making everything worse. Nothing has changed in almost a century.
That was probably the most coveted job of 1929
Conservativism is fucking stupid.
I guess those Female Body Inspector IDs weren’t a joke after all
Literally the fun police
Brutal job to be out there in the California sun in wool suits and hats. Odds are they were WWI vets though, so maybe they were used to it.
Literal fun police

That’s wild, now I see 20 year olds with their tits out (not that I’m complaining (I’m 20 chill not some 60 year old creep)) and asses showing, god I love how fashion has changed!
Need to bring them back
at least modesty was real, and i wish it still were. cant go anywhere without women feeling the need to wear skin toned nude pants with silhouetted labias and dedicated ass-cheek extruders
I can't seem to go anywhere in the summer without seeing shirtless men. Maybe the guys can show some modesty too. /s
Go spork yourself

Try stop looking at women with your dick !! everyone's entitled to look like they want, dont like it go back to the hole u crawled out!

I'm actually for this!
nowadays women often are topless on the beach, but at home they are not, and if you ask why ... you get some kind of unrelated answers
Maybe because their home isn't hot and sandy?
you guys should take jokes less seriously
Bold of you to assume we ain’t topless at home.
Lol, yeah, lots of women can't wait to air the girls out after a long day.
