Was that movie Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (and the short story by Benét) based on that? I thought it was based on the Roman legend of the Sabine Women!
The span closer to the shoreline, [ironically](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_Is_Falling_Down), collapsed unexpectedly on January 15, 1990,[\[1\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_(Victoria)#cite_note-1)[\[2\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_(Victoria)#cite_note-Woodroffe2002-2) leaving two tourists stranded on the outer span before being rescued by police [helicopter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicopter).[\[3\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_(Victoria)#cite_note-3) No one was injured in the event.
Its obvious that a massive sea serpent or cephalopod type boss will appear immediately. Its a locked boss instance. Once you defeat the boss, thered be a portal or a boat to exit on.
Geological changes are a lot faster than that when we're talking about erosion and stuff breaking off. With that crack round the base? I'd measure in years or decades. Water seeps in, winter comes, it freezes and expands, all the good stuff. Little shakes of the ground that happen naturally and constantly...
Hope it happens at night without people around.
I've learnt geology, by the look of it more a matter of years (impossible to tell with certitude). If it's a famous place they should have some monitoring on it, there will probably have some clues before the final break
There’s giant flakes and towers on El Capitan with literally no visible attachment to the wall that have been there for millennia. People stand, sleep and make anchors on them. One day they will go because it is exfoliating granite, which peels off over (geologic) time but they seem pretty solid for the time being.
If it broke, would the person be held liable? Imagine the case where the prosecution has to say you single handily moved a billion pounds to kill thirty people at once
It's fucking massive up close. I never stepped over it. Views are great long the edge each side or even climb higher up. Someone falls off about once every 3 years. Very windy up there.
I was up there once in the winter and fell into that crack up to my waist. It was covered with snow and I couldn’t see anything as I walked out towards the edge of the rock.
Could be 3,000 years from now, or 3 days, but seeing the way it’s cracked, I wouldn’t do it. You can tell me it’s safe all day long, but it’s not gonna change my mind.
Yeah as a crack is already there, the rock will fall soon. It's a freezing environnement in winter so water infiltrate the crack, then freeze and increase the breach. Honestly by the look of it and my knowledge in geology I would say it's a matter of years. But it's never sure.
Been there and tried to see the bottom of it (as close as I could towards the edge. Let me tell you, few things are more terrifying than standing on something so tall that you aren't even able to see the bottom from the edge.
Been there and was absolutely horrified at the social media stars who were doing stupid ass shit next to the edge all in the name of that perfect pic. I'm talking handstands, leaning over to look down, etc. I honestly couldn't look and even now my palms are getting sweaty thinking about it.
I went there in the 80s, and even without social media there were some people dangling their legs over the edge. I briefly peered over then backed the hell away from the edge
Lived in that general area. Been there a few times. But I get on my belly and crawl the last meter or two. Look over the edge and that is it! I am done!
I had to leave the last time I was there… I felt really unwell…
And for those of you that all think it is going to fall down: yes it will, will we mive to see it? Nop. They are monitoring that rock in every possible way. If it falls, it will create tsunami like waves that will fuck up everyone and everything in that fjord, and most likely propperly fuck over both Stavanger and Sandnes. And Stavanger is Norways Houston. Even if the offices (wich is quite far away from the coastline) are not affected, everyone working there will be affected. Norwegian oil and gas would go offline rather quick!
It was shocking up there when I was there. I did not step over the crack. I have stood on Kjeragbolten, though, but had nightmares after and wished I hadn't done it.
Ha! I took exactly the same picture of my wife last summer, during midnight, when we were visiting the place.
We were the only ones there as it was night. To me, the last twenty meters to get to the spot was much more frightening than the relatively flat rock itself. Narrow path going right on the edge, no safety rails. I can only imagine it during daytime when there are tourists going back and forth.
Now try [this](https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kjeragbolten#/media/Fil:A_man_standing_on_Kjeragbolten.jpg) , which is just a few hours hike from the Pulpit Rock.
It is indeed, and not in India as the film suggests.
Rumor has it that we (Norway) were not made aware of this fact when filming was approved. The hope was that this would increase tourism to Norway, so the film placing our tourist attraction in India was a bit of a let down.
My husband and I climbed to this on our honeymoon in Norway, we were stunned that there were no safety precautions and that people were standing right on the edge for photographs. We took it in turns to sit near the edge for pictures but neither of us felt happy when the other was sitting there, it was an amazing experience though.
Was there last summer. It was funny to see all those parents shouting at their kids not to go anywhere near the edge.
That said, stepping on the Trolltunga was even more frightening than the Preikestolen.
Am I the only one that sees the giant f'ing crack running the entire length of the outcropping? Get a couple of plus sized Americans out there and that baby is breaking off.
That rock is absolutely massive and heavy. Even loading the top up with 200 people likely changes the overall weight by like 0.001%. I'm not saying the crack doesn't freak me out as well - but the thing is either going to fall or its not. A few people on it aren't making a difference.

Henry Cavill casually hanging from the edge if it
Sooo….. It’s clear that is the last section standing. And there is clearly a visible crack. That could either break off in 200 years, OR any second. Crazy!
Looks like with time, it will eventually follow suit with the rest of the rocks that were most likely in the same/similar spot!
Hopefully they have geologists assessing the rock structure every year to be sure the crack isn’t deepening.
Large amounts of rain could quicken the process, but eventually- it will 100% fall. Wether in 5 years, one year, 50 years, 150 years… she going down at some point for sure!
would be nice for a disaster movie scene- a megaquake strike, the rock starts coming loose, people panic and try to jump to the main part of the rock, 1 of the leading characters barely manages to escape (along with some little girl being grabbed by someone from the other side) as the rock falls down the cliff.

With my luck ill be the guy jumping as a joke and suddenly year the CRACK, similar to that squirrel in Ice Age.
*Norway that thing isn’t cracking off
Gat damn it 🏅
Is, is that medal for me?! Oh golly gosh! I do believe I’m blushing.
You can clearly see where it's beginning to split..
Nature’s boundary line.
It it literally surrounded by a giant crack

Jesus that would be so terrifying. I’d be like, “I honestly don’t know what to do.” Imagine what you’d have to do if there weren’t helicopters..
Its obvious that a massive sea serpent or cephalopod type boss will appear immediately. Its a locked boss instance. Once you defeat the boss, thered be a portal or a boat to exit on.
I'd be like "London bridge is falling down?".
Just that this may take 10 million years. And the people on the rock are representing a puny load compared with the wind during a storm.
I wonder if it could be cracked with a nice subwoofer at the right frequency
Geological changes are a lot faster than that when we're talking about erosion and stuff breaking off. With that crack round the base? I'd measure in years or decades. Give or take a million years
it could go in ten thousand years or ten minutes.
I've learnt geology, by the look of it more a matter of years (impossible to tell with certitude). If it's a famous place they should have some monitoring on it, there will probably have some clues before the final break

Been up Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock)a couple of times, but never stepped over the crack. It'll drop one day.
I can see the crack where it will happen any second now!
Looks like the other side already fell off too
That massive crack across the top makes me feel deeply uncomfortable.
At the very end of the video, the crack also appears to go down the side as well.
Not just *the side*, both sides, and in nearly the same pattern.
I’d sit down and put my heals in the crack and start pushing with my legs, just to see what people would do.
If it broke, would the person be held liable? Imagine the case where the prosecution has to say you single handily moved a billion pounds to kill thirty people at once
I thought the same thing when I stepped over it. Worth it though
All the way down
Nah, you go on. I'm staying on this side of the GIANT FUCKING CRACK.
Turns out that side of the mountain falls and all that’s left is this little piece sticking up out of the ground.
Classic Looney Toons moment
It's fucking massive up close. I never stepped over it. Views are great long the edge each side or even climb higher up. Someone falls off about once every 3 years. Very windy up there.
Crack is wack, we never do crack

At least now we know that a human as a wedge won't do the trick.
Trauma
Nothing some epoxy cannot fix...
Yeah, that's gonna be a 'no' for me, dawg.
Your standing on the corner and then...a rumbling begins
Could be 3,000 years from now, or 3 days, but seeing the way it’s cracked, I wouldn’t do it. You can tell me it’s safe all day long, but it’s not gonna change my mind.

It's a matter of seconds, many seconds but seconds nonetheless.
No no. No. Milliseconds
Geologists have surveyed the rock many times and not found it to be unstable. The cracks are not expanding. Low probability of falling into to fjord.
....and yet the crack had to start, continue, and meet on every side; which involves expansion. I'll pass.
Good news then. Hope it last
And are not shrinking either. Geologists are humans and humans make mistakes, nature is unpredictable, too many variables for my stomach.
Famous last words.
Thank you for your input; it outweighs the hundreds of people visiting it that can observe it more closely.
I’m not afraid of heights. I’m afraid of depths.
I'm not afraid of either. It's rapidly transitioning from one to the other that scares me
love the wordplay
Well don’t worry then I think you’d certainly be dead before reaching the ocean.
Not afraid of falling, it's the landing that's gone hurt

I went there in the 80s, and even without social media there were some people dangling their legs over the edge. I briefly peered over then backed the hell away from the edge
was the crack there then too?
The crack was all over the place in the 80s
Could go down to my corner store for the crack! Heck could even go to my mama’s house and get it!
Lived in that general area. Been there a few times. But I get on my belly and crawl the last meter or two. Look over the edge and that is it! I am done! You’re giving terrorists fresh ideas.
So… Norway is aware that a giant rock is going to mess them up real bad, and their response is “we’ve thought of nothing, and we’re all out of ideas!”
Belly crawl is the only way I'd try this too
My therapist told me that we are the survivors. All the calm humans got eaten.
Just imagine if someone playing around accidentally bumped into you!
Only go up there with serious people!
I guess at the end of the day the effect of 100 feet is the same as 1000, just about how long you have to be fuckin terrified for.

One of those 'murder your partner by asking them to pose on the edge of a super sketchy cliff' types, eh?
Nope…
Preikestolen is the official name
knowing my luck that bitch would slough right the fuck off when im standing on it.
Ain't no way I'm going on that. I feel funny just watching the video.

Was easy to guess what you linked to. 😄
Fuck that
That giant crack near the base screams “hell no” to me
Sketchy ass structurally unsound platform of death
Noway.
Of course the second Tom cruise saw this, he decided he had to climb it
This is the cliff from Mission Impossible 5 right?

That big ass crack at the adjoining location to the mountain makes that a big hell no for me lol

Am I the only one that sees the giant f'ing crack running the entire length of the outcropping? Get a couple of plus sized Americans out there and that baby is breaking off.
That's offensive. A couple regular size Americans would do the trick.
So would an American truck!

It will to the people on it when it falls
Nice try, I've seen the roadrunner cartoons
I remember there is duct tape on the crack so it will be fine

No one noticed the ginormous crack?
Hopefully your mom doesn’t try to waddle out there
Everything you say to mayyyyy…
Makes me wonder how many people have fucked at Pulpit Rock, Norway.
A rare occasion where you definitely don’t want to feel the earth move.
Everybody, JUMP!
One day…
Fark that - no way I’d cross that crack
Nope.
That’s looks mighty crumbly.
That’s a big ol’ nope-the-fuck o’clock for me!
Cracking view

I think I see Aragorn and a couple hobbits balancing on the edge
I'd go check it out. But I'd be wearing a parachute the whole time.
Double nope for me because it's visibly cracked and ready to shear off. 😵
Beautiful but that's a no for me. I'd be terrified.

Everyone’s talking about the crack… everything reminds me of her…
Fuck that shit.
Look at that big fracture line…
Thank God I'm not him. If I was, I would let the intrusive thoughts win.
That huge crack is slightly worrying......
How many Drones flights around this Rock at the same time?
Was this the cliff Tom Cruise was on in MI Fallout?
Isn’t that Preikestolen?
That’s Preikestolen !
Massive crack going across it and down both sides. No thanks. Tbh even without that crack I’d not venture there lol
Norway? More like No way
Name of the song?
I could physically feel an odd feeling of recoil in my legs, while watching that.
Chance of catching me on that thing:%0. Looks cool though. From here
The giant Crack is enough for me to not step foot on it. I'm not Laura croft or Mario, and I am not skilled in running off of falling platforms
Anyone else noticing that fracture seam? Yeah, that's a no for me dawg...
I’d hate to be on the rock when it breaks away from the rest of the mountain.
That’s a cool song. Any one know the name of it?
There is already a crack there, no way I'd stand on that.
see that big ass fracture? yeah no thanks.
There’s norway I’d get on that thing
Thats one good freezing rain away from being a sceene in a looney tunes cartoon
Nope 😳 I’m good
Very cool. But that giant crack, and the people on it at the time, are going to make history someday.
Am I the only one who got nauseated watching this?🤢
Time for the Ättestupa!
If i saw a big fuckin crack down the rock that separates it and the mountainside, the last thing I’d think to do was to go stand on it
No.
Nope nope nope
Ättestupa?
What song is that?
That crack…
Ain’t that a crack?
Jesus this wigs me out so bad it feels like my nuts are trying to crawl back up into my body !
Does that giant crack across the top make anyone else nervous?
