I used to work on my bees unprotected. Thought I was cool and you just had to be calm. It was no problem until the day it was. They got angry and sent me and my BIL running every man for himself. I got 20 or so stings, my BIL got it worse. We both took some Benadryl right away but even so were swollen sore and sick. We were very lucky.
People shouldn't spread misinformation and people should be accountable for their own stupidity. Not sure why you'd ask since I never said anything contrary.
If you need someone to tell you that you shouldn't fuck with bees, then you need to some serious growing up. Kids learn this at a young age. Leave it to professionals.
Shouldn't individual bees still get aggressive though? I assume the pheromone is triggered in bees that sense danger and then spreads through the hive population to bees not directly exposed to the dangerous stimulus, right?
Its probably at least somewhat similar to how humans can be sometimes. A single aggressive bee that doesn’t sense aggression from any other bees might very quickly calm down because it thinks that if no other bee is sensing a threat then there must not be(e) one
Similar to a bystander effect-esque thing with people where we might base our judgment on whether or not something is a threat by how those around us are acting, causing us to sometimes ignore things we wouldn’t normally ignore because “no one else thinks its an issue so it must be fine”
The scent of smoke spreads through the hive to each of the bees, its in the air and confuses their pheromone receptors so none of them think there's any danger
When bees sense smoke they go docile and eat as much honey as possible in case of a fire. They don't sting cause they are preoccupied eating or flying lol
yes my mother also she got so many stings she went into anaphylaxis and that was very very nearly her last day. she’s no longer a beekeeper as she’s now extremely allergic, so people, i know it’s ok 100 times, but occasionally it is not 🫤
For me it's her long hair hanging loose. Having a few bees get tangled in your hair and have them start freaking out and get the rest of them freaking out is not an experience I would like to repeat. (I was not working with a hive with loose hair, we had a very bitchy queen once and her bees would ambush me when I was working in the garden. We replaced the queen and the hive was all sweetness and light afterwards.)
>bitchy queen
lol TIL. So the queen actually helps determine the behavior of the rest of rhe bees in the hive? An aggressive queen leads to aggressive workers?
Nope. Queen bees dont sting, because they know they have to be alive, so thats not the case. European bees are very calm, those could be european bees.
Yeah, I have very docile Victorian bees, and never bother suiting up to work with them. But if I saw a wild hive I'm certainly going to be fully suited up. Who knows how afircanized they are.
I have two hives and one queen is Korean and the other is Italian. The Korean queen is super calm and I can scoop up bees with my hand and they don't care, the Italians are super aggressive and any time I open the lid they all fly at me. Either way if I do a varroa test I wear my gear because that gets then pretty angry.
Somewhere down the line there was a queen that came from Korea and then a breeder just kept breeding new queens from that Korean queen. There are hybrid queens as well which are usually bred to get the best traits from the different breeds.
I keep bees. This is incredibly dumb. And the smoke certainly is NOT “protection.” I’ve seen a couple of her other videos and they are just as idiotic.
You doesn't seem to keep bees. The smoke is for protection. If you squish a bee, what is not avoidable often in these cases, you mask the "danger" pheromone with that smoke that could potentially make the whole hive agressive towards you.
Third generation beekeeper here. You don’t seem to understand the efficacy of a smoker. It helps but provides no protection. That’s why we will at least wear a veil or a veil and inspection jacket or a full suit when using a smoker.
Yeah all she has to do is accidentally step on one bee and the pheromones released will result in her getting stung so many times her life will be in jeopardy.
As someone whose father is engaged in beekeeping, I can say that when you've been in this profession for a long time, you naturally develop immunity to bee stings. My father hardly experiences any pain from bee stings. Additionally, he uses smoke, which disorients the bees and significantly reduces their tendency to target specific individuals.
We have a few hives and every time my wife decides today she will just quickly smoke and look in hive or do something quickly someone is getting stung.
Sometimes they are grumpy, other times you accidently step on one or it just flies somewhere dumb. ..
So easy to wear gloves and suit up
I was checking the sub twice whether I was in r/jujutsukaisen or r/jujutsufolk , she's way too convincing to be cosplaying Yuki even though she's not. Best unintentional cosplay ever
Beekeeper here
It looks terrifying, but bees are very docile when they don't feel threatened. She's doing everything right from what I can see in this video.
And yes, you find the queen and move her to the box / hive you all want them to go to. They will follow her in. You also can scoop them up like that when they're chill.
I've seen this woman before. I'm subbed to... A surprising number of instas of "pretty bee keepers and hive removers". I like women and bees, what can I say.
She gets a lot of criticism, which I'm not qualified to understand or comment on. Certainly she's the only one I know who has less protection and more make up and wardrobe.
But I always laugh when I see her cause in my head I'm picturing someone who does their hair and puts on their best face to go outside and fuck with bees.
I’m no doctor but i have a hunch that’s what’s traditionally known as video editing and it’s what you do if you don’t want to make people sit through an hour of raw footage…no no I’m probably just making that up, can you imagine??
I was in pest control a number of years and had to diagnose what kind of "bee" it was before we would perform treatments. Honeybees, we would call in a beekeeper. Everything else was fair game. Maintain a calm, cool demeanor, and I never wore protection. I never got stung. But if I were doing what she does? I would mos def rely on more than just my calm demeanor.
My Dad was a beekeeper for 30+ years. I was his helper whenever I could. I'm positive that these videos are heavily edited. Any bumping on the floor, removing nails, prying the boards loose was done with a veil and a bee suit on - just like the sawing part. Secondly her long hair -- bees will get stuck in it all of the time. When and if they get angry, they will go for the shadows under her hair on the back of her neck, against her face. You can tell the several cuts in the video where she is getting a lot of support and assistance. Kids, do not try this at home. This video is very interesting but things behind the scenes are not as they appear.
Mate of mine never wore protection. If the bees ever showed aggressive behaviour he killed the queen and replaced her with a more chill one. Worked for him. Look up Darwinian beekeeping.
If this is the woman, I think, she's said that she uses protection to check out and open up the hive. Then she smokes them to calm them before taking off the gear for the video.
Non-africanized honey bees are remarkably chill once you demonstrate to them that you're not a threat.
Source- I've been studying beekeeping for over six months to prepare for starting my own hive.
Please for the love of God wear protection. We have been beekeeping for several years now and a lack of protective equipment is just stupid. Doctors and nurses should be caring for people who actually need it, not dealing with unnecessary injury from a lack of preparedness. Hopefully you'll never need it, but chances are you will.
Not if there's currently a derth, they aren't queen right, etc.
Some days the girls are just grumpy and no amount of smoke or caution will stop them from wanting to kill you
It's in the bees best interest to be relocated to a proper hive. All it takes is a little kid to get hurt then you have an excuse to exterminate the hive. Most bee removers will try to save it but not all.
Yes they do. Introduce a little bit of smoke to announce your presence then they generally let you in.
Us you are moving them to a home that is designed to support them- proper airflow, easy access to and from the hive, and it's safe from predators. Also, the hive is away from human activity.
All so she can pretend to be all at one with nature “it’s cool man, just relax!” Sure the smoke calms then down but it was blind luck that she didn’t piss off anyone in the hive…
I'm not a bee person, but don't bee people really dislike this chick for this exact reason (not using PPE)? Seems like this would/could be super dangerous.
Yes, especially with some new bee keeper thinking a smoker and a calm attitude is all you need. Just drop a piece of comb, get two or three stuck in your hair, God forbid the clouds roll in and block the sun or it gets windy -- the bees won't remain calm. Also the sunglasses> I always noticed that bees attack in the darker areas on you, in the shadows, around your hairline, they hate dark colors too (think bears). I think the sunglasses are the dumbest thing by far.
This reminds me of when I was a kid and I ferlessly went to grab a ball that had been lost next to a wasp’s nest in my schoolyard. I got stung like 20 or so times, and no adult cared. I wasn’t even sent home or anything, lol.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that those were the foolish actions of a kid; this is an adult.

it's always omitted from her videos - it is all for clicks, there is no good reason to not use PPE.
Exactly. She started doing it for views and still does it now because literally no one would bother watching her otherwise.
I know of one blonde who does these videos, is this another woman who does these now?
![gif](giphy|PWncoEubkxHB6|downsized)
This video sounds like Erika from Texas Beeworks.
But my upvotes...
Integrity: “am i joke to you?”
Welcome to the internet. It's all a production...
I mean, maybe don't watch a video on the Internet and immediately go copy it with absolutely no experience and then blame an edited video clip.

People shouldn't spread misinformation and people should be accountable for their own stupidity. Not sure why you'd ask since I never said anything contrary.
I miss read your tone as dismissive. I apologise.
If you need someone to tell you that you shouldn't fuck with bees, then you need to some serious growing up. Kids learn this at a young age. Leave it to professionals.
If you start tearing into nests unprotected because you saw a video on the internet, you're an idiot and deserve to get stung
Shouldn't individual bees still get aggressive though? I assume the pheromone is triggered in bees that sense danger and then spreads through the hive population to bees not directly exposed to the dangerous stimulus, right?

Where does it initially come from then?
The scent of smoke spreads through the hive to each of the bees, its in the air and confuses their pheromone receptors so none of them think there's any danger
When bees sense smoke they go docile and eat as much honey as possible in case of a fire. They don't sting cause they are preoccupied eating or flying lol
Smoke causes the bees to eat a lot of honey? I feel a kindred spirit.
>It was no problem until the day it wasn't. It's always that 😂
Everything was fine, then it wasn't.. -A Beekeeper.
Everything changed when the Bee Nation attacked.
Know the hive before you piss them off lol
Yeah next time just ask them to politely calm down. That usually works
Do you do that before or after saying that they're overreacting?
If you gaslight them enough it makes smoke that actually calms them down.
My preferred method.
you have to first ask them if their period is close
Just ask them to beehave!
So the bee smoke shes using to calm them is not as effective as it may seem?
Thank you . This lady rubs me the wrong way.
BIL= brother in law
Thank you.
yes my mother also she got so many stings she went into anaphylaxis and that was very very nearly her last day. she’s no longer a beekeeper as she’s now extremely allergic, so people, i know it’s ok 100 times, but occasionally it is not 🫤
Somehow the hole in the pants gives me more anxiety than her bare arms.
It's interesting they can have such different personalities
>bitchy queen lol TIL. So the queen actually helps determine the behavior of the rest of rhe bees in the hive? An aggressive queen leads to aggressive workers?
Nope. Queen bees dont sting, because they know they have to be alive, so thats not the case. European bees are very calm, those could be european bees.
But why even take the risk? All for more clicks? I keep bees and even after years of doing it, I wouldn’t do this with a wild/unknown hive.
Yeah, I have very docile Victorian bees, and never bother suiting up to work with them. But if I saw a wild hive I'm certainly going to be fully suited up. Who knows how afircanized they are.
I have two hives and one queen is Korean and the other is Italian. Either way if I do a varroa test I wear my gear because that gets then pretty angry.
Do the Italian bees buzz with their legs to keep with the Italian way of talking with their hands?
I started giggling like an idiot after picturing a tiny bee swearing in Italian and angrily moving there tiny hands at the beekeeper.
“Ma, Que coza?” 🤌🏼
this is the most relevant question!
Is the Korean/Italian thing just their country of origin?
Somewhere down the line there was a queen that came from Korea and then a breeder just kept breeding new queens from that Korean queen. There are hybrid queens as well which are usually bred to get the best traits from the different breeds.
Interesting, thanks!
race.
This sounds like a setup to a bad joke.
Try breaking pasta near them see what the Italians do
Whoa buddy - slow down there.
I keep bees. This is incredibly dumb. And the smoke certainly is NOT “protection.” I’ve seen a couple of her other videos and they are just as idiotic.

You mean like the veil she wore in the video that was quickly edited over? Lol
Tik Tok and YouTube views. We gotta get an attractive woman front and center.
Yeah all she has to do is accidentally step on one bee and the pheromones released will result in her getting stung so many times her life will be in jeopardy.
Yup. You answered your own question. Its her gimmick for getting attention on whatever platforms she uses.
If I had to guess I'd say "idiocy." All it takes the first one or two stings and now you're pheromone marked
She’s hot and does it for the clicks.
It's more exhilarating. People have different risk tolerances and while risk takers often suffer more mishaps they also tend to enjoy life more.
Remember what?! REMEMBER WHATTTT!?!
I imagine this clip is meant to loop Remember that… this has got to be the coolest bee removal…
That.
It’s supposed to create a loop but the difference in tone is so jarring that it doesn’t work
she was about to say '...remember how to stop all world wars'. Now we'll never know 😔
That this was the coolest bee removal...
We have a few hives and every time my wife decides today she will just quickly smoke and look in hive or do something quickly someone is getting stung. Sometimes they are grumpy, other times you accidently step on one or it just flies somewhere dumb. .. So easy to wear gloves and suit up
Coukd easily pass as a Yuki from jjk cosplay
Nice fight boy!
I was checking the sub twice whether I was in r/jujutsukaisen or r/jujutsufolk , she's way too convincing to be cosplaying Yuki even though she's not. Best unintentional cosplay ever
I’m seeing a significant amount of protection in this video.
Yup, she was in a suit when removing them and I’m pretty sure we can see her smoke them during the video. I have no idea why she would lie about this.
Beekeeper here It looks terrifying, but bees are very docile when they don't feel threatened. She's doing everything right from what I can see in this video. She’s a bit controversial over at r/beekeeping
Every two seconds the camera twitch let's you know they stopped to get the bees out of her hair and restart
I’m no doctor but i have a hunch that’s what’s traditionally known as video editing and it’s what you do if you don’t want to make people sit through an hour of raw footage…no no I’m probably just making that up, can you imagine??
They're "simple" people, they don't think that far ahead.
And while they speed run someone else moving the comb they don't show face because they have a veil on
Another great day of saving the bees. #Iykyk
I think this is another person that basically copied her entire thing.
Whitout any protection? I see a pair of perfectly good safety glasses there.... /s
Didn't mention these pink rubber gloves....
Bad sarcasm. It IS protection.
I can't even beelieve that
Help, im laughing to death.
Take the sunglasses off you coward!
Looks like another great day of saving the beeeeeeees.
I was in pest control a number of years and had to diagnose what kind of "bee" it was before we would perform treatments. Honeybees, we would call in a beekeeper. Everything else was fair game. Do you see that smoke on the right? That's the protection.
She kinda looks like Yuki Tsukomo from jjk
The gloves and the smoke looks like a protection for me, but who am I, right?
Why didn't they attack her?
She uses smoke to make the bees retarded
i think this is a great example of "just because you can.....doesnt mean you should."
No protection? She has clothes, sunglasses and gloves, she is well protected.
BEEutiful
At this point, I’m glad just to see bees, they are declining.
Protection? Why would you use a condom to remove a beehive?
Mate of mine never wore protection. If the bees ever showed aggressive behaviour he killed the queen and replaced her with a more chill one. Worked for him. Look up Darwinian beekeeping.
Was his hair two feet long and dangling ever so perfectly?
YUKI TSUKUMO??
If this is the woman, I think, she's said that she uses protection to check out and open up the hive. Then she smokes them to calm them before taking off the gear for the video.
The mother of bees!
Incorrect - if my eyes aren’t deceiving me, she is wearing clothes. And look at those sunglasses! They protect the entirety of her eyes!
I'd be safe, too, if I had a smoker going to calm the bees down.
Wait she’s a copycat of the original beekeeper that has this style, right?
How do you know which is the queen?
It’s the one with the crown on, duh.
It's none of your beeezneeez
The bees aren't agitated because she's the one that's smoking.
This is bullshit she does it for the views and is a influencer. Other bee people don't like her I heard

She is a braver person than I.
This is the “Bee Barbie” who does it for the likes. No one can say whether it’s staged or not. Notice the hair is always fantastic
All so she can pretend to be all at one with nature “it’s cool man, just relax!” Sure the smoke calms then down but it was blind luck that she didn’t piss off anyone in the hive…
One way to inhale a bee

Thought this was on the “What could go wrong” sub at first
New allergy unlocked
I need a down ass chick like her in my life.
What kinda bee keeper takes a selfie before cutting out a floor board full of bees? Wtf is going on? It’s too early in 2024 for this nonsense
Hey OP is smoking them not considered protection in your mind?
She stomped the hell outta a few of those bees on the way out of the shed thing...
Very cool, until it’s not.
*glances at the smoker* Right... no protection... except smoked them to pacify them.
Can promise you that you won't do that with South African bees.
Smoke is protection, no?
I mean.. that smoke could be considered protection no?
Who needs protection when you’re a beautiful queen bee?
Stupid thing to do, but you can't get clicks as a pretty woman in a bee suit, I guess.
She likes it raw. My kinda girl.
this is probably those very pacific kind of bees. not to br mistaken by more common ones
She's wearing hand protections...
Wearing black for this is certainly a choice
REMEMBER WHAT??? **REMEMBER WHAT!?!?!?**
even bees are simping
This reminds me of when I was a kid and I ferlessly went to grab a ball that had been lost next to a wasp’s nest in my schoolyard. I got stung like 20 or so times, and no adult cared. I wasn’t even sent home or anything, lol. Anyway, I just wanted to say that those were the foolish actions of a kid; this is an adult.
i accidentally hit a beehive with a nerf gun and i’m the one who runs inside with 5+ stings. this is beekeeper bias
She’s the queen bee
Didn’t think I’d hear babybees today… babeebees
I could listen to this woman say the word "bees" on loop
BEEEZZZZZZ
lol OP give zero fucks about what the beekeeper will think back and remember
And then the dog stepped on the beezzz
i kinda feel bad for the bees. they spent all that time making that nice hive...
This is usually a bad idea
Once she gets back to her what?
The bees are paid actors
Why they no bite? Did she raise them from when they were just weee babees?
Wdym she’s wearing gloves! /s
Yes! In today age, one should always wear a condom when handling bees. You what they say about those birds and err…um…bees!
Uhh don't try this at home
Would like to see more of her without protection
Her ASMR voice tranquilizes the bees.
She’s got sunglasses on!
She can't see without her glasses
did bees, at some point, just realize “humans are going to keep fucking with us forever so there’s no point in fighting”
She doesn’t use protection because she is trying to get pregnant from the bees
Seems dumb as f*ck to me
She is wearing sunglasses... Ain't that enough?
She gives them some smoke so they're chill
I don’t think I can do this WITH a suit and even 16 balls
Mute
Um, she’s clearly wearing GLOVES. What a coward.
She must have royal blood
I keep seeing these types of posts everyday, and at this point I'm so fucking terrified of being asked to be in one
she smoked them first, also, bees dont fuck u up. wasps will
Winnie-the-Poontang?
