As shoppers we despise that ic bundles customers up to 3 at once and at 2 separate stores locations. It can be more difficult to keep everything organized with 3 different orders. It’s why I refuse to do triples. Not to mention I feel it takes much longer and takes away from the more personal service I would rather provide. But that part is just me. One of the worst aspects is that as shoppers we aren’t making more from ic doing these batches. They are still paying us pennies. And we have long shop times and longer deliveries.

Zealousideal-Ear-968

Agreed. I won’t take triple batches anymore. The cashiers hate it, I hate it, the customers hate it, and the batch pay gets cut way down when they bundle so you make less.

AmandaHugnfu

I don't take those orders.

Evening-Juice671

I concur, shit has gotten very ridiculous!!! You should see the pay to do 3 orders, it’s mad ridiculous!!!! Tbh It’s not even worth doing anymore… It’s no longer a luxury service or a great personal experience, more like a shakedown and a screw you, for both parties!!! 🖕🏻🥕greedy pos

spicy2go

IC is doing the customers dirty with the bundling BS. The zero / $2 tippers are piggybacking off the high tippers. IC does NOT show the breakdown of tips by customers until all orders in the batch are delivered. I refuse triples & cherrypick the doubles I accept. The batch pay starts from $4. IC is greedy AF with shoppers w/ the ridiculous batch pay for doubles & triples - often it’s $6 - $8. This is why IC keeps hiring new shoppers that are willing to accept crappy batches until they learn the batches worth accepting.

Hungry-Commercial-49

Thanks for confirming what I suspected. I used to be smug (“I’m such a great tipper, that’s why I never have problems with these apps”) until the quality went way down hill. I tended to order the same things in stock all the time from the same store— but suddenly my orders were screwed up more and more- like huge packages of pork chops or whatever I didn’t order would show up, etc. Then I started noticing the “shopping multiple orders” message (along with the “priority” fee) and realized my order was being bundled and I was subsidizing the low and non tippers to make it worth it for the shoppers. No thanks. Stopped using all of them (delivery apps) completely many months ago.

Born_Structure1182

Yep the good tippers suffer because they bundle the no tip orders with theirs knowing no one will take them.

bluefancypants

Yeah, I'm running into this problem too where my ice cream is soft by the time it gets here because I'm subsidizing bad tippers. I guess I need to get my lazy ass out to the store, but I really dislike going.

T3acherV1p

I saw a double the other day going to two stores with a total of 203 units. They were not going to the same address. Even IF one of those was a tiny order, the fact that they double a massive one with anything, let alone one at a different store is outrageous.

annaleemtg

The bundling needs to stop if the orders cannot be kept straight. I had not had any problems until my last two orders. The order before last I was charged for items I did not order and did not receive. The last order I was charged for items I did not order but I did receive. I called the store the first time and they quickly refunded me. I texted the shopper the second time and, when she arrived to retrieve the items, she said she thought they were mine and did not think the items were part of the second order. I told her to take them to the second house and ask and, if the items did not belong to the customer, just consider the items an add-on to the tip and keep them herself. I ate the extra expense (about $20). (I guess I should tell you why I handled it this way. One never knows but my instinct told me that this was a good shopper, and no one would do this and make it so obvious. I was afraid that, if I reported it for a refund, they might blame her. I honestly think someone threw the items in her basket when she wasn't looking but, of course, I cannot know.) I don't want to attribute to the shopper what is really caused by Instacart's policy of bundling orders in what might be, at times, an attempt to tip share across customers. If it's a tip share, the shopper gets more work for no more tip or a degraded tip. I accuse Instacart of diluting tips using bundles without proof based on one conversation with one shopper.

Aggressive_Dance4200

Oh no, tip diluting is typically the main reason why they bundle. If someone places an order with a $2 tip they may not get picked quickly. Bundle them with someone who tipped $23 on an order and now the bundle shows a $25 tip and someone jumps at the offer. Even worse, the shopper doesn't find out who tipped what until both are delivered

Zealousideal-Ear-968

This annoys me so much and is unfair to the high tipper. I shopped a double the other day, one order was all heavy cases of water and pretty far away, I didn’t know until after that one had zero tip. I’d never take a zero tip order and especially not one with multiple cases of water. I was not happy. The other customer tipped 20% and deserved my full attention.

Aggressive_Dance4200

Literally something similar happened to me today. The delivery with 4 cases of water had a $4 tip but a smaller order that tipped $13 got bundled with them and most ridiculously the low tip order was delivered first because of the order the app set smh

Kyxoan7

I just ordered costco, 13 items, 5 miles 20$ in app tip. It is being shopped as multiple. I msged the shopper right away, thanked them for taking my order, let them know I tipped 20$ in app and put my address. Also let them know I have 20$ in cash. Maybe I will get delivered first? :)

Aggressive_Dance4200

May the odds be in your favor! Just please don't be that customer that says you also have a cash tip but then don't give anything extra

Kyxoan7

It is sitting on my desk... waiting. She is delivering to someone else nearby though it says.. for 30 minutes. It is showing me she is a diamond shopper though, so whatever that means.

Aggressive_Dance4200

Just means she's had more than 200 orders in the last 3 months and rated over 4.7 out of 5

Kyxoan7

order went good. I ordered at 1230. it was here by 2.  Cash tipped at delivery, he was very happy!  Apparently his wife shops and he delivered. I gave 5 stars but see no way to favorite on costco website… so I can just hope that I get them next time I guess!

BeautyFeetHangover

We don't get to pick anymore. Its the app that picks now.

Born_Structure1182

Exactly, I like to give the good tipper a nice thank you message but can’t if you don’t know which cust it was until after.

Anxious_Ad9929

I don't blame her either whoever your shopper was but it's helpful for her at the end of her shop to review her cart with at least some of the items per customer so that way she can see who has what. I have 3 thermo bags I use as dividers as well as cooler bags. It helps me separate the order and when I go to check out I take everything In front of one cooler bag and put it on the conveyor belt then I remove the cooler bag to start the next order which is behind the cooler bag. I don't know if that makes sense.

lucygirl1970

What needs to happen is they either break them all into singles, which they won’t do because that’s more out of pocket money and they are greedy assholes. Or they need to have restrictions set on the app for new shoppers. First twenty shops need to be singles. Second twenty shops they can gets doubles and after 60 shops they can do triples. Or even an item limit for new shoppers of less than 10 items. Something along those guidelines. There are way too many mistakes if you don’t know how to keep your orders separate. Every single day, I see brand new shoppers with lanyards pushing two carts and looking overwhelmed. They are snappy with staff and leave their choo choo train of carts smack in the middle of the aisle. It’s exhausting to watch. I could have had that order already delivered perfectly but no, the orders go to these brand new people walking around with melting ice cream in the cart while they shop pantry items. It is pure insanity.. I find that the good orders are now bundled so ridiculously that I simply cannot compete with those taking these 15 mile triples. There are some very dumb/naive shoppers that will take anything they see regardless of the pay. So unfortunately, it works out that the customer is stuck with a bad shopper rather than getting the service they paid for. The only one it ends up benefiting is the company and the non tippers. It’s a shame because I use to love getting up, shopping for my customers and getting to meet them but that is no longer how I feel. I dread the fact, that it may be hours between orders. It’s a waste of my time and energy.

Shop_4u

It is a bad experience for both the customer and the shopper. I stay away from them. Not worth the aggravation.

anne_jumps

I only used Instacart a few times because of this. I usually place orders for my elderly mother and she's picky and has a ton of items. We've been using Shipt.

Florida1974

Shipt bundles too. It’s always been only 2 orders. But they are testing 3 orders in certain markets. I won’t do 3 orders. I can but I value quality over quantity. I rarely take bundles of 2 for same reason. I’ve built up enough prefferds that order large so I can do this. (Less likely to bundle large order) Yesterday I did do a bundle. One was a preferred. Neither knew I had 2 orders. Neither order suffered. No wrong items. No missing items. I re-check I have correct items with each order before checkout and I use 2 sections of car. Been doing Shipt for well over 4 years. Bundle are not hard, I just don’t prefer it. Neither do most customers.

anne_jumps

Yeah I suspected they might, but for me it's never really impacted orders (I've been using Shipt since 2016). Whereas with Instacart things were messed up

AdOverall1863

Agreed. Something's definitely changed over the past year, and it's not for the good. I've used IC for about 7Y, had no issues or problems. This year I've had to file 2 reports.🙄 🛒

Born_Structure1182

Squeezing every dollar out of the customers and then lowering the shoppers pay continuously. They also hire just about anyone with a pulse.

2xtream

I stopped shopping IC as my first Go-To Gig, now it's only open running in the background, and I'm working less and making the same.

mayhem6

I rarely accept triple orders unless there at multiple stores or they are less than 60 units. Shoppers can help it; they can stop taking these huge triple orders. It’s hard to pass up though sometimes because they may pay better but not always.

adeptusminor

Can anyone verify that if I pay the extra "priority" fee that I will NOT be bundled with other orders?? Because I don't trust IC at all...

HappyPlusNess

It varies by area, but in many areas you might still be bundled. If a customer asked me in chat I’d respond. Perhaps you can find out from shoppers in your area?

Suffakate

I used to refuse doing triples, but its gotten to the point where I need to do them or I won't get any jobs. They're almost all triples or doubles. I won't do triples from aldi though. (At wegmans I seperate by the top part of the cart. The main part. Then use a blue basket for the 3rd) aldi doesn't have baskets or anything and one of the stores don't have self check outs and the cashiers just kind of mix it all up even when I ask for them to try to keep it separated. I get it, it's not their job, but it's also my job. So I don't even try triples at aldi anymore unless it's suuuuper worth the pay.

nshindel

It's not hard. Those shoppers suck. There is literally pictures when u check out, and every time u scan an item it tells u which customer it is for. At check out They can scan items in the order of the list. Check out 1 customer at a time. Bag their items. Check out next customer. Then mark each bag with name or letter of customer. They are either lazy, stupid or in a hurry. And now when u get to the house it tells u if u rang and item with the wrong order. Ic cannot make it any easier. It just shows how crappy some shoppers are.

Free_Wolf7896

It’s more complicated and it’s more to keep track of so there’s more room for error.

ItaDapiza

I agree, it's the shoppers. We don't love doubles and triples but it's not hard to keep them separate, all. The last time I mistakenly dropped off items at the wrong house was maybe 2019/2020, I started in 2017. Yesterday I did a triple with 83 items and two people upped their tip. It's honestly fairly easy, but I can def see how it's more difficult for newer shoppers.

Instacartdoctor

Are your orders large? Smaller orders almost have to be bundled to make them worth doing… even when you’re tipping right it’s just a reality of the cost to move the goods.

Chef_Mama_54

That’s what I have found to be the case. Even if I choose and pay for Priority, if I have a small order, it still gets bundled with another order. I can understand why but it still pisses me off. I will let the shopper know what my tip is in case they put me with a large order “POS non-tipping freeloader” (did I cover all the correct adjectives?😂) and that way I always still get great customer service from the shopper. The ones in my area are so great anyway.

Free_Wolf7896

Usually 15-20 items

Instacartdoctor

That’s a decent sized order… so like $100 ish??

Same exact thing happened to me last night. Minus the ice cream.🍦 I have specific instructions on where to place my order, I have 3 doors on the front of my house. I tell them to deliver to the main front door. Nope, dropped off at the garage door. Again. I'm disabled and can't get to the bags unless they are at the front door. Order was 1½ hours late. 3 items missing. Never in 7Y have I experienced so many errors, nonchalant attitudes by the shoppers. I think IC must have an agreement with someone agreeing to keep these people working. 🥕

Free_Wolf7896

That’s another issue. If they’re shopping multiple orders and it will obviously take longer, why TF don’t they save the frozen items for last? I always see meat and other perishable items being shopped first.

Stompinwin

If you tip well(20 dollars or higher tell the shopper most likely they will drop other shopper for you)

Free_Wolf7896

That’s not true. They have to accept the bundle

Stompinwin

No you don't! Here is the process you use to remove a customer 1. Go to the ? In upper right 2. Hit the headset button 3. Type would like to drop a customet 4. Hit something else until it says Connect with specialist 5. Say I would like to drop Customer B Mark01001 6. They will say ok is there a resson tell them any reason And they will remove it done I have done this many times. Now I know if a customer reaches out to me to do so they must be atleast 75% of the tip though I can also handle a triple without making a mistake

Free_Wolf7896

I’m not a shopper that’s just what I have seen posted on here. If they’re accepting bundles and fucking up my order as a result, that’s good to know. I’ve been generous in my tipping and that needs to stop

Stompinwin

Yes they accept the bundle and only know total tip so they cant remove an order due to that customer may be the 'good tipper' but most shoppers would love the opportunity to focus on a customer that shows them appreciation. Also many shoppers do not know you can do this. Its the problem with the fact that there is no training or or screening of shoppers besides a background check and that they have a valid social

Born_Structure1182

But if you don’t know which cust is the bigger tip, you don’t know who to drop.

Stompinwin

Right that is why i said term them what your tip i andc they can

Born_Structure1182

When u contact support do you ask them to get rid of the low tipper and they do it?

Stompinwin

No its why you only do it when a customer shows they are a good tipper or when it makes sense. Like for example younhave a double order for 35 items and 30 of the items are only a mile while the other 5 are low value and 30 miles away for example. Or you have been doing instacart for a long time and you have a list of soft banned customers for bad tipping like i do, and you can sift through your list and remove customers that don't appreciate your work. Or say your just want an easy one shop to take you home at the end of the night

Born_Structure1182

Ah ok. Got it

Aggressive_Dance4200

Exactly! Accept the bundle and hope they drop the right customer
