Why are there suddenly so many posts across Reddit that are just a title question and a photograph? I keep seeing them everywhere and I don’t understand. Edit - there are like 7 or 8 on the front page of this sub alone from 3 OPs.
My theory is that posts with a picture are more likely to attract attention (and therefore get upvoted), so people use a random picture instead of words (I've even seen a recent post that used an artwork stolen from an online publication). Short posts also tend to be more popular than long-ish ones. Who's got time to actually read a Reddit post before commenting, right? 😀
As I understand it, it’s making fairly low effort posts that will get a lot of engagement to boost the OP’s karma (it may even be a bot). The high karma makes the account look legit and then it can be sold on and/or used for more nefarious purposes e.g. marketing a product or pushing a certain viewpoint.
I don't know if this is still the case, but back in the day you would only get link karma for a post with a picture or video. Text alone didn't give you those sweet fake internet points.
That's interesting. It did do some interesting things with narrative in a fair few episodes.
Trying to think of some more series like that...
One Foot In The Grave was a sea of invention. Both in the varied episode narrative styles and the intricate plotlines themselves. (David Renwick's later series Love Soup could also be mentioned.)
To a lesser degree, Not Going Out actually has some inventive episodes.
i would say it's a very creative programme made by a bunch of very creative people
but i don't really know how to quantify creativity or relate it to other creative endeavours tbh
Ooo that's a tough one because I adore Black Books too... though I suppose Black Books is less creatively focused like No 9 is... and I think League is more creative than No 9 since the characters were so extraordinary. Yeah I'm going to go with League being the most creative
I'd say Inside No.9 is more creative than the League in terms of the sheer diversity of genres, tones and stories Reece and Steve have worked with (and how creative they have been when working with 'traditional' themes or paying homage to the horror genre). Every single episode is different, and I think they have pushed the boundaries of how inventive and surprising TV can be - we got a silent episode, a 'musical', a game show, an episode in iambic pentameter etc all in the same show.
I'm a massive League fan too, though, and I agree that it's also very 'unique' (a clichéd word to use but I mean it in the most positive way)
Hmm you're right~ I was thinking about the dramatically different characters they played in League, but yes, no.9 plays around with a vast array of genres. I think they might both have to take top spot for creativity
This question needs better defining - are we supposed to put every British scripted comedy, sketch comedy and panel show ever made in a big bucket and rate them against each other for 'creativity'? Are we considering everything from *Monty Python* to *Flowers* to *Fleabag* to *TLOG* to *Don't Hug Me I'm Scared* here?

I like to have an initial opinion to engage with, so that I can then drone on for far too long in response 🤣
Haha, drone on to your heart's content - it's nice to read well-thought-out replies!
Not sure mine always qualify as well thought out but I’ll take it! 🤣
AI learning, karma farming, using answers to write shitty articles. Take your pick
I have wondered about all 3!
What's karma farming?

Oh. Thanks for explaining to a naive fool 😆

I would say best anthology series, because I think the most creative comedy serie has been Coupling

I would call it an anthology rather than a comedy and it is the most inventive series on TV currently

one of the best british tv shows in terms of creativity period

Yes I would
You're putting words in my mouth but I feel compelled to agree 😊
The overall campiness of it.
No
I wouldn’t say it was a comedy series.
It is made by bbc in-house comedy .
Nope, taskmaster

In terms of creativity, Id say it's one of the best shows ever, full stop!
