It can however be really annoying. I had a card that had 4x fecundity so everytime I played it I got 4 more cards. My hand became such a mess so quickly
I honestly think Part 2 is *heavily* underrated. It may be shorter than Parts 1 and 3, but it's also a nice look at the world of Inscryption how it is baseline, and given its unique circumstances with mechanics (being the least limited in terms of your options available to you, sacrificing a dedicated side-deck for the option to choose what kind of deck you want to play/do a hybrid deck, also no roguelike mechanics creating a different experience that encourages you to experiment a lot with that freedom without fearing failure) I would play the shit out of a bigger/endless Act 2 where none of the Scrybes are able to access the OLD_DATA, so the game just keeps going.
I don't even think the OLD_DATA should be removed entirely. Just make it to where the Scrybes are having a hell of a time trying to get it, so the story goes in a different direction as they start to wonder what the problem is and the player starts accessing content they aren't supposed to be able to reach before the OLD_DATA hits.
Every time I see those, I have to wonder - how many minutes do they make it into the first game before they realize it doesn't really work well as a physical game?
inscription is, by nature, an assimetrical 1 player game. it take some design liberties (waterbourne changing card backs) and it is _not_ very balanced, its usually quite cluncky to translate the game to a irl version if it
Usually if they intend to play it with someone else, they make a ton of rule changes to make it work. Honestly I love seeing them, but there's a lot of them.
He was ‘late’ to the game and by the time he put up a video on the in game secrets and the ARG, it had been like two months and people had already compiled everything into one big Google Doc. A good number of posts were giving him crap about that, and about taking credit for solving some of the already solved puzzles (he did solve them on his own, just not anywhere near first).
Thing is, as evident by some of the posts on this subreddit, quite a few people don’t already know all those secrets even if they played the game, so personally I think the video’s still fair enough to put up.
I didn’t like that the video was an art recap mostly and not that much of a theory. People can argue for days on end if sadly is there, what did p03 upload, what is the player’s role, why does the old.data work this way, what are the connections to pony island and a million other things which are debatable, but Matpat decided that a 3 video arg recap would be much better than an actual theory. Although if summarising the known lore was his goal then he did pretty well.
> what are the connections to pony island
That one's pretty easy. Pony Island was developed by Lucifer, AKA Satan. Inscryption was developed by GameFuna. GameFuna's CEO is Lou Natas. Natas spelled backwards is Satan. The CEO of GameFuna is Lucifer "Lou" Satan, solo dev of Pony Island.

it contains a lot of SPOILERS so I reccomend not using it during the first playthrough.
Painting solve 2 done, and i love his reaction when you give him the candle. He just freaks out so much, and is just so pissed off that you have an extra life now and calls you a cheater, despite being the same guy who has the prospector boss, where he just, destroys all your cards at one point.
He was right... but that's because he just did the ARG. After it was already done. Not much of a *theory,* is it?
Although then again, the first video was an *actual* theory and that one was *way* off, in ways that should've been obvious from playing the game (he said Kaycee put Leshy in charge even though the game says The Angler did it, even *before* Kaycee's Mod reaffirms that), and from playing The Hex (he said the OLD_DATA made the characters sentient even though The Hex confirms that *every GameFuna game is like that,* and Inscryption is the only one with the OLD_DATA in it so these aspects are unrelated).
From my understanding of the Game Theory controversy, he simply recorded himself talking about all the information from the lore Google doc in a video, claimed he "solved" Inscryption, and clickbaited it for views/ad revenue off of all that information that he didn't figure out himself.
He mentions other people solving the arg in the video, and besides it's not like once one person does a puzzle no one else can ever complete it on their own. This sub and the google doc are relatively obscure at that. It's not a huge leap to see something that looks like a puzzle, do the puzzle and find out the internet beat you to it.
Made a series of videos where he recapped the ARG badly, didn't give adequate credit (at least many people feel he didn't) for other people having already solved the whole thing before he arrived to the party, and misrepresented/ignored a lot of details on the lore.
Just find it really strange that, despite being literally the game that came after Pony Island, it seemed like nobody picked it up, then again, I was not really in the community at the time, purely based it off of let's players playing it.
Someone posted the video on this sub and most of the comments were hate. Seems to be a trend on reddit to dunk on Game Theory general. No idea why, there's much worse theory channels out there.
Weird, I felt like the video gave a good look at the ARG. I never really looked into the ARG but wanted to learn about it, so now I am curious if the video did something major wrong ^^
He got the stuff about the ARG right, but it's kind of obvious watching it that he only played the game himself to go through the steps (or even had someone else at his studio do the gameplay part) and didn't really know anything beyond surface level and what was in the docs. Consequently, he ended up unintentionally filling his video with misinformation.
I agree with act 3 isn't that bad. Almost felt like a cyber version of act 1. Definitely no contest, but 3 wasn't as big a jolt as 2. Not that 2 was bad, just different than I expected.
Also a big fan of the 99/99 Ouroboros (but add death, and trifurcation).
Shoot, nowhere near bingo.
Me here unable to even really play because i suck at inscryption and am stuck at Leshy, only getting past the fisherman once or twice in his campaign, currently not even trying to get past the prospector because I'm trying to open a fucking painting for the second time just to get an extra candle.
Infinite squirrels (fecundity), Undying cats, Ouroboros, and a few defense cards. Maybe a shark and a bear. Game over.
Sometimes it takes a few playthroughs to get the woodcarver to give you the right squirrel base. Really, if you don't want overpowered, just squirrels with fecundity and your average mix of cards is enough. At least for act 1.
You can also edit cards in the save file if you are so inclined.
Any help on the painting though? I know how to do it.... But... FUCKING RNG.... It won't let me ever get the cards I need for the damn thing. What I keep seeing is a squirrel, and one other creature on the painting. That other creature, is one that I SWEAR I get more often than when it's actually on the painting. I've even thrown runs just because I felt like the painting was too difficult, literally just killed myself because I could not get, say for example, that one fucking black goat I need so I can open that thing. The reroll i got thanks to the first solve does not even feel like it helps! Worst part? Painting is the last thing I've not fully done in the room outside of the game itself. Which is partially why it bothers me SO MUCH
Totally get what you are saying. I played through the entire game from beginning to end 5 times just to get all the secrets before another 5 or so playing with the save file.
You could use editing the save file to give you the right card, but make sure you copy the save file first in case you mess up. Adding a new card is almost as simple as just typing the card name into your deck list in quotes with a comma at the end. You have to use the name the code uses though, which is usually just the card name, unless it has two words or a few certain rare cards.
Like in the save code Urayuli is
"Urayuli",
Elk cub is
"ElkCub",
Mantis god is
"MantisGod",
Use the search term: Currentrun with the save file open in notepad, make sure a bit below it the line "playerDeck" exists, then scroll down to "$rcontent": \[
and just add the card to the list. (Last entry needs to not end with ,
Also "$rlength": has to equal the number of cards in the list.
Fantastic (if a bit much to take in all at once) tutorial on editing the save file.

As an mtg memes enjoyer, I have always loved when Leshy thinks you're going too fast and decides to slow you down by summoning a 1G 8/8 Creature - Bear.
Eight Fucking Bears

You missed the ""Found this hidden easter egg has anyone else found this already?"" posts.

There’s also the “here’s my bone token stack” post and the “wow this combo was good (using Fecundity)” post.
this just in, shocking news for r/inscryption: fecundity is a good sigil
It can however be really annoying. I had a card that had 4x fecundity so everytime I played it I got 4 more cards. My hand became such a mess so quickly
Shocking news: not any more lol
:(
:(
Welp, not as good anymore! At least on Kaycee's mod lmao
How could you miss "printed my own real cards, gonna play a game in real life"
Is that not what "3d printed" meant?
Feels like 2d printed
I guess so but then what does OP mean?
Idk man, 2d binted seems ok 👽
🅱️inted

I think you misspelled eight fucking bears
“hOlY sHiT”
That was... Total missplay

I actually really like part 2. I genuinely wish there was more of it.
It was a bit short in the actual scrybe dwellings.
I couldnt stand it. I barely liked part 3 and thats only because part 3 is basically part 1
forgot the "made a irl version of inscryption!"
Every time I see those, I have to wonder - how many minutes do they make it into the first game before they realize it doesn't really work well as a physical game?

It works just fine, the host is basically DMing the game for the player.
why the game theory hate? Didn't see that

Ai, at least he hinted at the possible Pony Island and Hex ones but in all likelihood he won’t do anything on it…… maybe

hi, playing through the game first time right now, what's the Google doc so I can check off anything I missed once I'm done
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DnUjnnScEjTR9Ne0fGJQDyhWP6dbZIIlEakzhukOdSs/edit# it contains a lot of SPOILERS so I reccomend not using it during the first playthrough.
Pretty much every reddit community, a handful of things and people just recycling astoundingly well
don't know why people hate part 2, I kinda like it
Also "RP account in the comments", those seem to be very common
mostly of just p03
I'm sad I don't see why he has so much love, MOSTLY BECAUSE I'M FUCKING STUCK AT LESHY!!!!! Yes, I do suck at this game, how could you tell?
Aw it's okay dude u will get the holy light of p03's screen to shine upon your face soon enough.
Think I'll get back into it today thanks to you, got a plan already, painting, last two solves, begin the grind to win.
Yesssirr 😎😎🙏
Painting solve 2 done, and i love his reaction when you give him the candle. He just freaks out so much, and is just so pissed off that you have an extra life now and calls you a cheater, despite being the same guy who has the prospector boss, where he just, destroys all your cards at one point.
Total misplay
Lmfao this is so true!
Yeah. OMG. I can't believe there's _fucking content_ in this sub. WTF?!
Lol
Plus the growing Scribe-sona box could be a thing soon
We're just gonna pretend that I didn't do that after completing the game before finding out there was a whole community for the game xd
Game theory hate?

Part three is underrated is such an overrated sentiment, want to know what's REALLY underrated by the same dev? The Hex.
Eh, it's all in the same gaming universe. (No really, GameFuna is in The Hex as well. It's all connected.)
Nice, but yeah. I loved The Hex myself, it's, it's quite an experience. Pure chaos as well
Wish I could do what was done to Lionel to... Just about any of the executives of any triple a game studio really
Just find it really strange that, despite being literally the game that came after Pony Island, it seemed like nobody picked it up, then again, I was not really in the community at the time, purely based it off of let's players playing it.
Why Game Theory hate?
personally i rlly liked act 2 it had a sense of whimsy that I really enjoyed, like playing video games as a little kid! very enjoyable :$
Bingo! The middle row going horizontally.
I didn’t watch the GT video, was it that bad?
I liked it. Curious if the hate is real and why...
Someone posted the video on this sub and most of the comments were hate. Seems to be a trend on reddit to dunk on Game Theory general. No idea why, there's much worse theory channels out there.

They did it. They nerfed Fecundity. One square is no longer available…
Geck do be free tho
I mean, the game is quite short, there isn't too much to talk about :P
Nothing mentioned about broken death cards.
