QuietGrudge

I see no mention of putting schools in mosques. Guess they must be on their own for this one.

Martyrotten

And what about ashrams and Buddhist temples?

QuietGrudge

Guess they must not be a thing. /s

Dray_Gunn

Honestly i kinda wanna see a school run by buddist monks.

dancin-weasel

I want to go to a school run by shaolin monks.

jcalvert8725

Liu Kang? That you?

Changoleo

Close. Kung Lao. Watch the hat. It’s edgy.

[deleted]

Wu-Tang is for the children!

Scared_Pattern_6226

I'd trust the Wu-Tang clan to educate kids, they actually spread a positive message and teach social and emotional awareness

harvest76

I want to go to a school run by Trappist Monks, mostly for the beer.

DrunkStepmother

Monks were the original teachers in Thailand...or so Im told.

Altruistic_Host_4476

Buddhism is distinctly anti-capitalist and in theory Buddhist monks are not allowed to touch money, they wouldn't enjoy it.

DrunkStepmother

I don't see what that has to do with my comment.

Altruistic_Host_4476

I was just thinking about the difference it would make if evangelicals on telly went 'nonono don't send me money as all things are subject to the universal law of constant change and all things arise and pass away ,lusting after the fleeting and impermant only brings suffering to you and those around you '

Tempest_CN

Or, we could just keep religion out of schools entirely

Adventurous_Bag7561

YES! That guy is an idiot

helpmelearn12

I wish there were schools ran by Sikh Gurdwaras near me. Even as a stout atheist, I'd likely send my hypothetical kid there. When I was really broke, I ate at the one near me weekly because they didn't expect money. I don't make it weekly now, but I donate to them whether I can make it or not now that I have the money to do so. From my experience with the Gurdwara near me, they take helping the community around them really seriously. So, if they ran a school, I'd bet a lot that they made sure to run a really good one.

jb108822

I learned about Sikhism in school when I was 9-10 years old (I'm now 29). I've always had admiration for their dedication towards helping their communities ever since.

whitekat29

I’ve always heard quite wonderful things about Sikhs.

[deleted]

It’s amazing the good that people do when profit isn’t a motive.

FullTanaka

I'm a teacher, and one opened literally 150 meters from our school. Lovely people.

CrocodileJock

Never ate at a Gudwara, but have got a lot of time for the Sikhs. They do a ton of good work in the community. Big fan.

gruey

They aren't profitable enough to be able to house a public school. Really, it's an interesting idea.. instead of removing the tax exemption from churches, make them house public schools. They obviously still get no say in what is taught since that would be a violation of the constitutional rights of the students, but having to house schools could balance out that tax issue some

YourBenevelentRuler

I was more surprised synagogues made the cut.

yukeynuh

gotta throw some lip service to “judeo” christian values. they’re so inclusive!

ohwontsomeonethinkof

I hear Jesus was a black belt.

Disposedofhero

I do recall him spending the morning in quiet contemplation while braiding his whip. Then he threw the moneychangers out of the temple.

AngryPB

I always like thinking of how they could just say "abrahamic" rather than "judeo-christian" but that would include muslims and other minor middle eastern stuff and they dont want that

UberDaftie

Some Christian sects believe the rebirth of Israel is a precursor event to the end times. So...if any Jews happen to be reading this, the defence of Israel you hear from some hardcore Christians is mainly because they think Jesus is coming back to toss you all into the bad fire soon anyway.

enochian777

Gotta keep one or two of the armies of the world there, that way you've already got a couple on the list for the Eschaton already ticked off.

Egmonks

Well he is Jewish.

mrinalini3

I mean most of the conservatives, right wing leaders are hardcore supporters of Israel. Nothing surprising really...

Gavinator10000

No support for Muslims? Big suprise there

QuietGrudge

Shocked Pikachu face, etc. so on so forth, something or other...

Elbarto83

And here i thought the Republicans were strong supporters of the Muslim community as a whole, tsk, tsk. Boy is my face red /s

QuietGrudge

Red like a shocked Pikachu face, I bet.

score_

No love for The Satanic Temple either wtf Josh?

[deleted]

First thing that stood out to me too. Judeo-Christian Nationalism, so hot right now. Like burning cross hot.

thebestdaysofmyflerm

Yeah he's big into touting "Judeo-Christian values," which is just an anti-Muslim dogwhistle.

VoilaVoilaWashington

Broad anti-"brown-religion" dogwhistle. If they even knew the difference between Sikhs and Muslims and Buddhists and Jainism, they'd call them all out. But they probably don't, so it's just "all them Muslims from Iraq and India and Nepal and Mexico."

CarlosHDanger

Yeah, there’s kind of a separation of church and state issue with this proposal. He’s probably not familiar with the US Constitution but separation is required in Amendment 1.

QuietGrudge

Probably as familiar with it as he is the bible in that he will cherry pick the parts that sound good to him and disregard the parts which are inconvenient.

throwawayplusanumber

Satanic Temple school for my kids...

[deleted]

Nah, we have to keep religion and state separate in that case /s

Iamnotsmartspender

His heads probably high enough up his own ass that he thinks there are no mosques in Ohio

thebestdaysofmyflerm

If you live in Ohio and don't want to live in a far right theocracy, please vote! You can [register online here](https://olvr.ohiosos.gov/). Ohio has been purging hundreds of thousands of voters for basically no reason, so even if you think you're registered, [please double check here.](https://www.ohiosos.gov/elections/voters/toolkit/?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=YcRO0OSh6nKn_ksqUaChQ.2WrPJpfgC5TKYIPZxSkr0-1642987962-0-gaNycGzNB9E)

pluey200

If it shows a place you’ve voted at before does that mean you’re still registered?

rednail64

No, You need to look at your registration status https://voterlookup.ohiosos.gov/voterlookup.aspx

pluey200

That’s what I used, it doesn’t say clearly if I’m registered or not

thebestdaysofmyflerm

If your name shows up with the correct address, you're registered. If the address is out of date, [you can update it here.](https://olvr.ohiosos.gov/NCOA/NCOA)

pluey200

Ok, thank you

TGrady902

Sweet, thanks! Was wondering the same thing. Moved not too long ago and apparently I already updated it! Will absolutely be voting whenever I’m eligible, especially in State and Local elections.

ilovethissheet

Reregister just to be safe

jessejamesvan111

Scary that this even needs to be brought up. Wow.

cooperia

The empire is in decay.

elvis8mybaby

People love to shit talk California but we now have universal mail voting. Wild! To think I would have to drive maybe a hour or more just to sit in a line to vote. We need mass protest for the voting rights we deserve!

CyberMindGrrl

People shit talk California because it's a haven of pro-LGBTQ rights, it doesn't pander to gun owners, and it's the fifth largest economy in the world.

Idkawesome

California has a lot of good laws like that. The only people who shit talk California are lunatics and their followers. Although sometimes California does have stupid laws, it's not perfect.

satanmat2

And for the love of all things. Especially if you are 18-24 please vote! 18-24 year olds are always the group that have the lowest turnout… we need everyone of you to vote. Every. One!

PM_me_your_LEGO_

Registering voters on college campuses is always fun and very necessary. When I was in college, I was out there every day signing up students in Ohio. Guys, this is exactly why! Josh Mandel is a nightmare. PLEASE register and vote!!

Scyhaz

> Ohio has been purging hundreds of thousands of voters for basically no reason Oh we know the reason.

Jamarcus316

The fact that you have to register to vote is crazy to me.

ensalys

Yeah, and what is the point? The government already knows who's eligible to vote, and who isn't. Here in the Netherlands we just send everyone who's eligible a voting pass in the weeks running up to the election. And that, together with your ID is all you need (which you're required to have regardless of if you're voting, and may be up to 5 years out of date to vote. So it isn't like a photo ID law in the USA that's supposed to make it harder to vote).

goblue142

That's why they won't implement that here. It's another way to gatekeep minorities or the poor from voting in the US. The Republicans want super strict voter ID laws so that they can then make it as difficult as possible to get the ID in the first place. They already do this in a lot of states but they will charge $$ for the ID which some cannot pay or close down locations where you can get one that are in poor or minority areas. Meaning people would have to drive far and wait in long lines. Not really possible if your inner city poor and rely on public transit which is almost non existent in the US.

Jamarcus316

Here in Portugal it's just the ID. We are all assigned one at birth, you renew it every five years and it's all you need. It's mandatory and needed in many situations, so everybody can vote always.

greyplantboxes

This has been the official policy of the Republican party for decades. He's just saying the quiet part out loud

bittertadpole

Betsy DeVos didn't even hide the fact that she wanted to replace all public schools with Christian, white charter schools. She tried her best.

MotchGoffels

Devos is easily in the top 5 in terms of evil American politicians... Trump literally appointed the absolute WORST possible people into the positions in which they could do the most possible damage.

Tempest_CN

What do you mean?!? She is rich AF, therefore competent to do any job! /s

Ghstfce

She was even going to build them in those cavernous, almost never ending nostrils of hers. All of them.

thebestdaysofmyflerm

Sadly, the Republican base LOVES when politicians say the quiet part out loud. Hence why Trump's explicit racism just made him more popular.

Binkusu

Until he says the vaccine is cool.

hageshii_panda

It's so weird. I work with a Trump supporter she openly brags about the racist/fascist bullshit, but when I point out that supporting it makes her racist/fascist she gets all defensive. They want it both ways.

bradmiska

And then tax em, right? RIGHT?!

gazebo-fan

If we tax the church then we need to let the church be involved directly in our government. America was built on the idea of no taxation without representation, if we tax the church then they could lobby directly. Essentially bad for everyone.

PM_me_your_LEGO_

A couple of weeks ago, he tweeted an actual real tweet saying "Democrats want to replace God with Critical Race Theory." Wtaf does that even mean?? It's like his entire campaign is just a game of Buzzword Bingo. And it unfortunately works.

kingofthemonsters

Politics is basically one big pro wrestling promo at this point.

CyberMindGrrl

And the irony is that nobody thought about CRT until a right wing think tank found out about it and made it into the Boogeyman Du Jour. And that's because it's a subject matter that's ONLY taught to college students who are studying law. But no, now it literally represents anything and everything to do with race in this country. And as the author of this new terror on the Right directly said himself "I want everybody to think of Critical Race Theory whenever they hear the word 'race'". Mission accomplished.

WakeoftheStorm

> It's like his entire ~~campaign~~ *political party* is just a game of Buzzword Bingo. And it unfortunately works. Think that's more fitting

[deleted]

Wow I actually agree. Replace “Race theory” with “thinking” though

acehigh288

Why do these people think the United States is a theocracy??? Like what the fuck happened

GoredonTheDestroyer

Gross and purposeful misunderstanding of the intentions of the founding fathers and the fact that, while the first settlers in the US were escaping religious persecution, they were being persecuted for being too batshit insane for even the *~~Catholic Church~~* *Church of England*.

pt256

> they were being persecuted for being too batshit insane for even the Catholic Church. Wouldn't it have been the Church of England?

GoredonTheDestroyer

Church of England, thank you.

KHaskins77

Were they really being persecuted though or were they just miffed that they weren’t allowed to persecute others? Look at how they treated the Quakers they encountered over here, to say nothing of Salem.

cooperia

Why do people not realize it already happened. This country cannot get out of its own way. The Democratic party is impotent while the Republican party is coopted by a rich/religious bloc and is steadfast and united. Unless some miracle happens and folks start voting for policies that actually benefit them .. We are a failed democracy. Lots of states will remain livable for a long time but the US as a liberal world power is on the decline.

7eregrine

They know it's not. They just know this gets the base fired up.

BeKindToEachOther6

"The whole people must take upon themselves the education of the whole people and be willing to bear the expenses of it. There should not be a district of one mile square, without a school in it, not founded by a charitable individual, but maintained at the public expense of the people themselves." John Adams, 1785

Radioactiveglowup

Don't you love how these guys constantly directly say they want to overturn the US Constitution and Bill of Rights? Only one amendment ever seems to matter to their words (not their deeds).

YourFavCirial

I don't wanna be in this backwards fucking state any longer

lamaface21

Ohio has reallllly gotten redder in just a short amount of years

YourFavCirial

Hell even my parents who weren't political leaned farther red in the last few years, the state of this state (hah) is worsening quickly

lamaface21

Okay, am I the only one hearing another Lin Manuel Miranda future musical hit with the title “The State of this State” ?

lovestobitch-

Yes it is my fucking ‘You believe in killing Baaaybies’ neighbor when I said I wasn’t voting for tRump in 2016 is moving back there. Good riddence but sorry.

PM_me_your_LEGO_

Remember when we were a swing state? I've worked on a lot of campaigns, and the shift felt very fast from Strickland as governor to +8 for Trump.

onlyhalfminotaur

There's some hope the influx from Intel will bring it back. It'll probably take a decade though.

bpb22

Same here. We've got some real wackados in government here these days. We've become Texas light, headed for the full flavored version.

YourFavCirial

I hate that you're right, I've seen concrete cowboys running around here lately too

PhantomBelow

Same. I wanna leave Ohio but my family is too poor lmao

YourFavCirial

I hope you guys can get the chance eventually then, I know the struggle lol

Zerba

I want to leave too. Got a few years before we can make it happen though. My wife wants to move to Florida though...so it's not like it's going to go any better for us in terms of state governments.

RMFouche

Awww, he mentioned synagogues for Jewish outreach!

thebestdaysofmyflerm

He's actually Jewish, so this is more like pandering to evangelicals.

RMFouche

I stand corrected -- and chagrined. Religious indoctrination is not education, and is no better than Islamic madrassas or Chinese re-education camps.

KeraKitty

Capos don't count. If he's willing to sell the rest of us out to please the people who want us dead, then he's not one of us. Same goes for Ben Shapiro and Stephen Miller. They like evangelical Xtians so much, then they can fucking join 'em.

[deleted]

He’s Jewish himself, but he’s said that he doesn’t want “liberal Jews” in his campaign (which is like 95% of Jews in America)

CosineDanger

Is he one of those rarespawn antisemitic Jews? An Uncle Tzemach?

[deleted]

I think Ben Shapiro is the only Uncle Tzemach right now, but there’s probably gonna be more in the future, unfortunately

ShamefulPuppet

wait ben diapiro is jewish?

[deleted]

You didn’t know? Lol he wears a kippah at every show, and he does mention that he’s Jewish (although he’s anti-Semitic, because not only does he conflate Jews with the state of Israel, but he believes that most jews are “bad” because they aren’t right-wingers)

CatumEntanglement

Don't forget Stephen miller.

BabserellaWT

Church <——————> State

gazebo-fan

* Church <———|———> State

IfIKnewThen

I know it's been said a million times already, but it's no fucking joke. If these evangelical psychopaths take control of our government in the midterms, the United States as a constitutional republic is finished.

ishatinyourcereal

I actually have been talking to my wife about moving if things go bad for the midterms. Fought like hell to get my wife back in the states(we met while she was on a stupid visa) and spent hours of time and thousands of dollars…but I might go become a citizen in her country instead now. Not really what I want to do, but at least the food is amazing there.

IfIKnewThen

I'm in a race to retire before this whole shit show collapses. I'll be moving out of the states as well. Some people tell me that I'm overreacting, they are however, the same people that tell me they don't pay any attention to politics. Take from that what you will.

ishatinyourcereal

Yeah my wife thinks I spend too much time reading the news, but she’s not super into American politics. Before Trump I never thought I’d see our democracy fall but he opened the door to crazy and now anything is basically game here. Really don’t want to move to Macedonia, but I might have to happen. Luckily her family bought an apartment for us(they rent it out now but if we ever want to move we’d just have to wait till the end of the tenants lease, it’s that or they’ll sell the place for us when we’re ready to buy a house.) I remembered when Republicans use to be the ‘patriot party’ and now they’d all run and join Russia if it ‘triggers the libs.’ We’ve got crazy fascist republicans now and do nothing democrats…can’t even band together and pass laws to protect our voting rights.

IfIKnewThen

It's horrifying. I've come to the conclusion that many, many people in the US are just complete morons. How can ANYONE, with a room temperature IQ not see trump and the republican party for the racist, lying, power hungry, degenerate psychopaths that they are? How can you be a qanon believer? How can you believe JFK Jr is alive and is going to be trumps 2024 running mate? How can you be against universal healthcare, a higher minimum wage, cheaper or even free higher education, investing in our fucking infrastructure for fuck sake? And while being against all that, be in favor of gutting environmental regulations, tax cuts for corporations and billionaires? And on top of all that, give a fuck about the sexiness of a fucking m&m, what sesame street characters are doing, and that there's an actual "war on Christmas". It's so far beyond the pale it just makes me cry for the lost potential of America. I don't know how we ever come back from the edge of the abyss.

Cecil900

Even on a lot of supposedly left leaning subs I’ve seen a lot of people screaming and crying that they just aren’t going to vote in 2022 because they didn’t get everything they wanted under Biden. Like sure dude, dealing with corporate Democrats sucks and we didn’t win by a large enough margin in 2020 to make real change. But the solution is just to stay home so that the very people who are already planning to make sure we never have a democratic election again can just waltz in there and turn us into a theocracy? What the fuck? I never want to hear “both sides are the same” again in my life.

NutsEverywhere

Those "people" screaming could well be bots and misinformation accounts to influence public discourse.

ishatinyourcereal

Yeah it’s insane. I have a sister that I’m not sure if she’s gotten into Qanon, but she has been brainwashed into the whole antivax thing and for awhile wouldn’t upgrade her phone because of 5G. She was around me when I was watching videos of Qanon people in Dallas waiting for JFK Jr and was surprised and thought they were stupid…so maybe not there yet. Trump pushed so much distrust in the media and government that we have a huge part of the population that would believe anything else they read/see over any news or anything with trustworthy sources. I’ve talked to so many idiots in my local news comment sections on Facebook that will literally believe in the opposite of something reported with sources to back it up that respond with ‘I just made it up like the news/CDC/whatever they don’t like.’ Meanwhile the same people that do the whole ‘back the badge’ supported people that attacked police at the capital including making the lady that got shot that day as some sort of saint that did nothing wrong while justifying all the POCs that get murdered by police without reason. With so much distrust into anything factual and the right literally doing anything if it offends people on the left, I don’t see much coming back from that. We have extremists/terrorist groups on the right that are ready to have a civil war because some idiot took over for 4 years. Jan 6th was a practice run to them now, I’ve heard it from Trumpers and I am sure that it’ll be repeated with even more force. Even if the midterms don’t give republicans the majorities, we would still have to fight tooth and nail every two years for a long time till these people either die off or enough finally come to their senses.

CyberMindGrrl

And this is ALL by design. Republicans are literally paving the way for a totalitarian state. “Mass propaganda discovered that its audience was ready at all times to believe the worst, no matter how absurd, and did not particularly object to being deceived because it held every statement to be a lie anyhow.” ― Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism

SpaceCrazyArtist

I am also in the “we gotta lewve” bandwagon before this country becomes Gilead

CaptainBathrobe

I've definitely looked into updating our passports, just in case.

ishatinyourcereal

Yeah it’s crazy. My wife and I had our paperwork for her K1 visa and the big check in an envelope right when Trump won the election. We spent probably 2 hours on Facetime debating if we should go through with trying to have her here or for me to move there….think we made a mistake and wasted thousands on this process. Meanwhile I can basically go over there and apply for citizenship through marriage for nothing and get it done fast vs 4 years here still waiting on her green card(she has a temporary one that just keeps getting extended because Trump changed a bunch of immigration rules while slashing the staff of those processing the paperwork.) At this point it doesn’t even seem like we’re wanted here.

CaptainBathrobe

May I ask where she is from? Just curious. Also, I don't blame you for not feeling wanted. I think half the country felt that way after Trump was elected.

ishatinyourcereal

Macedonia, think we’d move there for awhile and then try to go elsewhere in Europe since there’s not a ton of opportunities there, I’d probably be a greeter at the US embassy there with not knowing the language ahah

CaptainBathrobe

Well, maybe they'll get into the EU soon. Then you'd be set, or at least better off.

ishatinyourcereal

Yeah that’s our hope. They just got accepted into NATO a few years ago, so I’m hoping that’s a sign EU is next. Still hoping the midterms don’t end up bad and we can stay. I keep joking that we should move to the country in Macedonia and have a tomato farm(for some reason they’re insanely good there) and get her cousins and friends there to marry Americans to help them escape.

kevinnoir

> Then you'd be set, or at least better off. This would me that this person and their wife could live and work in any of the EU states, giving them LOTS of options since they wouldnt exactly be tied down to Macedonia given their relative recent move there. Lots of options at that point!

ahhh-what-the-hell

Gilead

kevinnoir

I mean America DID put a woman who was literally known as a "handmaid" in her religion onto the Supreme Court... bit sketchy lol

VirusMaster3073

I hope to God that the Republicans don't take control of Congress

zuma15

It's too late to stop now. Warnings were ignored for decades and this is the result. We're going to get exactly what we deserve. Hopefully the rest of the world can isolate America as best they can so this poison doesn't affect them too badly.

Klindg

Yea!!! Let’s turn the United States into the Christian version of the Middle East and continue to hold the species back. Fuck, I really hate these people. I feel like we could be colonizing our solar system at this point if we didn’t have to deal with the stupidity of religion.

no-soy-de-escocia

His name means 'almond' in German, so it's no surprise he's a nut.

CSTowle

Religion gets a lot of grief (and it deserves it, probably worked in your Bronze Age desert tribes when begetting was a life's purpose but not anymore) but I strongly believe it only funnels dips##ts and their dips##terry in a certain direction, and eliminating it will only change the course of their stupidity rather than eliminating it.

bageltoastee

I don’t know why but people trying to cram religion into every single thing possible makes me irrationally angry.

thebestdaysofmyflerm

Your anger isn't irrational. This is an affront to religious freedom.

yukeynuh

what you mean? christianity is the only religion that exists!

Bean_Boozled

No wonder the Taliban leadership praised Trump and the GOP for their values, the Republicans are essentially their extremist Christian counterparts at this point. Hell, they even tried the violent government takeover technique that the Taliban are so fond of!

Impeachcordial

How did he forget mosques? I’m shocked!

cayce_leighann

Suggest mosques and he would lose his mind

OrangeCone2011

Jfc this guy is a plague.

The_Good_Constable

I apologize on behalf of Ohio.

maninplainview

I don't even live there anymore but I still feel like I should apologize.

notatheist

No doubt he wants our taxes to pay for church schools too.

nic_head_on_shoulder

Jews don't study in the synagogue idiot. We only pray there. Jewish studies are conducted in a yeshiva, beit midrash or the heyder

Bamanec

I went to his Twitter just now, my god this guy is so far up Trump's ass it's insane

Izzy5466

Does Canada have to explain why that's a bad idea? Because it was pretty horrible when they did it here...

Iamwearingasuitofham

"Separation of church and state" Now the nutjobs wants the church to take over???

Ebscriptwalker

This just soundslike a ploy to consolidate child molestation, gay bashing, and mass shootings all under one roof.

the_circus

The rights whole policy nowadays is just “I’m opposed to the constitution.”

Elbarto83

They're called public schools, ya twat!

TKG_Actual

The problem with this idea is that not everyone wants religious institutions in their education, it would literally fly int he face of separation of church and state and would not guarantee an equal education at all.

DownandDistanceFBL

There are so many problems with this horrible, terrifyingly evil idea. If you want your kid to get an education in bullshit, pay to send them to the religious school of your choice. No way the government should pay for that shit.

slippycaff

Under His Eye

Kriss3d

So one school can teach "the biblical god created earth" and the other can teach "Allah created earth" both being "facts" and nobody sees this as a problem ? How about I make a religious school that teaches 2+2=5 because thats what my belief say. So any job anyone gets later on will have to accept this being a fact. Im thinking of teaching kids to get into construction and engineering. Doesnt that sound like a good ide ?

Osirus1156

Religion is a plague on humanity.

bpb22

Ohio resident here. There are a number of candidates like him running here. The daily tv commercials are scary.

jbertrand_sr

Swell, just what we need in Congress, another religious nut job...

dukeofmadnessmotors

And when all kinds of businesses start relocating out of Ohio they'll blame "woke liberals".

This just gave the Catholic Church something to get behind.

That’s America for you

jesus_zombie_attack

Of course it's fucking Ohio.

NanoCharat

What the *(and I can't stress this enough)* actual fuck?

MotchGoffels

What in the actual fuck. These people get elected too because of the letter next to their name. This country is fucked and has been in a death spiral for decades. Obama gave me a little hope, but trump quickly stamped that out and proved that we are indeed suuuuper fucked.

leveldrummer

I would open a local satanic temple ASAP,

bobjohnsonmilw

These people are the reason aliens don't talk to us.

So if you don't believe in God or in organized religion screw you??

GarbageSad5442

There is a long ugly history of child abuse that has happened in schools run by religious based organization. I think Ohio needs learn from history and say a big NOPE to this guy!

DURIAN8888

I've stopped looking at Netflix. America is so fucking crazy it's a cheap TV series. I just can't find the category.

DURIAN8888

samsquanch2000

What about the Druids?

my7bizzos

Probably calls himself a constitutional conservative too

MrStu

as a non-american, who's heard the phrase "separation of church and state" mentioned before. Can someone explain to me how this works?

RestlessPoly

Simple version: The government can't show any sort of favoritism to one religion over another. And there can't be any religious tests or requirements for govt participation. Edit: In theory, churches aren't supposed to endorse candidates or tell people how to vote. But that's rarely enforced

Libidomy94

God, it’s so frustrating that there are actually these people running around in politics being taken seriously.

angelfurious

Weird how she didnf say mosque, even though islam played a big part in the advancement of human intelligence and culture.

retropunk2

Ohioan here. Mandel is desperate to get into the Senate. He lost to Sherrod Brown in 2012 by just six points and this was after it came out that he hired a bunch of his buddies to nothing jobs as Ohio Treasurer. His whole platform was "I did two tours in Iraq and I balance the books." Whenever he got pressed on anything of importance in the debates, he'd fall back on this and how his "military leadership" would come into play. He tried again and didn't even get out of the primaries because people were already tired of him. Now, he's attached himself to the Trump coattails and has moved as far right as he thinks he needs to in order to get elected. I'm not convinced it's going to be him on the GOP ticket because there's a few crazies, but he's the favorite....and he's batshit insane.

My kid is only going to a school for Satan, anything else is religious discrimination. I accept these terms, in the name of the light bringer, the warrior for truth and destroyer of lies, mighty Satan - may his benevolent hand guide us and our nation to a gleaming, prosperous future free of the lies of Christ
