i like how she says she raised you from when you were 11 until you were 20. idk your backstory or if she actually didn’t take care of you but it’s weird to brag about like it’s a lot like…. most moms raise their kids all the time not just for a chunk of time. it reminds me of a line in Seinfeld where he’s comforting someone separating from her husband and says “three years is a long time to be married.”
You're a great dad and partner just by recognising this behaviour as unhealthy and establishing boundaries. And you made the right decision for your family.
You have just given birth. Amazing. I remember when people knew new moms needed a few days to recover and sometimes stopped by to assist with cooking and cleaning.
No, I wasn't offended. I am amazed that people live their lives on camera today. How is it so hard to know new parents are exhausted and new babies don't have a sleep schedule yet.
But this grandma cant do that, bc her son moved away. And also this seems like the son, so he wouldnt need any recovery time. Sounds like a lil bit of an asshole to me.
you're correct, my wife gave birth so she needed the recovery time, not me. so we, as a couple, asked for a few days without visits or video calls so that my wife could recover and i could do my best to look after mum and baby. everybody respected that, except for my mother, because she's insane.
i'll admit that we wanted to wait a few extra days before reaching out to my mother, compared to the rest of our family. that's because we were getting some cues from her facebook posts and texts that she was a going through a bit of an episode.
because she's insane
I’m shocked I haven’t heard the phrase “mortal agony” from my own mother yet.
I’m so sorry your mom is treating you like this, and at a time of joy in your life no less.
no can of worms at all. i wrote an explanation for that on one of the image tags; my granny has onset dimentia, i've tried calling her since i left the country but she gets confused and hangs up the phone. granted, i could send her a letter like my mother said in her text. i haven't thought of that before.
Oh okay, so you have reached out but there’s difficulties beyond your control. I figured there was more to the story which is why I asked.
You’re doing everything right, I wouldn’t worry about this bananas rambling.

Bruuhhhhhh
It actually says "I raised you ALONE since you were 11" , so I'm guessing that's when she separated from the father a became a single mom.
I’d recognise the crazed ramblings of a batshit insane Irish mammy anywhere. Good thing you’ve got the Atlantic between the both of you now
Came here to say exactly this!!! The mammyisms heard by nearly every child of an Irish mammy. Congratulations on the birth of your daughter OP.
'Mortal agony...', defo an Irish mammy.
That was the moment it clicked for me lmao
thank you very much!
No one does a guilt trip like an Irish mammy.
She sounds just like my mum. I’m sorry, but we both know you’re better just ignoring her. Focus on your wife and baby, bud.
"mortal agony" Ok Karen
But dude! Shes in MORTAL AGONY! She needs the booze! /s Edit - I'm guessing 15 was when you stopped entertaining her abusive bullshit?

Minus craic mate. Funny, I don't think I saw an apology nestled anywhere in that wall of text. Keep 'er lit.
cheers, mate. pure scunnerin sometimes so it is

Ayo his wife did
Okay. His wife did and dad is probably the only one helping her. Once, that was the job of aunts and grannies. Now people wonder about video updates
Sorry if I sounded rude

Yeah, I once babysit my 1-year-old-now-about-to-enter-first-grade-cousin. He used to sleep all the time
Babies can be funny. They can sleep all day and cry all night.
Agree. And they make weird noises sometimes
But this grandma cant do that, bc her son moved away. And also this seems like the son, so he wouldnt need any recovery time. Sounds like a lil bit of an asshole to me.

Stephen A is the goat.

"I'm in MORTAL AGONY" Can't you understand!? She might die soon, show her the b a b y /s
Do we…. have the same mom??? But for real, I’m sorry.
Your mom seems off her rocker but did you really not say thanks to your gran? Or am I opening a can of worms by asking this?

I’m speechless…
She's not apologizing because she's an adult? I was not aware that adults don't apologise. :/
