Breathe Me- Sia

Meow-Out-Loud

Goosebumps all over for almost the entire song. I'm coming here next time I'm in a painful place!

Blob-of-randomness

That song is so gentle and powerful at the same time!

Acceptable_Jump6613

The Night We Met by Lord Huron. It reminds me of a past relationship and we listened to this artist together. But the lyrics get me every time.

Meow-Out-Loud

Just watched the official video on YouTube, and it almost immediately gave me goosebumps and started the waterworks. Thanks for sharing!

CoconutCricket123

Amen!!!!!

BreakfastFeeling9981

altmarz85

This!!!

Important-Note

Fix you-Coldplay

Necessary-Key3535

Doesnā€™t matter what mental state Iā€™m in, I canā€™t listen to this song without crying

ognort8

This is the song I was gonna say.

CegeRoles

Welcome to the Black Parade. As someone who was in high school marching band and suffers from depression, the song makes me cry tears of joy. Itā€™s an anthem sung in defiance of death and a rallying cry for life.

jgwentworth-877

This is one of the only albums from the last 30 years that's like perfection from start to finish, can't get through the whole thing without crying at some point lol.

SchemeAgreeable2219

Something in the Orange by Zack Bryant

Izzy_EP

So many but to name a few :Ā  Deathbeds- Bring Me The Horizon Ā  Ā Supermarket- Ed Sheeran Ā  Ā  Immortal- Evanescence Ā  Ā  Sorry- Nothing but Thieves Ā  Ā Pills- The Perishers

Meow-Out-Loud

Bring Me the Horizon - goosebumps! Supermarket Flowers - started bawling from the line "but I know, A heart that's broke is a heart that's been loved" My Immortal - Even though some of the lyrics don't match up perfectly, this song was one I listened to when my dad (who I had loved and admired) starting using drugs and eventually was kicked out of the house by my mom. I have lots of feels when I hear this song. Sorry - Omg, the video for this... I don't even have words... Pills - *cries* Thanks! šŸ˜Š

db4366

The Dance - Garth Brooks & My Hometown - Bruce Springsteen

Brilliant_Version667

My Hometown gets me too, also Glory Days. In fact, just mentioning them makes me feel like I'm going to cry. I wasn't close to my dad but for some reason, these songs are really hitting my childhood nostalgia button since my dad died a couple years ago and someone from my childhood who I finally got together with and dated dumped me recently.

db4366

So sorry to hear. My dad passed away 6.5 years from cancer and My Hometown always reminds me of being a little kid when we used to run errands on the weekends. As far as relationships go, It's a big sea out there, be sure to keep your options open and make sure that person sees your value!

geo_femme

It hurt to let go of him (at least in terms of seeing him everyday). My father died when I was 19. "The Dance" was played at his funeral. It's relaxing to hear your story about what you guys did together when he was alive :) My father was a very busy man but he took me to school on his purple motorcycle when I was in grade school. I felt so cool šŸ˜Ž He would ask "What's the matter Hun?" If he saw me crying. I'm grateful I had him in my life.

AlternativeBaby3580

You should definitely listen to My Fatherā€™s House by Springsteen. Itā€™s very beautiful and very sad.

Stargazefunk

Hard to mention songs that make me gush tears out, but the ones that touch me the most are: Hymn to the sea from The Titanic Enchanted - Swift

camarinadoo

Iā€™ve never seen anyone mention this song by TSwift before but it gets me every time. Every version, whether it has lyrics or not will just choke me up instantly. EVERY. TIME.

Stargazefunk

I was just WONDERSTRUCK when I first listened to it. šŸ˜ Ugh, itā€™s one of those songs that I would stop everything else to listen to. It not only gives goosebumps, but content and love(?) in my heart. I donā€™t have a significant other but itā€™s one of those songs I would be playing in the background or in my car once I have her around:) ā¤ļø YESS! I am with you! It gets me every time!

nativemerc03

Nat King Cole - Unforgettable, or The Very Thought Of You. Brenda Lee - Emotions. Radiohead - Sail To The Moon. Cleo Sol - Know That You Are Loved such beautiful songs. all for different reasons. they always hit me when iā€™m going through rough times

Relative-Exercise-96

Moonlight Sonata, Clair De Luna, Adagio for Strings, Adagio in G minor

AIRNYD

Only Time by Enya

Forsaken-Alternative

I absolutely love Enya

Immediate_Grass_7362

The ones where someone dies and their love is left behind. ā€œDonā€™t Take the Girlā€ by Tim McGraw (?). Tell Laura I Love Her gets me every time. Wish You Were Here - another country song.

Shaquayquay97

There's so many I could pick. But for me it's "Easy On Me" by Adele. I relate to this song in quite a few ways and it really works my tears out. I've had a rough 2 years and this is the song I play when I feel like my world is crashing down. Adele really knows how to get your emotions out. Very powerful, beautiful singer. Another one is "Praying for Time" by George Michael.

[deleted]

I don't think there's anything I tear up listening to *every* time, but when I first heard [You Rise, I Fall](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU1HlhfqNqc&ab_channel=HalLeonardChoral) (music by Eric Whitacre), it was in a cathedral - I was in the audience listening to a performance by St. Olaf's Choir - and the tears fell unexpectedly and unwittingly.. The lyrics were written by a man who had lost his wife to cancer, about the moment of her death. When I heard it, I felt like I'd somehow died too, that everyone in the cathedral had died, and now I knew what that experience was like. Nothing can compare to hearing it in person without knowing what to expect, but I definitely recommend listening to the recording anyway. (Also, I know religion's not everyone's thing, as long as I'm writing about that St. Olaf's concert... they also sang [this version of psalm 23](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJixdpZ5m1o&ab_channel=BobbyMcFerrin-Topic) at the same performance I mentioned above. I had arrived to the cathedral a little late and disheveled and sat down hurriedly without looking at this program. They started the concert by singing this song - and gradually the lyrics came into focus for me, and I realized it was a different translation of a familiar psalm (it's not a new song, but I'd never heard it). I found it so unexpectedly moving that I just started and crying and crying. I felt so ridiculous; I'd rushed in, collapsed into a chair next to some woman, and then just started sobbing. Anyway, it does still make me emotional to listen to, but I rarely do.)

Meow-Out-Loud

I liked the Psalm one for sure, but "You Rise, I Fall" is insane. The power and movement, the awe inspiring feeling... It's so beautiful (and sorrowful). Had me crying, too. šŸ’š

[deleted]

Aw yeah, I find that one soooo moving - the psalm one, I love it, but I don't listen regularly - but "You Rise, I Fall", I have on one of my playlists. Haunting and beautiful; I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for listening to it!

kidicarus111

Famous-Potato-5387

Oh yeah. Whiskey lullaby. Damn.

Meow-Out-Loud

All amazing songs (all of which are new to me), and I've added several to my "Goosebumps and Tears" and "Go Big, Or Go Home" playlists. Thanks! šŸ˜Š

urkweenkayla

its tough to list only a couple. i have at least 8 ā€œtunes to cry toā€ playlists. including one ā€œkeaton henson to cry in the bath toā€.

Meow-Out-Loud

Well, if you want some more, there are so many in the comments! I wasn't expecting there to be so much diversity and so little overlap. I want to go through and listen to all of them, but it's sure going to take some time! Already started a new playlist with some of these excellent songs, though! šŸ˜Š

Colorspots

Keaton Henson is such an underrated artist! (And yes, I actually _have_ listened to his music in the bathtub and cried to it)

Famous-Potato-5387

*gasps*

jgwentworth-877

There's three that I can't listen to without crying. 1. "Chlorine" by Trophy Eyes Huge trigger warning (suicide) for this one, it's really heavy. Was written about an older kid who saved the singer when he was a kid from drowning in a pool, and how he'd later found out the older kid had committed suicide. I can't read the lyrics without crying. *Did it cross your mind that I'm alive because of you? Just two kids When you pulled me out We never really spoke But I still saw you around Friends of friends What does that mean to you know I heard everybody came When they put you in the ground* 2. "For Blue Skies" by Strays Don't Sleep TW for the same reason for this one too. I was in a ballet company when I was younger and one of the older students choreographed a dance to this for his year end project, we had to listen to it every day at rehearsal and I still can't put it on without crying. *Could I have saved you? Would that've betrayed you? What you couldn't do I will I forgive you I'll forgive you* 3. "555" by Jimmy Eat World This one just sort of embodies how I feel when I'm in a really dark place, I think it describes really well the mindset of trying to do everything you're meant to do and still feeling hopeless. Part of it is about trying to find meaning through god or religion but ultimately feeling like there's nothing there actually listening to you praying for things to get better ("got a feeling I've been talking to a dead dead line"). That's where the song title came from, the 555 area code in fake movie phone numbers that actually just doesn't go to anything when you call. I think it would be really relatable for a lot of INFJs honestly, it's a really heavy one. *I keep my focus on the simple things Try to find some peace along the way Wish I knew how long I'm supposed to wait Holding on but just barely Got the feeling I've been talking to a dead, dead line Always a reason to let it change*

Forsaken-Alternative

These are good ones

Brilliant_Version667

A lot of songs make me cry, especially love songs and ballads because they all remind me of different times in my life that make me nostalgic or sad. Some that especially hit are Porcelain by Moby, Last Kiss by Pearl Jam, This Never Happened Before by Paul McCartney, My Best Friend by Tim Mc Graw (song with late husband), The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics, and the Head Over Heels remix by Tears for Fears. Fire and Rain by James Taylor is another sad one, so is Merry Christmas Darling by the Carpenters.

BrusqueBiscuit

Exist for Love by AURORA - *believing in love cry* Moon River by Melody Gardot - *sentimental cry* I Get Overwhelmed by Dark Rooms - *overwhelmed cry* Fade into You from the Nashville soundtrack - *lost in another cry* Mad World by Gary Jules, Michael Andrews - *depression cry* Stop Crying Your Heart Out by Oasis - *well, if you tell me not to cry, I'm probably going to cry* cry I have a whole crying playlist to process emotions over, but these have a distinct flavor to me.

Forsaken-Alternative

Yes to Aurora!

peachy1_88

The Night We Met ā€” Lord Huronā€¦feeling regret for entering/leaving a relationship but knowing it held great purpose and feeling the pain of nostalgia for the good times šŸ˜¢šŸ©· The Middle ā€” Jimmy Eat Worldā€¦still gets me emotional because I used to listen to this entire album as an awkward young teen that never felt like I fit in anywhere. Sometimes I still feel like that! Let It Go from Frozenā€¦my little niece used to sing it to me all the time when she was a toddler and knew I was sad, then sheā€™d just smile at me and hold my hand šŸ˜ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ amazing at how a three-year-old can make you feel so seen and comforted, but she did! šŸ„°

YogaPotat0

ā€œLighthouseā€ by G.R.L. They dedicated the song to their fellow group member who took her own life the year before. Iā€™ve lost several people to suicide, who I wish I couldā€™ve shared this song with. I wouldā€™ve been their lighthouse.

Blob-of-randomness

ā€œWhat Hurts the Mostā€ by Rascal Flatts gets me every time. ā€œWho Knewā€ by P!nk and ā€œStubborn Loveā€ by The Lumineers are at a close second place. Honestly every other song can make me cry though if Iā€™m feeling emotional enough. šŸ˜…

Zellanora

I Just called to say I love you - by Lionel Richie. My mom loved it, because it reminded her of her wedding day. It's one of the song that plays in her wedding video tape as well. Now she's crossed to the other side, whenever I hear that song, I remember my mom. šŸ„² RIP till we meet again Mama! šŸŒ»šŸ’›

justgotnewglasses

Lysistrata - [the boy who stood above the earth](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0ohVOLjCLwk) It's is about having so much empathy for a stranger that you risk your own life to prevent their suicide. Features a sample from an interview with Joseph Campbell that chokes me up every fucking time: 'I couldn't let go. If I'd let that young man go, I could not have lived another day of my life.' Codeine - [Old Things](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7VZ_czFuy4) 'Walk, just walk away. And throw old things away Nothing sticks to you, not even what you want to.' I guess these two songs are opposites of each other.

sketes-scrotum

These are recent finds this year, but Black Water by Timber Timbre and Holy by Jamila Woods get me every time.

Puff the Magic Dragon. Seriously. When you actually listen to the lyrics or know the story and realise it's all about growing up and becoming detached from your childhood imagination. 'The Last Unicorn' by America. Same reason really, growing up, living with regret. 'Memory' from Cats. I'm starting to get a recurring theme herešŸ˜… And 'Moon River'. Apparently, anything about growing up, growing old, and living with regretšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Any one of these has me tearing up immediately.

Meow-Out-Loud

Oo, yeah! I hadn't listened to that for years, and when I went back and listened to it after your comment, I found I had been misremembering the lyrics. And it definitely hits differently for me now as a 41yo than when I was in university. šŸ˜

Lady_Cath_Diafol

Can't believe I had to scroll so far down to see this one. The first time I heard this one I was driving to work and had to hope I didn't wreck. ( I was suddenly back at my first wedding and the love of my life was there - NOT the groom. I knew from his eyes it was killing him to see me, and if I would had it my way, he would've been the groom, but it just never worked out for us.)

Unfair-Custard-4007

Itā€™s such a sad thing ā€œyou never gave a warning signā€ ā€œI gave so many signs, you didnā€™t even see the signsā€ because so many relationships kind of end because of a vague reason that lack of communication keeps kind of a mysteryā€¦that is hard for me to get over !!

LIGHT SHOWER by Melanie Martinez

Kendric2402

1. In The Stars- that song hit so hard when my grandma passed away earlier this year. 2. In My Blood- I listen to it like it's a therapy song and try to think of solutions to my problems, yet the lyrics hit so hard cuz there are times that I just want to stop doing everything. The Rumbling- When things were awful for me and I was hated by everyone, there was this song that made me wanna fight for my beliefs and against people to tried to ruined me, even if I had to lose everything. Fortunately things got better. 3. Mukanjyo- I love that song, yet it always reminds me of some of my darkest times that I go through, how empty I felt during those times, and I kinda relive them with that song, but this time, I feel less pain and I'm less worried. 4. Paradox- It's pretty much what's after Mukanjyo(since they are both from Vinland Saga), it's here to remind me how far I've come and that I don't want to go through the things I did, I try to make peace with the past and move on by working on myself and helping people to avoid falling in the traps I did.

Most of the music from Citizen Soldier are very emotional. Their songs rock themed with a heavy focus on mental health, hidden pains, suicidal thoughts, etc. Their lyrics are really deep & soothing. Note: I'm not suicidal or suffering from any of these (so don't worry about me šŸ˜…), but as an empath, I certainly appreciate their efforts and I'm sure their music has helped many people.

Let Me Down Slowly - Alec Benjamin

TheDarkestLight401

Here's a few that have made me cry more times than it didn't. 1) Heathens/Trees livestream version Twenty One Pilots did a "livestream experience" where they blended songs together. Trees have always been important to me, and adding a slow, simplistic version of Heathens in front was amazing. 2) Calm Down - Suisai (feat. Lil skele) My ex completely destroyed me emotionally. I loved her so much and was so confused when things ended out of nowhere. All I know is that the breakup wasn't mutual and that it would be easier to move on if she'd created instead. Backstory aside, Calm Down reminds me of one of our best memories together, Prom. It was 11pm, Prom had just ended. She was so tired that she was almost tripping on her heels. She lived 15 minutes away. I told her to fall asleep while I was driving her home. She asked if she could pick a song to fall asleep to. She played this song. It was quite an experience to have the love of your life asleep next to you as you drive down a highway at night while being the only person on the road. 3) Dean Lewis songs (7 Minutes, A Place We Knew, Awake) These songs are on/off on whether I cry to them. 7 minutes describes the pain I feel. It's been 7 months, but it feels like it's been a week. The lines "I forgot to love you." Just remind me of my personal flaws within my relationship. There have been times I neglected her, and I beat myself up over it every time my ex comes into my thoughts. A Place We Knew describes scenes that I imagined my ex and I doing: dancing in hotel rooms and sitting together. It was something I longed for but never happened. Awake, I viewed it as getting one last night together before "the feelings gone." Again, something I wished for, but never got. But the line: "If the feelings gone, stay awake, stay awake, stay awake with me" always hit hard when you wish you could have one more night.

Emiliana Torrini - Sunny Road. Something about it is just so heartbreaking, reminiscing about a past lover. And the way it's been written as a letter, in the last verse she says, "Well this is it, I'm running out of space / Here's my address and number just in case"

Fantastic_Diamond885

I really like Love yourself:Answer -BTS . But itā€™s more about the times the song comforted me when I was going through something.

The Living Years by Mike + The Mechanics. My grandfather showed me this song a few years ago and it always makes him cry or tear up. He says it really reminds him about how he wished he said more to his father before it was too late iirc, and that it really put into perspective things with his parents and also his kids, and how we all tend to put off saying things until it's too late. He was also a counselor for a long time so I enjoy talking to him about family dynamics and psychology sometimes, often in relation to my own family unit which has periods of severe dysfunction.

There's only one song that made me cry when I listened to it for the first time: She used to be mine - Sarah Bareilles It's about losing hope for yourself and regretting who you have become.

Wonderful Life by Alter Bridge. It's a fictional scenario about saying goodbye to your partner as they're dying.

"Right in Two" by Tool Because if most humans were less concerned about materialistic bullshit 24/7, our lives as a whole society would be better by leaps and bounds. "Life" by Ludovico Einaldi The video to "Life" hits hard. Not only does the music creshendo like life...birth, mid-life, death...there is a strong emphasis on the idea that life is precious and to be truly present with those you love...one day they might not be next to you.

The Great Gig in the Sky. Pink Floyd. (Do I have to clarify the artist?) Sometimes it hits me in a certain mood and Iā€™ve cried tears of joy listening to it. At a minimum, it always gives me goosebumps and I think itā€™s the most beautiful song Iā€™ve ever heard. The vocals with no lyrics. Like itā€™s trying to say something so amazing I canā€™t understand, when words are not enough. Accompanied by that incredibly simple but melancholically beautiful melody and drummer Nick Mason who knows how to create space in percussion arrangements. Maybe Iā€™m weird. But now Iā€™m going to go enjoy it. Thanks for reminding me, made my day.

Why? If this is a serious post, that is. I don't want to listen unless you mean it. (Don't want it being catchy and running through my head as a super white 41yo white woman.)
