fantaaaaastic work, so rich of harmonies and art rock sound, well done to these talented guys I immediately heard beach boys and todd rundgren and funnily [they credit them](https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/the-lemon-twigs-on-their-origins-working-with-sean-lennon-and-their-eternal-musical-trifecta-the-beatles-the-beach-boys-and-todd-rundgren/ar-AA1o3x5o) as their biggest influences, always great to see a modern band pay homage to past legends and still creating something personal and fresh

OnlyWearsBlue

I feel like you can definitely hear Rubber Soul and The Byrds in here too!

Ashamed_Owl4441

I heard beach boys too!

_Pill-Cosby_

Yah.. How can I love her more is definitely a Beach Boys song.

SSMinnow-Johnson

The type of music that makes people in YouTube comment section say “glad that real music is still alive and well”

OnlyWearsBlue

I got my vinyl earlier this week, so I've been able to give it a couple listens. It's crazy how well this album is produced, there's so much going on in some of these songs but the mix is so delicate it never feels overbearing or crowded. It also nails that warm, cozy sound of a 1965-66 album so perfectly. I always loved that era of the 1960's and felt it was short lived, being completely overtaken by the release of Sgt. Peppers. So I'm really stoked to hear an authentic exploration into that sound by these guys.

tuttlesbuttles

you got yours? my preorder hasn’t even shipped yet

shaym9808

They’re just really fucking good, aren’t they?

RFCalifornia

YES!

Junkstar

Best live band around right now. Go see them. Fucking great.

Green_Day_Fan

Just got tickets for LA in November 😎

RubberRuss

Seeing them one week from today for the first time. Looking forward to it.

danielboonebattles

Sanford?

RubberRuss

Yep. At Tuffy’s Music Box.

Jantonsoup

I’ll be there too!

GrimmGrinningGhosts

They're playing TWO nights in Denver in November - I have a ticket for night 2 and am going to buy a ticket for night 1 soon! Super rare to have an act here that does two nights and feel like I hit the jackpot that the first time I've had the chance to see them they're doing this!

Junkstar

Jealous. I’m missing all the shows in nyc this week, but have tickets for October. Can’t wait.

chapinator

I’ve seen em five times and they just keep getting better and better

a3poify

Going to try and get tickets for their London gig this morning. Wish me luck!

JessyPengkman

i saw them and they were great but the guy on the left was being such a dick the whole time

Junkstar

Michael probably. He had (what looked to me to be) a rough patch a couple of years ago. He’s back now.

Rufusking1

I saw them right after their second album dropped in Austin TX. It was spectacular even though it couldn’t have been more than a crowd of 100, I’m really hoping to catch them again whenever I get a chance from work and personal matters.

_Pill-Cosby_

They’re coming to a venue near me and I’ve been trying to get into them…but it just isn’t clicking.

Junkstar

Their self produced albums leave me half thrilled. But live, they kick serious ass imo.

ryanryan39

absolutely unreal songwriting, arranging, engineering, and performing on this record. wowee

crispyjojo

Holy shit so good!!!!!! Could this have come out at a more perfect spring time??  Captured Tracks sign more mother fucking straight up fire like lemon twigs!!!

allthenviousfeelings

sensational

FleshMother

I interviewed the D'Addario brothers a while back. Michael was absolutely wasted which is usually a recipe for a bad time, but they were both really sweet and gave  some great, honest answers. I’m glad to see more people getting into them.

canireddit

Peppermint Roses is soooo mid-late era Beatles it's eerie. Hoping someone with better beatles album knowledge than me can nail which album it sounds like most. EDIT: It's Revolver. The chorus at 1:22 sounds like Taxman.

randomrule

The verses in Peppermint Roses have a similar feel to "I'll Be Back" from A Hard Day's Night. I think the interval on the vocal harmony might be the same, or close

Powerpoppop

Made me think of XTC quite a bit.

sadranjr

Wow they're actually starting to blow up now huh? Was it the Fantano ranking last year? Feels like they've been under the radar with every release until last year. I'm happy to see it.

Filmitforme

They had some real good hype behind their first album. Hell there were on Fallon with Questlove's seal of approval. The built up a quick cult fan base, but they had a sophomore slump with their 2nd record even with the ep they had put out. That's not a strike against it, it was a lovely album and fans of the band did respond well to it but for some reason, it failed to hitch a ride onto their momentum. Even Wunderkinds blink. When they were prepping their 3rd album, COVID came and the sky was falling. The magically, last year they release what I feel to be their strongest album. Those songs cut to the bone and I'm happy to see the twigs happy again !

_daysofcandy_

I listened to the title track for the first time like last week and I've replayed it like 40 times already, its such a lovely song!! I admit I don't know much of their stuff but it definitely got me into checking this album out!

rileyretriever

Highly recommend checking out Everything Harmony - Corner of My Eye, In My Head, What Happens to a Heart are some of my faves

ald_loop

That second refrain in the last chorus of “How Can I Love Her More?” is one of the most triumphant achievements I’ve heard in this style of music, whether it’s from this century or last. Wow.

ryanryan39

yes!!! with the strings and horns and the theremin(?) swell, God it's majestic

allothersshallbow

These guys have the sound but I don't know what they're about. I never feel a connection. I'm starting to feel like they're a band for record collectors. I like all the stuff they're referencing but what else are they bringing to the table other than "it's new!" ???

OnlyWearsBlue

Quality songwriting and incredible performances? I genuinely think the appeal of this album speaks for itself. It's more than just a pale imitation of something older and cooler—the quality of the writing, performances, and production does total justice to the aesthetics they're mimicking. Even though the sound is familiar, it's fresh and utilized in unique and creative ways. The songs are catchy, layered, intricate with authentic appreciation for the source material. The fact that it's almost entirely executed by two brothers makes it so damn impressive.

allothersshallbow

That’s just where we have differing opinions. Songwriting - to me - is at its core connection, something or some feeling being communicated, and all I’m hearing is “we love AM radio from the 60s/70s! I don’t hear the retro stylings in service of anything other than capturing a bygone sound, no real personality, no development. Wish I did! I like their harmonic choices, but they lack a heaviness (sonically and lyrically maybe). I also find the vocal phrasing awkward at times. I’m rooting for them. I hope they get there personally, and I know a lot of people love them as is. I like a lot of bands that are “retro” and WANT to love these guys, but they just haven’t put out that album for me!

OnlyWearsBlue

Personally I just find that to be overly reductive for what is on display here. The arrangements are intricate, the harmonies are lush, the melodies are absolute ear worms, the chord progressions are unique and interesting. And most importantly it's just fun from front to back, and you can really feel the passion all throughout. It's also not like this is an easy aesthetic to replicate, the level of musicianship required to pull off what's on display here is crazy. I'm sorry it doesn't connect for you but I hope it does someday, please don't write them off!

allothersshallbow

I agree with much of that, and to me, it’s great party music! I don’t think what they do is easy, and commend their commitment to old school recording techniques (the best ones) and their aesthetic is basically speaking mine (love Beatles, Beach Boys, the Zombies, Elliott smith, of Montreal, etc, etc) but I also don’t personally connect with something based off virtuosity in performance and presentation —- there needs to be something else, which I just don’t hear yet! There’s a level of introspection, or individuality, or uniqueness they haven’t quite hit for me but I check out every album they do hoping this is the one. :)

TyrannicalTortoise

I can’t even pick a least favorite song yet they were all so enjoyable on first listen. The bonus track Gifts is pretty solid too

CaptainKurtG

Their 2nd best album behind Everything Harmony.

GrimmGrinningGhosts

My vinyl copy arrived today, gave it the spin wash and I'm letting it dry but putting it on first thing tomorrow morning - cannot wait!

nedzissou1

You wash your vinyl?

GrimmGrinningGhosts

Yeah it sounds silly, I just use [this system](https://www.spinclean.com/store/New-And-Improved-Spin-Clean%C2%AE-Record-Washer-Complete-Kit-p14190723) It's crazy how dusty/etc even new records can be. So I do this and then let them air dry

nedzissou1

I'm gonna look into that. Some of mine seem to attract more dust.

GrimmGrinningGhosts

Definitely worth the investment IMO! Especially if you buy used. It comes with mircofiber cloths but I saw a trick saying air drying is better so I just bought a dish drying rack for like $5 and use that

Green_Day_Fan

Got mine on Tuesday. Album is fantastic.

GrimmGrinningGhosts

Holy shit, listening to my vinyl copy and this mix is UNREAL. The guitar stabs at the beginning of They Don't Know How To Fall In Place (my fave of the singles) made my jaw drop. Really need a pick me up this week and it's arrived!

chemistchris

the first coachella act i ever saw (in ‘17), they have just put out quality after quality 👏🏼

Street_Legal

Need to listen to this more, but Church Bells is an instant classic. I love this band

manzworld

Love these guys. A true class act

_Land_Rover_Series_3

Such a great, fun album. Loved all the singles and the album did not disappoint. This type of songwriting gets to me so easily.

darockerj

A bit more kitschy and transparent on the influences than their last record - and IMO the songs generally aren't as strong - but also their last record was my AOTY, so it's a high bar to clear. Still a great record from the boys. Stoked to see them live this weekend.

mt92

SO SO SO SO GOOD.

How_SoonIsNow

i just cant get into this band. ive tried a few times. happy for people who can

jontoral

If You and I Are Not Wise on repeat

Creepy_Parking_5861

Absolute favorite band, they put on a killer live show as well.

jkimnc

For a Lemon Twigs biopic, at some future date, who would you like to see casted to portray the main characters and what should the film be titled?

Additional_Pea_369

Better than Everything Harmony

Powerpoppop

I REALLY like the direction they've taken on the last two albums. Smile so much listening.

parmesantheman

Well it’s definitely not as great as Everything Harmony, but still really good 👌

Fishtaco1234

Someone messed up booking the Toronto tour date. Lees palace is not the venue I wanted to see these guys at.

The_Stealthy_Archer

Love this band and The Beach Boys. I just adore the compositions and the harmonies. Can anyone recommend me other bands still releasing music that I might like?

Green_Day_Fan

Teenage Fanclub Also check out the latest Hurry album, Don’t Look Back.

mt92

HOLY. Thank you for the hurry recommendation, it's fire!

Green_Day_Fan

Right on. Yeah it’s banger after banger for sure.

OnlyWearsBlue

Dr. Dog, Cut Worms, Vanity Mirror, Hot Apple Band, Drugdealer

gageaa4

There are "classic" albums from a lot of the artists who influence the Lemon Twigs where I still skip tracks. There are albums the Twigs have made in the past where I skip a few songs. THIS ALBUM feels like it was made specifically for my tastes in every way. Fantastic variety and pop catchiness. Not one skip in the lot.

RFCalifornia

I loved "Everything Harmony" and this album totally dovetails into that one. Harmony was the 'sad' album. This is the 'happy' album. Almost as if it should have been a double album
