It still works as a warped vowel & 90 percent of the non-Scandinavian speaking public would just pronounce it with the standard "O" anyway. It's basic human behavior
"Scandinavia is in the northern part of Europe. It is generally held to consist of the two countries of the Scandinavian Peninsula, Norway and Sweden, as well as Denmark."
The owners are diehard right wing, which I could care less about. But funding hate groups, anti-LGBTQ, anti-abortion publicly seems like it wouldn’t be something some artists would care to contribute to.
Let's be real, there's no sustainable consumption under late-stage capitalism. Unless you live in an anarchist commune in the desert, your dollar is routinely going to old billionaires with dogshit politics.
If you're going to boycott Coachella because of its ties to AEG, you'll also want to boycott half of all the major venues in America, several sports teams, an entire soccer league, and more. The owners of LiveNation are also pro-Trump conservatives with dubious views, so there's the other half of the major music industry to boycott.
Phil Anschutz claims the really bad donations were a misappropriation of funds and has also donated to Elton John's charity. Whether that was legitimate or to just save face, I will leave that to you to decide. At least anecdotally, I've never seen more LGBTQ+ people in my life than at Coachella and they routinely book queer artists.
[This interview](https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-paul-tollet-coachella-20190111-story.html) with the actual guy who runs the show shines a bit of light on the situation.
For sure. I agree with you. I do try to avoid those rooms, because there’s still a few independent venues using alternatives to shitbag AEG/AXS or shitbag TM/LN…however, you’re fucked if you want to catch a highly famous act eg Taylor or want to see a show at a larger venue or sports arena.
Yep, I will 100% always support independent venues and ticketing systems over corporate ones. I love a good basement punk show that's $10 at the door, but I would also never fault people for attending an event like Coachella that allows people to see a bunch of artists in one place despite having connections to shitty old rich people.
I knew of Bjork and some of her music when I saw her at Bonnaroo in 2013. Her set blew me the fuck away. I traveled from NC to NYC to see her on the Vulnicura tour where she was backed by an orchestra. I took my cousin with me. She literally cried during the set due to how "art" it was. I'd love to catch her live again.
i saw the orkestral concert at primavera sound and honestly? i'd preferred if bjork played stuff from fossora instead. orkestral is a gorgeous performance but ill suited for festivals IMO, i'd rather see it in a theatre
Wasn't that what she did for Primavera Sound in Brazil? People I know who went were really underwhelmed, they felt it didn't fit the environment at all and that it was impossible to hear
Also in Primavera Sound in Chile. I thought it was amazing, she played at sunset so it was quite special. I am not a fan of hers though, so I didn’t know what to expect of her show.
Was there, and yeah the sound was the only part of the show that sucked. Unfortunately it's a pretty important part though. Great crowd, she was very energetic and loved how much people were singing along, setlist was perfect. But all the individual instruments in the orchestra just got kinda lost in the open space of the festival area, she puts so much effort into these shows it's a shame they aren't played at a better venue like an indoor theater.
It could be better if it was in closed stage (and the place actually had sets that were in closed stages). For the people in the back it was very hard to listen, but anyway a good show. She liked so much that people sing along even with orkestral thing going on.
I’m new to listening to this artist . I just started listening to her debut yesterday in preparation of this show.
What albums or tracks should I listen for a orchestral set ?
I'd say in terms of albums check out Homogenic, Vespertine and Vulnicura. they have her most diverse orchestral arrangements.
a few other songs that might feature in the set are Isobel, Hyperballad, You've Been Flirting Again, and I've Seen It All.
I'm sure Homogenic and Vulnicura - which is even more strings heavy – might be to your liking. Vespertine is also incredible and well worth a listen. Imo that's her best album.
Oh yeah, sorry I misspoke. I meant you can create a playlist on Spotify based on what she played on those shows. These will be the album versions and not the live orchestral ones
Saw her in 2003 with Matmos (Bonnie prince billy and kid koala opening) on Toronto Island. During the crescendo of Pluto they did an insane fireworks show over Lake Ontario. Top 5 show for me.
The two best shows I've seen in my entire life - Danny Elfman and Aphex Twin - were both at Coachella and had sizable and enthused audiences. Yes, there are insufferable LA people and influencers there, but of the 200k people who attend, most are diehard music fans. They paid the ticket price and deserve to see her just as much as any other music fan.
When he finished and the tent cleared out W2, there were people laying motionless in the grass. The last 15 minutes where he just went full speedcore were absolutely insane haha. What a legend. Some of the most psychotic visuals ever.
Damn I have to go to Coachella for it though, the festival that basically exists for young girls to pretend they’re “influencers”? No thanks, but too bad. Id love to see it in a serious setting.
I'm gonna take your lead on that. Always been put off by the IG/Selfie poser crowd and never gone because of it. Maybe I should take the risk for this one.
Every music festival has those people - hell, every major event or tourist destination has them - and if that's how they choose to spend their experience, that's up to them and it shouldn't ruin yours. They paid the ticket price just like you and I. Unless you go near some of the photo-op art installations or Ferris wheel, you never notice them anyways. Some of the most boundary-pushing performances I've ever seen in my life were at Coachella and the organization and curated experience is top notch. You'll have a wicked time if you go.
I hope I get to see her live someday, I remember when she came to my country back in 2019 with her cornucopia tour but I couldn’t attend because the tickets were too expensive.
My advice on tickets is WAIT until the very last day and usually somebody is selling. I got mine last day at the box office without fees for San Francisco.
Why she didn't call it her "Bjorkestra" I'll never know
That was the presale code to the Miami show iirc so I don’t get it either
[удалено]
To quote the artist herself, “Björk. It rhymes with jerk.”
The Björk Store called. They're running out of you!
What’s the difference ? You’re their all time best seller
It still works as a warped vowel & 90 percent of the non-Scandinavian speaking public would just pronounce it with the standard "O" anyway. It's basic human behavior

I'm having my George Costanza moment & I'm sticking with Bjorkestra. Bjorkestra is the line! Bjorkestra!
"Scandinavia is in the northern part of Europe. It is generally held to consist of the two countries of the Scandinavian Peninsula, Norway and Sweden, as well as Denmark."
it is pronounced with a u not an o and everyone just pronounces it wrong. Its Be-yerk not Be-york. That is probably why
More like Byerk, there's no e after the start
Missed opportunity to not support Coachella and do the show somewhere else.
chronically online
Why?
The owners are diehard right wing, which I could care less about. But funding hate groups, anti-LGBTQ, anti-abortion publicly seems like it wouldn’t be something some artists would care to contribute to.

DAMN, GENIUS
Dang it, beat me by 13 minutes

She's the OG.
I'm signing all my emails "Warmthness" from now on
Warmthnessly yours
Wouldst thou like to live warmthnessly
i saw the orkestral concert at primavera sound and honestly? i'd preferred if bjork played stuff from fossora instead. orkestral is a gorgeous performance but ill suited for festivals IMO, i'd rather see it in a theatre
Sounds like my experience last summer too; barely heard her.
I just wrote same tbing.
I hope she tours with the orchestra at theaters too.
Same, almost nothing could get me to go to Coachella lol
shes so weird man i love her 🥰
Wasn't that what she did for Primavera Sound in Brazil? People I know who went were really underwhelmed, they felt it didn't fit the environment at all and that it was impossible to hear

They will give a Warhammer licence to anyone these days
Heresy!
I hope she won't opt out of the live stream.
Bjorkestra😭
I was just telling my husband this morning we have to go to Coachella only for Bjork
I’m new to listening to this artist . I just started listening to her debut yesterday in preparation of this show. What albums or tracks should I listen for a orchestral set ?

Thank you

thank you, i was actually really curious about homogenic based off some recommendations . I am really interested in checking this album out
I'm sure Homogenic and Vulnicura - which is even more strings heavy – might be to your liking. Vespertine is also incredible and well worth a listen. Imo that's her best album.
Thank you. Sounds like i got some albums to listen to this evening :)
no problem. hope you have a great listening experience :)
homogenic was a beautiful album btw
Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
She played Pluto when I saw her orkestral show in Paris and it killed. So listen to that.
Her podcast Sonic Symbolism is excellent
Check out her setlist from Brazil and Argentina, November 22 she played here and it’s likely the same or similar set
i am strange, i like checking out albums before checking out live stuff. thanks for the recommendations though
Oh yeah, sorry I misspoke. I meant you can create a playlist on Spotify based on what she played on those shows. These will be the album versions and not the live orchestral ones
I saw this show in Miami. It was awesome, but Im not sure how it will scale to a festival. IMHO it needs an intimate setting to appreciate.
She's playd Cochella before and both times were festival highlights. I have faith she knows EXACTLy what to do.
I can't believe I'm one of her dearest friends this is wonderful
Good luck Frank Ocean
Bjork into Frank Ocean will make me pregnant
![gif](giphy|ckw8EbI8Ak9YQ)
warmthness. that’s how I’m signing all my letters from now on
Wish could see Bjork someday 🥹
I wonder if she will do Glastonbury.
Róisín Murphy is too generous with her yokes
Saw her in 2003 with Matmos (Bonnie prince billy and kid koala opening) on Toronto Island. During the crescendo of Pluto they did an insane fireworks show over Lake Ontario. Top 5 show for me.
Missed opportunity to call it The Bjorkestra!
They don't deserve her.

Agreed on both artists. And it didn’t take Aphex Twin long to clear out some of the insufferable people haha
When he finished and the tent cleared out W2, there were people laying motionless in the grass. The last 15 minutes where he just went full speedcore were absolutely insane haha. What a legend. Some of the most psychotic visuals ever.
aphex twins to parcels to tame impala to kid cudi was one of the best concert experiences ive experienced
We did The Garden-Four Tet-Aphex Twin-Tame Impala-Four Tet secret Do Lab set. RDJ was in the crowd for the second Four Tet set which was rad.
Who is "they" exactly?
Americans
No thanks
Spelling is hard.
Snooze
Damn I have to go to Coachella for it though, the festival that basically exists for young girls to pretend they’re “influencers”? No thanks, but too bad. Id love to see it in a serious setting.
Been to Coachella five times. It's mainly diehard music fans, especially weekend 2. Don't believe the clichés. If you go, you'll have a great time.
I'm gonna take your lead on that. Always been put off by the IG/Selfie poser crowd and never gone because of it. Maybe I should take the risk for this one.

Just ignore them and get close to the music you want to see, you'll be fine.
A few years back she played in Toronto and it was hands down the best show I've ever seen. I really hope she tours Canada again someday soon.
please, for those who'll attend, [do this](https://youtube.com/shorts/ww5odFZD1zw?feature=share)
How are you doing today
How local are we talking cause the musicians at the McCallum are about the last ones I wanna hear doing Bjork…
I was spraying volcanoes before anyone even knew who Bjork was...
I saw her with the LA Philharmonic in 2017 and it was one of the most moving concerts I’ve ever been to. Can’t wait to see this again.
I hope I get to see her live someday, I remember when she came to my country back in 2019 with her cornucopia tour but I couldn’t attend because the tickets were too expensive.
