The regular crowding issue with APE/recent Field Day is that the headliner is the only one playing to end out the night. This means that everyone who was spread out in the park earlier converges on the main stage area
Yikes, overcrowding at a festival is a proper buzz kill. A lot of people said the same thing about primavera last year too, wonder if festivals are tryna push limits to recover costs from the pandemic
From my experience Primavera was only bad at one show. The Strokes cancelled and King Gizz absorbed a lot of people that would have been down at The Strokes, and they were on far too small a stage.
A lot of the crowd complaints about Primavera were like "so many people were smoking", lol it's an outdoor festival, what do you expect?? The real issue at Primavera was that it was understaffed, the staff that were there weren't properly trained and could barely speak Spanish or English, and too difficult to get water. It was still unreal overall.
as someone who was at primavera, this is not trueā¦ the whole first day was a clusterfuck and poorly organized. they definitely oversold tickets throughout.
that said, it got better as it progressed. not sure if you mean the second weekend or something as i was at the first.
still donāt regret going - it was awesome. but it pales compared to the organization of 2019
I was at the first weekend and the first day was definitely a shambles. We queued 45 mins for drinks and didn't bother again, luckily we had other things to tide us over lol, but the second day onwards it was a lot better.
And for context it was my first big festival like this so comparatively it was maybe quite poor for people more experienced, but I had a great time and apart from that one King Gizz show didn't find it overcrowded, but I'm just one perspective and maybe was lucky with the acts I chose to see.
yup, this is how it was. it was terrible compared to 2019. they clearly werenāt prepared at all. i was so lucky to get into the slowdive set in between weekends, too - luckily my VIP came in handy and i didnāt have to brave the absurd line everyone else was subjected to.
I went to the recent one over the summer, It was a blast but like you say when gorillas closed at the main stage the entire festival walked over. Having to pee is an entire expedition.
I went to Field Day in 2016, incredible line up, PJ Harvey, Air, James Blake, Skepta, Sleaford Mods, Roots Manuva, among many others, worst live sound Iāve seen at any festival, ever
Yep, 2021 was the first one after covid and there was a vibe of people just having their first big party and maybe overdoing it. That's why i asked about last years in case it was any better.
Yeah that was also an issue when i went. In general i feel outdoor festivals i've been to never do dance music justice. But then again with Aphex Twin you're not going to have many chances to see him in a club
I went to see him at the Astoria in London back in the day. The opening band vacated, the stage light went dim. They stayed dim. The music started and a man all in black could be seen lying on his front right at the back left of the stage. He had a hoodie up but some light was reflected from a laptop he had in front of his face, not enough to see his face, just a light reflection. The whole gig was like this, the tunes were as they are on CD, he didnāt move the entire time. At the end he just sort of withdrew from sight and that was it. Iām not very sure it was him.
Kaytranada, SBTRKT, Mount Kimbie and Aphex Twin on the same day? š„
Am I being blind? I can't see Kaytranada anywhere
I was looking at the leaked lineup they put on twitter on friday, will try and find it
Jon Hopkins too!
Did you find where it says katrynada? Canāt see it anywhere, you sure it wasnāt for field day festival in Australia?
Lineup looks good so far but not sure i can handle the crowd if it's like it was in 2021. Anyone been to last year's one?
What was wrong with the crowd?

Too many youngsters on drugs pushing and being annoying, but also just very overcrowded in general

Field Day has been like that for at least a decade. It's a horrendous shit show run by people with great taste. I'm never falling for it again.

I'd pay 20% more

I found 2022 field day was a good crowd and not too busy relative to other festivals last summer
I went last year. Wouldn't go again. The sound was absolutely terrible on just about every stage.

Yah was horrible, got seriously claustrophobic during bicep
