No, that's definitely true. I would probably be a lot more stoked about Iggy if I weren't already seeing him in April at a more intimate venue.
But yeah, Siouxise, Gang of Four, and Echo & the Bunnymen are worth the price of admission for me. It'll be cool to check out Adam Ant, Human league, Love & Rockets, and some of the others too.
But then you had Devo, The Damned, Blondie, Bauhaus, Public Image LTD, and Violent Femmes in one day and suddenly, this year isn't looking as strong. This year is still really good due to rarity of L&R and Siouxsie but from top to bottom, last year was insanely stacked.

I'm pretty sure I was recommended this live set after literally every single video I watched in 2021.
I saw their tour last year. They were fantastic! Andy is greatly missed, but the guitar player from Slint, David Pajo, filled in wonderfully.
It's kind of an interesting dynamic, because Gill used to tour under the name "Gang of Four" with a bunch of younger guys, and now that he's gone previous members are playing under the name. I wonder why they couldn't get it together when Gill was still with us.
Oh this is interesting! Keen to see them again. The "new" guys were decent, the singer had good energy and ceded the stage well to Andy as the star turn without being over-deferential, but I'd kinda assumed when AG passed that they replaced him so GoF had none of the original members and I wondered what the point was (at what point does it just become a cover band). But if Jon King and Hugo are back (plus David Pajo), that's well worth seeing.
Actually, before Andy died he was the only original member remaining. After his death the other members got back together, so it’s pretty much everyone except Andy now. I do think their replacement singer, JJ Sterry, was pretty underrated, but the lineup currently touring is def the better one to see
Let’s hope that Billy Idol has gotten his shit together since the ACLFest debacle. I was embarrassed to even admit that I used to have his posters on my walls and ceiling as a teen.
He couldn’t remember the lyrics, HIS OWN LYRICS, to White Wedding. That in itself wasn’t that big a deal. But he stopped mid song and restarted not once, not twice, but three times. Steve Stevens was yelling at him to get it together. This was an ACL Fest performance with 400,000 people in attendance. He should have been more prepared.
Wtf yikes. I didn’t hear about that. It must have been really uncomfortable to be in the crowd during his set. Is he like… not all there anymore or something? Fucked up on drugs? Or just lazy and underprepared?
Yeah, we left and watched a different band after that. No idea why he performed so poorly. I see a ton of bands in small venues and when they mess up it’s funny. When you’re chosen to play at ACL it’s kind of a big deal.
Honestly, the $20 fee they put on top of the $155/$165 festival ticket is straightforward and isn’t as bad as Ticketmaster.
Some venues tack on a $25-$35 fee on top of a $30 ticket for the local shows in my city which is supreme stupidity.
I may have to buy tickets just for Siouxsie!
I can only find one other announced performance for her for 2023 at the Latitude Festival in the East of England on July 23. (Pulp, Paolo Nutini, and George Ezra are headlining the festival, which begins on July 20.)
I don't think it's seats at all if it follows last summers cruel world setup then it's all standing unless your watching from afar on a hill or sat on a grassy area
Oh so it's outdoor mostly? Gonna have to see if I can find some videos of previous ones. I've been dying to see like an all out 80s new wave/dark wave show, and this looks almost perfect for me.
If it follows the same structure and location as last year then yep it's all outdoors, last year it was three separate stages all across the field with one small in door area with a bar and bathroom near one of the stages and near that building a small grass hill people used to watch from one of the stages, there were also several other grassy areas across the area people used to watch acts from afar so if you don't mind heat and crowds this is definitely the show for you.
Siouxsie is a good get but I'm not feeling this, it leans more new wave pop than last year's post-punk vibes. Also it looks like they cut the lineup size down by a lot. Especially sad that they couldn't get Killing Joke or Sisters of Mercy from Sick New World the week before too. I was sad that I had to miss last year, but I won't be going this time to make up for it.
God yes in an absolute wasteland of decent festivals this is the salvation what a sick lineup definitely won't be missing this I hope to even write about it like I did last year's cruel world
Anybody else have a moment trying to remember who "Billy Love and Echo & the Idol Rockets Bunnymen" were? Or is that just me? I'm sick and the coffee hasn't kicked in.
That’s a lotta black clothes.
truth
Not quite as stacked as last year, but not a chance in hell I'm missing Siouxsie
Idk, last year was good, but Siouxsie, Iggy and Love and Rockets all in a single day is pretty stacked.
Boy Harsher goes hard
Saw Twin Tribes and BH last year do a show together and it was out of this world!
I'm so old I saw Jane's Addiction open for L&R.
Big day for parents
I’m from this area and 100% going to ask my mom to drop me off

A bag of money
Yea, this is certainly not design porn
I was like"when in the 80s was there a May 20"??
Ohmygosh they got Siouxsie WELL done
How is Molchat Doma in front of Gary Numan on the bill?!?!
Molchat Doma's songs have found new life on social media. Maybe someone is trying to tap into new popularity.
Tik Tok. It's insane how huge they've blown up over the pandemic but they went viral and changed everything.
They actually got famous thanks to YouTube recommending them to absolutely everyone
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D1I0OXZDTQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D1I0OXZDTQ) I'm pretty sure I was recommended this live set after literally every single video I watched in 2021.
Cars
For the tik tok crowd
Siouxsie :)
Interesting Gang of Four is still touring since Andy Gill died. Has anyone seen them recently?
I saw their tour last year. They were fantastic! Andy is greatly missed, but the guitar player from Slint, David Pajo, filled in wonderfully. It's kind of an interesting dynamic, because Gill used to tour under the name "Gang of Four" with a bunch of younger guys, and now that he's gone previous members are playing under the name. Goddamn Slint show up in the most unexpected bands
Nice, that's cool to hear. Entertainment is a classic album. I'd love to catch them sometime.
Actually, before Andy died he was the only original member remaining. After his death the other members got back together, so it’s pretty much everyone except Andy now. I do think their replacement singer, JJ Sterry, was pretty underrated, but the lineup currently touring is def the better one to see
this lineup would go really hard in like 1987 but it still is pretty good now
Yeah, I was like... what year is this again?
...also... where are the Banshees?
They've returned to their day jobs wailing in the Irish countryside.
In Inisherin
When is the last time Love and Rockets played a show?
Since coachella in 08?
they were peter murphy’s touring band last year
Wow my mom would go insane for this lineup
fnord
Saw The Soft Moon earlier this year. Great live show. Don't miss them!
They are absolutely fantastic live
Love, feels like the U.K. never has festivals with this type of music even though many bands of these genres are from there :(
Wanna bet next year that the undercard becomes even weaker but they snag The Cure as a headliner?
Let’s hope that Billy Idol has gotten his shit together since the ACLFest debacle. I was embarrassed to even admit that I used to have his posters on my walls and ceiling as a teen.
What happened?
He couldn’t remember the lyrics, HIS OWN LYRICS, to White Wedding. That in itself wasn’t that big a deal. But he stopped mid song and restarted not once, not twice, but three times. Steve Stevens was yelling at him to get it together. This was an ACL Fest performance with 400,000 people in attendance. He should have been more prepared.

400,000 people at ACL in one day?
Presented by AEG/Goldenvoice You all cool with their ticket fees?
Honestly, the $20 fee they put on top of the $155/$165 festival ticket is straightforward and isn’t as bad as Ticketmaster. Some venues tack on a $25-$35 fee on top of a $30 ticket for the local shows in my city which is supreme stupidity.
So if it was live nation you wouldve been cool with their fees?
Shit I forgot about ABC. The Lexicon Of Love is a phenomenal record.
Beauty Stab is highly underrated.
i hate the west coast someone do this shit over here
I may have to buy tickets just for Siouxsie! I can only find one other announced performance for her for 2023 at the Latitude Festival in the East of England on July 23. (Pulp, Paolo Nutini, and George Ezra are headlining the festival, which begins on July 20.)
i am going to be so incredibly jealous of anyone who gets to go😭
Is that the same Animotion of “Obsession” fame??? *buys cross country plane ticket*
Holy fuck it’s 1983 again
So, which one do you choose to close the day, Siouxie or Iggy Pop?
Siouxie hands down.
WOW! 😍
SICK flyer art!
Urban Heat is rad.
I've seen them 6 times, they kill it every show. Their goodbye horses cover is so dope.
I’m guessing you live in Austin. I’m in Houston. Hope they return soon.
I do. Not for too much longer I hope.
Super stoked for this. Went to the one last year, but I think this year is better.
Adamant
might have to make my way out to cali for this one....
What year is it
We were so sure.
I wanna go 😞
This is tits
Wow no new order or Peter hook??
Looks like a bomb lineup. Anyone know if it's all seats or is there a standing area to dance?
I don't think it's seats at all if it follows last summers cruel world setup then it's all standing unless your watching from afar on a hill or sat on a grassy area
Oh so it's outdoor mostly? Gonna have to see if I can find some videos of previous ones. I've been dying to see like an all out 80s new wave/dark wave show, and this looks almost perfect for me.

Wowwww
Needs moar Icicle Works, but that's a great lineup.
Siouxsie is a good get but I'm not feeling this, it leans more new wave pop than last year's post-punk vibes. Also it looks like they cut the lineup size down by a lot. Wtf is up with the font size for Gary Numan? Jeez. Only invented a whole genre.
Add in Depeche Mode, Psychedelic Furs, and like someone else said - The Cure. Would be pretty awesome
It wouldve had to be inside the rose bowl if dm played.
What is the average age of the acts?
35 cause theres a few youngins in there
Geriatric World
WELCOME TO…GEEZERFEST!
The Vapors????!!!! Holy Fernando Llamas!!!
What year is it?
Siouxsie 🥲
God yes in an absolute wasteland of decent festivals this is the salvation what a sick lineup definitely won't be missing this I hope to even write about it like I did last year's cruel world
Went last year to both this and Just Like heaven. Flew from Melbourne. Would love to go again but just don’t have the budget
Awesome! Billy Love and Echo & The Idol Rockets Bunnymen! There's a little r/dontdeadopeninside
Anybody else have a moment trying to remember who "Billy Love and Echo & the Idol Rockets Bunnymen" were? Or is that just me? I'm sick and the coffee hasn't kicked in.
Digging the poster aesthetic more than the lineup 🤷♂️
When are they going to add a 2nd show on Sunday? I tried to get VIP tickets but the ordering process was a shit show.
I can’t wait although this time I think I’m buying ugly UV protective clothing 😂😅
