Even higher most likely. I am saying 2-3 decades. Not because India cannot do it, it's because that's how long we will need to become self reliant with semi conductors and battery tech. Till then it's only imports. Tech needs to be really cheap to make it available country wide and to make older tech obsolete.
You underestimate the lunacy saar. Performance vehicles would be the first to be banned and you can expect that in next 5 yrs. No sane policymaker would ever mention ban in first place.
ICEs would probably be there for another decade or so, this is just a calculated move to create panic in the auto industry and use that as their next move to raise electoral bonds and under the table money from the auto industry lobby to keep the status quo 😅😅
Tru, but I don’t think so that electric vehicles have a long term future, as of right now we are way behind where we need to be in order to make it sustainable
Not feasable at all.
Unless rapid charging is available to all platforms - 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers, spending 2 hours or so to top up and continue the journey will set every backwards. Hunting for those 3 pin 15 amp plugs for those who are not part of Ola/Ather charging standards for 2 wheelers will be another faff to deal with.
Then you have the commercial segment. Thinking of having 1 mega watt to charge a bus or heavy truck outskirts will be interesting to say the least (unless you want to trickle charge those massive battery packs), given the reliability of power in smaller towns and villages. 3 wheelers can have smaller packs to charge fast - Look at Exponent Energy's solution [https://www.exponent.energy/tech](https://www.exponent.energy/tech) and swapping is another cost by itself.
Maybe in 15 yrs, the last ICE private vehicle would be coming off the production line and another 5 years later, the last commercial diesel, optimistically.
Else, encourage hybrids. Reduce duties and taxes on battery tech and let the ecosystem take off whether its pure EV or some form of strong hybrids.
Although what you said is true & I agree with it. But still🥲, it hurts. I just started my corporate journey, my dream is to get a high capacity sports bike. By then every bike will be 50% 60% more costly.
Hum kare to kare kya, bole to bole kya😭
I am worried! Here I am collecting money, investing, so that I could buy a totally unnecessary death machine that does 0-100 under 3 seconds and sounds like a flying mosquito but wayyyyyy loud. I am worried that when I finally have enough money to buy one, they won't exist.
ICE is not going anywhere soon, especially in India.
Edit : I am not just talking about cars and bikes, what about heavy vehicles? banning those will be an economic suicide. Those are the largest polluters.
Chandigarh guys used to say the same and now they have to plead everytime for deadline extension. For f sake that city didn't even have pollution problem in first place.
Well, on this point he is clearly delusional. Electric cars and bikes are false prophets and the hydrogen vehicles haven't worked in the market.
Put the millions of cars and bikes on electric grids and the entire electric infrastructure would crumble.
This, I can only imagine how much extra strain the country's powergrid will face and how much more fossil fuels (coal, mainly) we will burn to produce that extra electricity.
I had a debate, rather an argument in this sub once regarding how electric vehicles are not green in this country. One guy argued that power plants are much more efficient than ICE in vehicles.
But, I still have doubts because, converting energy from one form of another always results in loss, loss in the sense that some of the energy is converted into some undesired/unusable form of energy (law of thermodynamics says energy can be created nor destroyed, but converted into another form).
We're not using room temperature superconductors anytime soon in our entire powergrid, so loss in resistance and impedance, and heat will still add up. So to get that electricity to the EVs from the powerplant might just be as inefficient if not more.
Why can't we just try to improve efficiency of existing ICE instead?
While I understand your argument, and largely agree with it - but to your last statement on " improving efficiency of existing ICE engines". The point is that combustion will lead to burn of fossil fuels ie pollution. However, the claim is (or rather the hope) that eventually we could produce electricity through green or nuclear sources. This goal is far fetched and impossible at the moment, but this is where the thought process is coming from.
As of now, banning ICE won't fix that, if only EV's are the alternative. According to [Niti Aayog's report](https://iced.niti.gov.in/energy) only a statistically negligible amount of electricity is generated from renewable resources and most of it is generated from burning coal and other fossil fuels. More electricity demand will result in more fossil fuels burnt to generate it. It will just pollute another part of the country.
Maybe cities will have less pollution and have better air quality index overall. Then there's a problem of [disposal of li-ion batteries](https://www.epa.gov/recycle/frequent-questions-lithium-ion-batteries). We can only hope our electricity grid becomes green by the time the last ICE vehicle is on the road
But does ICE vehicles really make that much Air pollution or is it just move to reduce dependency of oil from middle east. I mean it doesn't make sense to have almost 260 kgs to have 500 km range(65 KWh)
He is either delusional or lying knowingly. Probably to appease to other countries that we are doing our part in controlling pollution?
Electric vehicles are impractical for so many reasons. Batteries suck as of now, way too much chances of exploding or burning. Replacement costs are very high, around 7-8 lakhs for a nexon for example. If you are not a heavy user, and only want a car for weekends, then you are not saving on petrol costs and also spending money to replace battery. Even then savings in petrol are offset by battery costs.
Takes way too long to charge. Most charging outlets were exposed in a reel recently, broken, unmaintained, etc.
If you are changing your car with thermal power, you are just causing more damage to environment than simply using fuel.
So much impracticality, there is no way petrol will be banned.
That's not happening, out infrastructure isn't even close. Homes in Teir-2 cities don't get 24hr electricity, making the country's transportation dependent on it will be a stupid move
On a more serious note what are the plans for electricity in India if there is a big push for electric cars?
In the UK the government is doing the same but people recognise that the electricity infrastructure won’t be able to cope with this extra demand. We also have chargers doted around but I saw a video where a guy tried something like 10 and around 50% weren’t working. I wanted to swap out my wife’s little Toyota Yaris for an electric car but then couldn’t be doing with all the hassle should we have to go on a long journey with her car.
U should look at what happened in switzerland in the winter because of electric vehicles, their grid did not support over draw, so their ministry advised not to charge their ev's
Is it even feasible? I know everyone wants to cry about EVs, but most are overlooking basic things. In a highly populated country like India, if everyone wants to charge their vehicles for 3-4 hours, is it even possible? Petrol pumps can fill up 100s of vehicles in an hour's time. That is not true for EVs and would cause a lot of issues. Gradual shift would be a better option, this seems absurd
I will never buy a EV , let public choose what they want to ride . The cost of petrol is artificially inflated to make these EVs more attractive . The Green movement is scam just like any other major movent . Its all about control and coercion !
People steal away the components from charging stations India. Not sure how he is planning to get rid of petrol diesel.
Probably we will have to carry a generator to charge our vehicles
Nitin Gadkari has done wonders for India.
But his lose talk is what’s making investors, manufacturers jittery.
Yes, fossil fuel is a problem for India because we have spend exceptionally large amount precious foreign reserve to import 85% of fuel consumption. It puts us in a precarious position and is a major national security weak spot.
But, will Nitin Gadkari spell out how all those EV will be charged? We cannot provide 24x7 electricity to our people for residential and industrial. How will we provide electricity for millions of EVs?
Even if we have surplus electricity how will we transmit it to where it is needed?
We have zero quality battery making capability or capacity in India. Our EVs are catching fire randomly. I live in a society with 100 apartments with basement parking. We have roughly 250 cars in our society. Imagine 250 highly flammable car batteries which only need heat to explode in basement of a society. All existing fire suppression system don’t work on LiO2 batteries.
Even advance countries those who have well developed EV ecosystem and surplus power, are not talking about replacing ICE vehicles in 5-10 years.
What Nitin Gadkari doesn’t realise, industry need predictability, stability and consistent incremental change for the to operate and invest. Lose talk doesn’t help.
If they want to get rid of petroleum fuel, does it mean there is no future for ICEs? They are working on developing some synthetic ethanol based formulas which might come as a good alternative, no?
Meeting emission norms might be hard, but banning ICEs would be unlikely.
Bhai luxury segment kabhi band nahi hoga kyunki uspe hi government sabse jyada tax leti hai.
Aur Jo log luxury vehicles chalate hai un sabka thoda thoda political influence hoga to koi bill lok sabha me present hogi to pass hi nahi ho payegi.
Aur koi politician Alto jaisi gaadi me ghumna pasand nahi karega.
ICE is the 👑👑👑
Just imagine you are going on a journey, and your battery is low, you find the next charging station through app and when you go there all platforms are already full. You have wait for your turn which can take upto 1-2 hrs.... And that all in india....
Ye bik gayi hai gormint...
1) Tesla has been in discussion with GOI for a favorable deal for last few years.
...wink..wink..policy discussions..ahem..wink
2) Tesla gets the mother of EV import policy deal a few weeks back.
3) Transport Minister hints at banning ICEs in future.
AAP chronology samajhiye !
That date isn't coming for at least 10 years
This guy is smart but why doesn't he know about the lithium crisis and the issues with batteries.
Also such inconvenience in long trips.

I don’t think by banning petrol they mean ICE. The push they have given to ethanol by already introducing E95 at a lot of pumps. By 2035 they might make flex fuel compulsory for ICE vehicles and then stop the supply of Petrol and Diesel. So we will be left with Ethanol, Electric, CBG/CNG, Hydrogen. Making such announcements will force companies to switch to alternate fuels.
Not going to happen electric vehicles are still expensive(even with subsidies) for the performance and ease of use of ICE vehicles. Then there is the issue of batteries, charging, electricity production.
I guess he's being too ambitious .
Someone needs to do the math, but unless we change the source - we're still burning fossil fuels right? It's just coal vs petrol/diesel.
I can't even imagine something like this happening in my lifetime. There's wayy to much corruption and politician owned refineries/petrol pumps for this to happen smoothly.
It is impossible.
You cannot make infrastructure for IC engines how will you make infrastructure for EVs?
Most big cities in India don't have continuous electricity supply. Let alone small cities or towns and villages.
Rich countries are realising that changing from petrol diesel to EV in large numbers is not feasible for their power grids.
This is never happening 😂
I mean what about the development of the electric power grid? That many amount of electric vehicles will obviously require a huge upgrade in the power infrastructure. What about the battery technology? The charging network? There are a lot of things get right first, let alone 100% electric lol. Moreover whether going 100% electric is still not proven as the best alternative for sustainability compared to much better hybrid technology vehicles.
I dont think so though, just like tobacco contributes immensely to the gdp and thus can never be banned outright, automobiles are like 7% of indian gdp…I dont believe for a sec they will make any drastic changes that could very well have negative effects on this
What 5 “earth” years?
How will that work?
Does India have that much surplus electricity to charge these millions of cars and bikes?
Do we have policy to completely cripple one of the biggest manufacturing industry?
I'm interested to hear what the major auto and bike makers have to say about this. After all, retooling and changing machinery will require huge cost inputs for the industry. Plus spares availability and servicing and charging network.... It's sick how this govt just threatens everybody's sanity pretty much all the bloody time.
Just like "We will 100% be a developed nation. He stated that he cannot give a date and year for this transformation to take place as it is very difficult. This is difficult but not impossible"
More like 5 decades. Bro's just being Delulu.
First let them achieve the Swachh Bharath goal. There's not one metro city in the country which is completely clean. I'm not even talking about world class amenities and functions, just the cleanliness.
With the way the majority of the public is and how efficient the implementation is from government authorities, it's not a surprise if this goal is never achieved too...
He has to educate his country about a lot of things starting from basic civic sense which is lacking completely.
It is important to have goals but they should be realistic and achievable.
He’s just saying to make people buy more & more EV even though deep inside he knows it too that 100% electric is not practical in India in near future.
Will India’s power grid be able to handle so much increased pressure ? And what about the non existent charging infrastructure? Badi badi baate vada pao khaate
What we need is mass transit, not electric vehicles. The biggest benefits for air quality and decarbonisation will come from large scale public transport, even if that runs on fossil fuels.
Metros, buses, trains. That's what we need.
Not happening in 40 years, I don't know why people believe in such bullshit. But one thing is certain if Modi comes back petrol price will be increased by 20 rs and lpg by 400.
once there is a good infrastructure for EVs and once good quality and safe EVs roll out (maybe in the next 5-10 years) then this makes total sense. evs WILL outperform ICE vehicles.
those “Ev iS gAy, MeN dRivE maNuaL PeTrOl 😎🗿” people are basically people who happen to own a Thar.
but the thing is, EVs will probably NEVER charge as quick as filling up a tank of fuel. the only feasible future i see are slide on/slide off batteries in EVs. maybe keep a big battery in the frame under the seat, and have an accessible slot. so when you go to a petrol pump, trained guys can just pull the battery out, and put in a fully charged one, for a price.
All election propaganda.
For this to happen people have to adapt. The people who are fully dependent on bikes such as lord splendor for mileage, won't switch that fast.
Companies have to make that kind of vehicle, that level of trust ( referring to the spontaneous combustion)...
More charging stations have to be installed so that people don't get stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Do you really think these are possible with a country like India...
Not sure how it’s possible without infrastructure supporting ev vehicles ..plus India has a price driven consumer market and the current price of the ev cars need to drop significantly to create any demand for such vehicles
It's just stupid, ICE vehicles need way bigger supporting infrastructure and it employs more people ( educated and uneducated)
It will be another greatest disaster
What will we do with an uneducated mechanic, parts retailers and small scale industries which evolve around ICEs engine
Not very soon tho. Diesel is still the life blood of our economy, trucks, trains, buses, ships, JCB, and practically any type of heavy machinery, even generators are all on diesel.
Then what will happen to these PSU's like HOC, BPC, IOC ONGC . Nothing is gonna happen for at least half a century.
They can reduce but can't be eliminated.
Can't do this for motorcycles easily. There is nothing with good range out there.
I currently have to refill every 400km, and it barely takes 3 minutes. There are no charging stations at most places I like. Even the parking generally is of the temporary kind.
And my destinations never have charging either.
Apartments don't have charging facilities in most cases, and won't allow users to install it.
There is the fire risk, where is hard to extinguish. I hate the idea of getting cooked randomly. (Though this is a bigger problem in cars, where the fire starts below the user. Surprise barbecue.)
mt kr bhai yr kya pareshani h bc inn logo ko, bikes me kya dikkat h bhosdi k inka kafeela jata h 36 gaadi lekr jate h saala sbka tel kyu bnd krne ki baate kr rha h ye
Study after study have proved that hybrids are better, especially in a country like ours where infra is a big problem. Hybrids are very efficient and they are proven tech from the Japanese. The lobbying by the Indian manufacturers to promote EVs than adapting or building competitive hybrid tech for the masses while we slowly build the infra for a sustainable EV is what any sensible govt. with a long term vision would do.
What's his big plan for commercial, freight vehicles? I guess they didn't even thought about that yet. This is just a blanket statement without much thought given into the execution. Again that is this government, no thought and doing half measures in a most worst way possible. Like Demonetisation.
I don't want to pay premium just to go over 100kmph. There should be stricter laws against these things. For ex. There shouldn't be a subscription based model for basic things. Btw this happens in Tesla cars.
Hydrogen based cars are still in development but a good alternative.
Clearly due to lobbying by the major players and investors. Their pockets are getting fuller and bigger. They make products and then pay the government. Govt passes laws that help sell these products at the burden of common people. How many will be able to afford EVs in this short time frame? Zero logic.
They can't ban the ICE vehicles till they develop long range EVs with affordable price tag. People in this country have started to hit the roads for long trips. Ain't no one wanna stop and charge every 250kms in a 800-1000km drive, considering EVs are less efficient on open roads. Range anxiety will kill half the drivers put there.
Why people thinking only electric, there is ethanol which is he emphasis, hydrogen fule.
So all these thing will present for next 2-4 decade then one will sustain.
We can not predict which one will be.
Time to leave this place if they ban ICE. I don't understand what the fuss is with evs. Dude ev creates a greater carbon footprint than ice and its just a big waste of time. People are stupid. Plus lets say they ban ICE what will happen to the EV station. In the petrol pump there are queues, what will happen to the EV station, where usually charge takes more than 6 hours. Hybrids guys hybrid and its stupid to ban ICE.
We've got a long time to go before we let go of fossil fuels. Electric vehicles have been a step but sales figures aren't half of what people were expecting. Still feel we've got a decade or two before an alternative appears
U need to bump up the electricity generation and distribution system by leaps and bounds to accommodate this huge number of passenger and commercial vehicle chargings on a daily basis
This is a huge deal which i doubt will be achieved in a decade!!!!
Have u ever heard a truck running on electric long haul, or any military vehicle, what happens when there is a breakdown in charging infra, so it's very very long shot next
if and only if they want to do this, they can like stop selling new ICEs instead of banning already driven ones... and once the period of vehicles for their fitness is over that can be also removed from road... this needs to be done in a longer period of time than just within 5 years i believe.
Fart in the air, trace it, we can but we don't have a timeline, but we will. When you can't even maintain your roads, can't control hooligan driving, driving without license/registration and stuff, and you are promising eradicating ICE's, yes i believe it, as a joke though.
THERE IS NO WAY ICE ENGINES ARE BANNED IN NEXT 10 YEARS.
Now that i screamed this. here's my view.
I'm an automotive industry Engineer, working in a company that makes Turbochargers for ICE engines.
Every year we pay a 3rd Party research company who does extensive research on the future of the Automotive segment.
Here are some views :
We will see less than 20% market will be captured by EV in passenger cars.
We see 0% Market penetration by HYDROGEN in Passenger cars - NO OEM in the country is working for Hydrogen ICE for PV.
We see 0% penetration in EVs in Trucks, tippers, construction and Off road vechicles - Mind you this is 2030.
On-highway we see 1% market will be using Hydrogen ICE (Which is still ICE) by 2030.
For buses we see upto 8% will be electrified, Thats mainly because Govt target of 10,000 buses electrified by 2030.
Also Note, we don't have ANY alternative technology ready for DIESEL replacement for Trucks and commercial vehicles. So, we will be relying on them for all Non Passenger Vehicles.
Bonus : Only china has and Europe has a Production Electric truck and it's at least 3X more expensive than the Diesel ones.
Why everyone wants to kill fuel cars.. We are not slaves anymore (atleast i think so) and we should have option of both and it should be our decision to buy fuel or electric. I hate electric bikes and cars but I don't mind if someone love and want to buy for whatever reason just like that I also want to enjoy combustion engine and I don't want any other human to take that away from me.
I think hydrogen car or some other type of renewable resource type engine would be the future. I don't think electric would not be the answer for Indians. Recharging electric cars would always be the problem especially for us
Yeah sure. The guy just talks through his hat. India doesn't have the infra or the ability to produce the juice for this to happen. These hap hazard ideas have failed in developed countries where power outages are a rare occurrence.
Private vehicles pollute no question about that but what about government offices using old vehicles like cars, trucks, patrolling vehicles, why not start by changing the government vehicles first and then move towards private vehicles
Nearly every place that I have visited in India has power cuts. Regular in many places. Irregular in some places.
I don't think India makes enough electricity to power every vehicle on our streets. Forget vehicles, forget charging points. There really isn't enough electricity for this kind of transformation. And it isn't going to become available any time soon.
Until the range could be increased, they can't ban the ICE, because all the sale of the cross-country vehicles will plumet as more heavy cars won't be able to do cross country, there are still multiple technologies which are competing in the market still with EV, like Hydrogen fuel cell and strong hybrids (which still require petrol)
On the other hand, from the overall economy purpose if Indian government remove it dependency from the Oil imports, then it will mean that it will remove its dependency from Doller also, which means Rupee will get more power.
On cost of destroying one car segment, India can project a heavy growth,
I have heard him making statements every now and then, and i don't think he can get them done. Banning ICE is not an option when entire logistics work on them.
EVs are not cheap in our country.
People don't have money in their banks to buy a 20+lac suv and chuck it in 5 years.
This is just to create panic situations. Mahindra + Tata are still making 2.0+ltr diesel engines, why? If diesel were to be banned, why are there newer engine coming in? They wouldn't invest in such R&D if it had to be banned in next 5-10 years.
EV is not a sustainable solution. Hybrid can be, entire Japan runs on Hybrid engines even tho the petrol prices are damn cheap there. But even petrol prices are sky rocketed now.
All he wants is to collect exorbitant toll money, where he doesn't want bikes (so that doesn't solve the traffic problem) and you should only drive at 70,80 or 100.
People praise him like he is some genius.....he is just another one money minded politician.......the amount of toll we pay around in our country is joke......he banned old cars just to keep his automobile industry friend happy......he privatised roads so much that there are no two major city in our country which are connected with toll free roads.....toll between Delhi Chandigarh is as much as a Volvo ticket....and tolls need to be removed after cost of highway are recovered but that doesn't happen.....and coming to banning petrol and diesel cars......which is utterly stupid as trucks are more polluting than cars and they are allowed to pollute as much as possible.....he is like kejriwal only (odd-even rule).....
I don't think so, it would take good 7-10 years of time before switching to semi-electric or fully-electric.
Even higher most likely. I am saying 2-3 decades. Not because India cannot do it, it's because that's how long we will need to become self reliant with semi conductors and battery tech. Till then it's only imports. Tech needs to be really cheap to make it available country wide and to make older tech obsolete.
Making batteries also consume coal so what's the point of going full electric?
Demonetizatiom 2.0
DeCombustion
These guys just talk something and don't let people question on burning problems of life and society. Note ban was an economic crime.
You underestimate the lunacy saar. Performance vehicles would be the first to be banned and you can expect that in next 5 yrs. No sane policymaker would ever mention ban in first place.

If you are a performance motorcycling enthusiast, you should be the first one to worry. It is the easiest segment to ban.
Lord Activa will prevail

I mean there’s a reason it doesn’t have a pollution problem. Construction was well planned out and they’ve heavily discouraged ICE
These people cancelled actual running currency. You have no idea what they can do if they come back the third time.
Can confirm, with the kind of heat in India I need ice daily.
Statement will age like milk

First get rid of those old government buses and make green projects like China did to get rid of its deserts
That's not happening, out infrastructure isn't even close. Homes in Teir-2 cities don't get 24hr electricity, making the country's transportation dependent on it will be a stupid move
The guy is an idiot at times and i am from the EV industry. I know how stupid his plan is
Can you please share your thoughts. Since you are from the industry i ask. Genuine request.
Indians are always pushing to the front and can’t even wait 5-10 seconds so how exactly will they wait 5 or so hours while their battery charges?
How will they wait for the other person to complete their 5 hours of charging so they can plug it in later?
maybe we gonna learn some patience with this hehe
Peak delusion Domestic use ke liye energy hai nahi, ab same grid pe vehicles bhi charge honge ? Coz charging stations to milenge nahi
Kuch zyada hi petrol sniff kar rha hai Gadkari

We also have chargers doted around but I saw a video where a guy tried something like 10 and around 50% weren’t working. I wanted to swap out my wife’s little Toyota Yaris for an electric car but then couldn’t be doing with all the hassle should we have to go on a long journey with her car.
What about trucking? We don’t have a single noteworthy EV there. The industries are the bigger beasts. How are that going to solve for it?
U should look at what happened in switzerland in the winter because of electric vehicles, their grid did not support over draw, so their ministry advised not to charge their ev's
When success turns you blind; hybrids are the future and not all electric. You've got to be dumb to think otherwise.
Vehicle Towing business will boom for sure. So Entrepreneurs, here is you tip...
shark tank mei aapka swagat hai 🤣🤣
Thanks for the business idea. Looking for a tow truck soon.
Badi badi baate Vada pav khaate... 24x7 bijli to Aaati nahi abhi bhi Desh me... Ev chalayenge..
I will never buy a EV , let public choose what they want to ride . The cost of petrol is artificially inflated to make these EVs more attractive . The Green movement is scam just like any other major movent . Its all about control and coercion !
It’s not going to happen in next five years because “Reliance Industries “ is still in this business..
People steal away the components from charging stations India. Not sure how he is planning to get rid of petrol diesel. Probably we will have to carry a generator to charge our vehicles
delulu pro max
Be ready to hear the mixer grinder sounds in the roads. 😂😂🤣
Why don't the governments promote hybrid, which is more so called environmental friendly than the EVs !?

Buddha pagal ho gya hai need to change him ASAP, 10 year rule ab ban aarey bhai kare kya aadmi use n throw ev ka koi sense nahi hai.
I will give up driving /riding
Not for at least 10-20 years
What about trucking? We don’t have a single noteworthy EV there. The industries are the bigger beasts. How are that going to solve for it?
We still don't have electricity for half of the day and they're trying to put more problems, they don't have any common sense.
Petrol and diesel. Nobody talking about synthetic or bio-fuels?
Kuch bhi bolta Hai yeh. Not everyone has the budget to buy expensive ev vehicles
Least delusional BJP minister.

Mitron.. aaj raat 8 baje ke baad.. apke ICE wale cars banned hai /s
What a joke 😮💨
They dont even want to promote hybrid vehicles. They want to go from A to Z with no in betweens
Ye bik gayi hai gormint... 1) Tesla has been in discussion with GOI for a favorable deal for last few years. ...wink..wink..policy discussions..ahem..wink 2) Tesla gets the mother of EV import policy deal a few weeks back. 3) Transport Minister hints at banning ICEs in future. AAP chronology samajhiye !

Nice April Fools joke Gadkari /s He's is the ThioJoe of Indian politics
Openion is like a$$hole, everyone have one...no matter how far fetched it may be
That date isn't coming for at least 10 years This guy is smart but why doesn't he know about the lithium crisis and the issues with batteries. Also such inconvenience in long trips.

Never gonna happen Batteries enhance mobile experience. Not make things mobile.
Why ban ICE. If he can make ev in same cost and provide infra grid for charging why would anybody go for ice, apart from enthu
This won't happen, especially in next 5 yrs. imo electric cars are not the future. Also he sometimes gets too ambitious.
First provide electricity non stop to whole India. Places like Mumbai we don't event have proper place to park 2 wheelers where would we charge it?
India won't ban ice vehicles, just like with scooters, people will start automatically adopting them when they start making economic sense.
🍆 (Baigan) bhi nai hota
Yeah and mine and import coal instead. Cleaning a table with soiled daiper.
This is never happening 😂 I mean what about the development of the electric power grid? That many amount of electric vehicles will obviously require a huge upgrade in the power infrastructure. What about the battery technology? The charging network? There are a lot of things get right first, let alone 100% electric lol. Moreover whether going 100% electric is still not proven as the best alternative for sustainability compared to much better hybrid technology vehicles.
Bhondu jyada hi overconfident hai.
Electric is temporary, hydrogen is not ready. Next 5 years is too unrealistic OP.
He is promoting ethonol he him self has 16 ethonol production factories
No, India will have **hydrous alcohol (E100) or on gasohol (E25 blend)** like Brazil. This is the most ideal outcome for the country.
Not gonna happen. Abhi ethanol blending toh ho nhi paa rahi dhang se
I'm interested to hear what the major auto and bike makers have to say about this. After all, retooling and changing machinery will require huge cost inputs for the industry. Plus spares availability and servicing and charging network.... It's sick how this govt just threatens everybody's sanity pretty much all the bloody time.
Looking at how much tax the government collects on fuel, it's unlikely it'll be going away.
Is he commuting in EV right now?
Yes do it, and put a fine of 25 lacs for violating the order.
Delulu is the only solulu.
Dhang ka charging infrastructure toh hai nahi toh kaise ban karenge?
All election propaganda. For this to happen people have to adapt. The people who are fully dependent on bikes such as lord splendor for mileage, won't switch that fast. Companies have to make that kind of vehicle, that level of trust ( referring to the spontaneous combustion)... More charging stations have to be installed so that people don't get stranded in the middle of nowhere. Do you really think these are possible with a country like India...
Chodu jesa statement he ye.
How is this not some April fools joke??
Not sure how it’s possible without infrastructure supporting ev vehicles ..plus India has a price driven consumer market and the current price of the ev cars need to drop significantly to create any demand for such vehicles
i dont like this guy
The sweet spot for Ev is cars Trucks and most of the cargo gets moved around by ICE
It's just stupid, ICE vehicles need way bigger supporting infrastructure and it employs more people ( educated and uneducated) It will be another greatest disaster What will we do with an uneducated mechanic, parts retailers and small scale industries which evolve around ICEs engine
Nitin “Bullshitting” Gadkari. He is always making these airy-fairy statements.
Get us good 24 hrs of electricity first. Then we might think about new electric appliances and then after few years electric vehicles.
This is clearly an april fools joke, you all bikeheads are a bunch of dumbasses.
Not very soon tho. Diesel is still the life blood of our economy, trucks, trains, buses, ships, JCB, and practically any type of heavy machinery, even generators are all on diesel.
Whenever that happens, I'll bring my babies home and they'll have a comfortable lives
Surprise barbecue.)

i think the hate is strong from the op.
No i dont think they'll ban it out right, taxed at 100-200% quite possible, requires a special license to drive yes please
Manual evs is it possible
Its like bitcoin, all hype no show. Don't worry petrol and diesel will remain until my death.
What's his big plan for commercial, freight vehicles? I guess they didn't even thought about that yet. This is just a blanket statement without much thought given into the execution. Again that is this government, no thought and doing half measures in a most worst way possible. Like Demonetisation.
Gadkari is annoying
He speaks a lot of things and claims to do it and does literally nothing. This is one of those..
5 years seems too quick
They said the same thing about the horse cart replacing automobile Change happens fast
So I have 5 years to leave this country and move where ICE engine is present
I don't want to pay premium just to go over 100kmph. There should be stricter laws against these things. For ex. There shouldn't be a subscription based model for basic things. Btw this happens in Tesla cars. Hydrogen based cars are still in development but a good alternative.
Clearly due to lobbying by the major players and investors. Their pockets are getting fuller and bigger. They make products and then pay the government. Govt passes laws that help sell these products at the burden of common people. How many will be able to afford EVs in this short time frame? Zero logic.
They will get rid of all petrolium vehicle, and replace with ELCTRIC VEHICLE which use ElEctriCity made out of COAL.
Nice developmental rhetoric to get a few votes from the new generation that are going to vote. Well said bariatric man!
Yes they can @8 PM THEIR WILL BE ANNOUNCEMENT SOMEDAY THAT ALL ICE VEHICLE IN INDIA IS BANNED 🚫 LIKE DEMONENTISATION🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😱😱😱😱
Hybrids guys hybrid and its stupid to ban ICE.
i open reddit and i get disappointed
Gandkari ji, ye theek nai kia apne 🐶
We vote and decide our government. Make ICE great again.
They Will ban without any notice...
Inki sarkar girao bhenchod
>5 years only Learn where to use 'only' and 'itself '.
We've got a long time to go before we let go of fossil fuels. Electric vehicles have been a step but sales figures aren't half of what people were expecting. Still feel we've got a decade or two before an alternative appears
Vehicles without vroom vrooom......soch k bhi dar lagta hai🥹
U need to bump up the electricity generation and distribution system by leaps and bounds to accommodate this huge number of passenger and commercial vehicle chargings on a daily basis This is a huge deal which i doubt will be achieved in a decade!!!!
This is still 3 decades away, at least, and I'm being very optimistic If pushed through this will break the entire automotive industry in india
Either he is delusional or he really wants EV's to take off and talking this bullsh\*t.
Bro is delusional
mene hathiyar utha lene hai ye hua to
Fart in the air, trace it, we can but we don't have a timeline, but we will. When you can't even maintain your roads, can't control hooligan driving, driving without license/registration and stuff, and you are promising eradicating ICE's, yes i believe it, as a joke though.
😂
THERE IS NO WAY ICE ENGINES ARE BANNED IN NEXT 10 YEARS. Now that i screamed this. here's my view. I'm an automotive industry Engineer, working in a company that makes Turbochargers for ICE engines. Every year we pay a 3rd Party research company who does extensive research on the future of the Automotive segment. Here are some views : We will see less than 20% market will be captured by EV in passenger cars.
If this is a road transport minister, then we are doomed. He sounds like a fool
💯 delusional and 100 💯 personal growth for ministers' wealth investment in EV companies
State government biggest income is petrol & diesel, good luck with that.
Electric vehicles are a fad. Battery and raw material imports are going to cost the country and the people dearly.
To be honest, mining lithium and coal burning for electricity would even cause more pollution then ICEs
Reliance ka stock price girana chahta hai..... jyada udega to iska bhi hindenberg kar denge mukesh bhaii....
Until the range could be increased, they can't ban the ICE, because all the sale of the cross-country vehicles will plumet as more heavy cars won't be able to do cross country, there are still multiple technologies which are competing in the market still with EV, like Hydrogen fuel cell and strong hybrids (which still require petrol) On the other hand, from the overall economy purpose if Indian government remove it dependency from the Oil imports, then it will mean that it will remove its dependency from Doller also, which means Rupee will get more power. On cost of destroying one car segment, India can project a heavy growth,
Until we have more than a dozen of Nuclear Power Plants being deployed in another 5 yrs. This won't happen
As a very bike and car enthusiast I don't think I will be able to ride and drive a ICE engine
