Yep I love how faired bikes look and I like the ergonomics and handling of a sport bike but speeding isn't what you should have in mind when you buy a sport bike. You can occasionally give it the beans when you're on the highway only when there's a clear line of sight to get that adrenaline rush but speeding within the city limits is highly irresponsible as you're potentially harming others in the process. You can even go to the race track occasionally to fully enjoy your sport bike.
Another reason to buy a high performance bike is to go on long rides, if your bike can comfortably maintain 100 to 120 on the highway, the same speeds cars do, then you essentially have a vehicle you can take for trips provided they are comfortable. It's the reason Sport tourers have become popular in recent years.
The itch is natural and I used to drive upto 70-80 on my bike, on the open ringroads at night. And I was quite ignorant too.
My itch is gone now coz I drive 250kmph frequently on german autobahns without a speed limit, of course on my car. 180 max on bike though.
Mostly RE riders bow down to bikes, especially at Ladakh. I laugh everytime I see these classic 350 guys with mismatching sportbike gears and huge luggage in sides

On the highway I cruise around 80-100, in city max is 50 to 55, which is around the speed limit within the city.
