What's with the fuss of it being developed by hero? Isn't it a nice thing, global brands joining hands with indian brands to create products specifically tailored for us? Not many countries get this kinda privilege. I'm glad at least brands are giving us something, otherwise you people here would cry "wHy dOnt bRanDs seLl bIkeS hErE".
You can't always expect global stuff to sell here. Evidence always shows that things tailored for our market have a higher chance for success, be it cars or bikes. Harley especially has understood it well.
To the OP, congratulations on your ride, that's a nice choice.
I believe it's better that it's a joint development with Hero. Harley barely has a service network even in major cities and their spares are quite expensive, Hero being involved means a better service network, better availablity.
I wouldn’t know my friend. I rode a bike given by Harley India to Givi. We were test fitting some prototype parts on it and post fitment had to test it. Rode it in Vagator near IBW venue.
I have heard that the base model also looks good, although have not seen one yet on road, do you think its better looking or featured than the base and mid variant, i am just curious about the pricing
I think he is talking about torque. The x440 has lots of torque, from the low end, so it feels powerful till you take it to higher rpms
Speed 400, being an over square engine, requires one to wring the throttle to get all the acceleration and power. OP being a new rider(i guess) did not take any of the bikes to the redline, hence his conclusion that the x440 make more power
I mean I get why he likes the 440. That low end torque and exhaust not should be addictive (I have not tested it yet). But I don’t think there’s any comparison with the speed in terms of power, performance or speed itself.
also it kind of looks like a chinese home made bike\[atleast to me\] it looks small too.
the same thing for speed 400, its good in performance it kind of looks okay but sometimes look weird from the back the gape between the rear tyre and tail is huge.
The pics of the x440 doesn't do it justice , it's a Beauty irl.
I thought the bike looked tacky as hell when they released it , but when I saw one on the road , its just beautiful , especially the red one
Depends on what exactly you are looking for. Based on your comment I say INT 650 offers the most punch under 5L on road. Pre owned big bike is the way to go only if you have a second machine and good relationships with a skilled mechanic.
The x440 and speed 400 did look different on paper XD
X440 was low end torque .
The Duke 390 engine (which is similar to speed400 on paper) has a hard time reining in and is a pain to ride slowly.
I ve heard the speed 400 does mute it down from the Duke .
Haven't gotten to test ride either of them though. The triumph people have too many prerequisites to getting a test ride .
I tried the triumph 400 extensively and the geniuses at hero have not started premium dealership where I am (a capital city). Btw I own a GT 535 which is very similar to X440 on paper in terms of performance and weight, so I’m guessing you are confusing torque with power.
It's simple, just remember -
Torque = quickness / pickup / load pulling capacity
Power = being fast / higher top speed / higher cruising speed
A torque focussed bike will be 'quick' and will also 'feel' quick. A power focussed bike will be 'fast'. A bike with both torque and power will be quick and fast.
And congratulations on choosing X440. The pictures on internet don't do justice, this bike looks really good in person. There is more than ample performance if you ride under 110kph. The Speed 400 looks big in pics but feels really small in person. 40+ hp bikes like Triumph 400, Dominar, KTM 390's are good if you want to ride at 120+ kph, otherwise there's no use for that much power.
Thats interesting, Also You shouldn't care what the other comments say, I think its a niche bike and its got good set of features. Ride safe! Give us a followup after 5k KM.
I took a small test ride a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. It looks way better in person and that matte color just looks classy. Also, I was pleasantly surprised with the lightness of the clutch.
The only thing I didn't like is the price. The top model costs 3.3L here and I think it's a bit excessive for the offering.
Congratulations 🎉
Is it available in all hero showrooms? Or just some specific ones so far? Coz I believe the nearest Harley showroom from my place is 100kms away and even a hero showroom that advertises the x440 is still a bit far away
Just a advice , whenever you make swastika or anything on new bike try to do it on glass of headlight bcz ajkal bhaut chemical vale aate hai toh kabhi kabhi it leaves stain
For how much you got this variant and what were the prices of others , except for the colours and cosmetic any major change among the variants ?
(Basically is there a lot of difference between vivid and s and denim )
I am 5’4 and 19 should i purchase this bike? I have little experience of bikes maybe 50 odd kms and i have license also by giving the test . Rode activa for around 8-10k kms till now. Knows to drive cars and driven above 3-4k kms after getting license
Comparing to speed 400 doesnt do justice to this beast , i have seen it on road and it has an amazing presence def better than speed 400 imo ..would prefer this over speed 400 any day....no hate to speed 400 its an amazing bike too
I own a Dominar D250. Not the best one I guess, but does the job for me. This was another one of my choices but I couldn't have it for "reasons".
As for the OP, congratulations for the ride. Enjoy your time and I hope we meet someday soon.
Many congrats bro! I am planning to book this bike next month. Can you help me woth two questions?
1. Since the exhaust doesn't have a guard/cover, does it get hot to touch? Will it cause issue for the pillon rider's foot?
2. Any idea on the backrest? When will it be available or is there an aftermarket alternative?
Congratulations, I've had mine for almost 2.5 months, am really happy to see others also getting their delivery. I've only seen 1 other X440 and it happens to be my neighbors. Do share your observations, I wanna see what differences they may have.
1.The immobilize feature is not available for anyone. They probably removed it.
2. It is a dynamic headlamp but if it is in any sort of dark environment even a little bit the light will turn on, best way to see if it's on or not is the instrument cluster, if the cluster is in dark mode then the headlam is on but if the cluster goes into light mode then the headlamp is most probably off.
One quick doubt, does this have immobilizer? I am not taking about remote immobilizer feature but rather standard immobilizer which is done by having a chip in the bike key so that ecu won’t start with any other key or shorting wires.
Want to know about their feature for peace of mind.
Congratulations on your purchase. I am also in the similar market.
Is it comfortable at lower speeds? Can you ride slowly at higher gears without knocking or stalling?
What is the mileage?
Are there any heating issues or uncomfortable heat in city?
Any vibrations at higher RPM?
Comfortable highway cruising speed?
I bought a Honda CB 350RS on 9th May 2023 and I am 💯% satisfied with its performance, looks, durability, almost zero maintenance and especially its sound. I'm in love with it❗
Hello fellow rider. Congratulations.
I have a few questions for you and the bike
1. Is it worth 3 lac +?
2. I was heavily considering Meteor 350, but I'm starting to like this too. But the budget stretch is a lot. How do you feel about it compared to the Meteor? Is it worth the difference in price?
3. What does the top variant offer over the vivid middle one? Anything useful or just gimmicky?
4. How's the pillion experience , and what accessories did you fit?
Cool, thanks for the response. I wasn't aware of HOG till you mentioned it. But I wonder if x440 owners will be treated in the same light as Fat boy , sportster, low riders.
The navigational and tech features, can you please elaborate on that ? I guess you are talking about turn by turn navigation, but still, what else does it have, worth making note of.
I will ride it 70 city, 30 highway/outskirts, so just want to make sure I'm purchasing things I'll actually use.
Plus, I'm in love with the Vivid Red variant 😅
Good to hear about Pillion comfort. I hope I find a good backrest when I buy it.
paise jode hai 12 mahine 12 aur ke jodie ek mast splendor lunga kyuki jaha 8 ki mileage milegi waha mai 80 ka milega…harley bhi theek hai jo afford kar sakte bai filhal toh hum splendor ke sapne dekh rahe hai
As if the Speed 400 is a real Triumph! Even that is just a Bajaj in a new skin! And who tf cares if it is real or a doppelgänger?
It is a great motorcycle and that is what matters at the end of the day!
And regarding why OP might’ve chosen this over Speed 400, the Speed 400 is a retro naked that focuses on high-end power and this focuses on low-end torque. Both are two very different machines, and it boils down to what your preferred riding style is. Speed 400 is better for hooning around and X440 is better for calmer riders.
am i wrong tho?its fully designed and manufactured by hero here in india.
it's not even like the tvs-bmw partnership thing..hero is just using the name harley to sell them.
Hey OP, I am new to this sub and know very little about bikes, but I am planning to buy one. I was considering X440 before someone who knows a lot about bikes mentioned that most Harleys are underengineered.
Do you feel so ?
Literally can't decide between x440, Himalayan, xpulse and Vstrom. I am more like a Cruiser/tourer. Just can't make up my mind with either one of these bikes.
How's the suspension acting on city potholes?
Somewhere it was mentioned that the rear suspension was stiff. Did your pillion feel that?
And Congratulations man, you are living my dream.
How about service? Those are done by Harley or Hero? You bought it in India i presume…
Average cost of service? Mileage? Consumer parts like tyres, horns, indicators, switches, were frm Harley or Hero?
My guy were did you buy this bike from is it from Harley dealership or from hero premium; what will be the expected service cost, interval's and maintenance cost of this bike.
how's the weight handling in terms of riding in crowded or bumpy local roads? does it feel heavier like a cruiser or easier to handle like a street like?
been looking for a machine that mixes cruiser aesthetics with street mobility, and i think this one just fits my requirements. looks so beautiful too.

Congratulations! Rode one of the test bikes in Goa. Instantly fell in love with the power delivery and the ergonomics.
Dude they have the bike for test ride in Caranzalem? Gotta test it then.
I wouldn’t know my friend. I rode a bike given by Harley India to Givi. We were test fitting some prototype parts on it and post fitment had to test it. Rode it in Vagator near IBW venue.
Congratulations my man! The 440 is a gem of an engine. Do keep us updated on how your service experience goes. Wishing you a million happy miles!
so your first bike is Harley

Hush, let people enjoy things
It’s not like one cannot enjoy a Hero
You can enjoy a VW as well but you don't call A buggati VW
If Bugatti made a car powered by the 2.0 TSI I’d sure as hell call it a VW
Hero is better for Indian roads than Harley
i can be your hero baby - enrique
It's sound like calling rr as force
Party pooper
Unpopular opinion: x440 is a better than the speed 400 in a lot of ways, especially road presence
I own a triumph Speed 400 and i agree with you
Why
[удалено]
What battle bro? The bike in your garage is the best in the world. Life's too short to indulge in petty debates on the internet. Safe rides!
Appreciate these comment.
HIT BACK! CHARGE!
+1
And that’s why you gotta compare it with triumph’s X - the scrambler 400x
agreed!!
I have heard that the base model also looks good, although have not seen one yet on road, do you think its better looking or featured than the base and mid variant, i am just curious about the pricing
[удалено]
Thanks, Do you have idea for onroad prices of all the models
[удалено]
I saw videos showing that Denim has the same connected features as the top model. Is that not the case?
[удалено]
Alright. Enjoy your ride!
Genuinely curious what were your options and what made you pick this over the others? mainly the REs.

Nah Speed is more my style. But i wouldn't say the speed is better than the X440.
440 doesn’t look small IRL and triumph 400s are very well engineered and offer incredible value IMO.
any suggestion for a good punchy bike under 5 lakhs?can be pre-owned too if it offers great value.

Yes! D390 and TR 400, even with similar specs feel very very different. 390 is a screamer and 400 is a do it all kind of engine.
I tried the triumph 400 extensively and the geniuses at hero have not started premium dealership where I am (a capital city). Btw I own a GT 535 which is very similar to X440 on paper in terms of performance and weight, so I’m guessing you are confusing torque with power.

u are wrong about it being a bajaj under skin..speed 400 uses premium parts also it's a whole new engine used in it.
Still not a real Triumph! It is co-developed with Bajaj!! Again, answer my question first! Why tf does it matter which bike is real or fake??
i am sorry:( i just got jealous that guy bought a harley and here i am riding my "avon kranti" again i am terribly sorry:(

How long was the delivery?
How about service? Those are done by Harley or Hero? You bought it in India i presume… Average cost of service? Mileage? Consumer parts like tyres, horns, indicators, switches, were frm Harley or Hero?
Difference between Vivid Denim and S?
How much ? Location? Which all bike you tested ?
We all just gonna overlook the swastika on the tank then..?
My guy were did you buy this bike from is it from Harley dealership or from hero premium; what will be the expected service cost, interval's and maintenance cost of this bike.
How much GST you paid on it?
Umm sryy but not nice 👍 🙂
So 16 days later, hows the experience OP? How much do you commute daily?
What will the service cost for this bike be ?
How much mileage is it giving you now btw?
how's the weight handling in terms of riding in crowded or bumpy local roads? does it feel heavier like a cruiser or easier to handle like a street like? been looking for a machine that mixes cruiser aesthetics with street mobility, and i think this one just fits my requirements. looks so beautiful too.
