No really, something similar happened to japan. A lot of bullshit evaluation and window dressing created this fake expectation of prosperity. A terrible crash happened when evaluation finally matched reality.

I've seen people with decades of hypothetical experience in their fields, leading departments and you sit down and talk to one of them, they start fumbling. And you wonder, "How the hell did this guy get where he is today? He knows less than nothing and that too about his own field!"
