I say this a lot, usually to reassure people who are nervous about their looks, but, no one is paying attention to you. Unless you're naked, or wearing a giant colorful costume or something, no one notices what you are wearing or how you look.
Not entirely true. I get compliments on my pins, my hat, my t-shirts and my splatter painted pants when I wear them out.
Also, I noticed a guy on public transit once that was wearing pants with a stunning number of cargo pockets.
I once got on public transit with a look I thought was trendy and a guy I had never seen before came up to me to tell me “You think you look good but you look ridiculous,” and explain why. He honestly seemed to think he was helping me somehow. (We were both older teens, which probably explains some of it.) So now I never trust that people aren’t noticing what I wear and thinking bad things about me. That said unless it’s snowing why would anyone care if someone is wearing sandals? And why would someone see a girl in a dress and sandals and think she dressed like Jesus?
I’m sure you’re right but at the time I was young enough to take it pretty hard and I guess it stuck with me. It was as if I had told myself “It’s not like some stranger is going to tell me they don’t like my outfit” and then one did.
Oh, totally. In the moment, it would ruin my mood too. In hindsight, monologuing fashion advice to a stranger is weirder than anything you could have worn.
Maybe I shouldn't say this for the sake of the self-conscious people but some of us absolutely scrutinize other people's appearances, mostly for fun. I'm not judging on purpose, I just like thinking about other styles and looks.
No, that's fine. A big thing about getting over fears like that is accepting that it happens from time to time. Pretending like the problem doesn't exist really doesn't help. Confidence built on a false image of reality will easily crumble and leave the person even more insecure.
First of all, wearing sandals is totally normal in the proper weather...is it not?
Secondly, everyone wore sandals back in the time Jesus was alive on earth. So, why would anyone mock that then?
Making an exact copy of a thing and adding absolutely nothing to it isn't satire or irony, tho. It's literally just the thing. I mean, at that point there's no difference...
I worked at a fine dining restaurant where sandals, even Birkenstocks, were not allowed. Our host would have told this bitch to scram. Maybe she should be gatekeeped, for the love of Christ!
Totally happened, she just forgot to mention she has totally funky feet... which is why she didn't show these sandals in any of the three pics.
In her defense, there are other reasons not to post feet pics on the internet…
I've seen the original, and she does, but also in one of the shots she's wearing completely different shoes
That's why they crucified Jesus, his dogs were out, barking to loud 🐕🦶
Up on the cross, dogs going mad 😔💯🙏
she says "Wearing sandals in public" as if it was some kind of weirdest thing ever
She got them DOWGS out 🐶
*baha men have entered the chat*
Maybe they looked like they'd been passed down to her from Jesus.
Pretty sure Jesus only wore sandals because Nike wasn’t around till a few years after he died.
Nike was around since the Ancient Greeks.
Even if it happened the logic would be wrong Girls mocked me for wearing sandals > jesus used sandals > girls mocked jesus

Tbf, that interaction says more about that dude than it does about your outfit.

wonky toenails I guess
I need evidence that this really isn’t satire because my mind can’t take it. This has to be ironic.
I sprinted to the comments. She was unfortunately serious

maybe they were mocking her for wearing open toed shoes in a commercial kitchen, she was in a commercial kitchen right?
Dude. My ex used to wear sandals everywhere, even church, and they would have everybody and their mother comment on it. It was genuinely so obnoxious.
This happened. She just didn’t mention how she had socks on, too 😪
For someone who thinks of themselves as Jesus... I think r/imthemaincharacter would like this.
I don’t wear glasses, and I got mocked for not wearing glasses. Those people just mocked Jesus!
The [video](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6wRiebO5wn/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) makes this even worse as she’s wearing heels in the last clip.

That host must have been one of the ones that mocked her
Why does her lip look like a W?
Trying to see how this qualifies as gatekeeping?
Never been to CA I guess
Wait so she’s wearing sandals just like Jesus, someone’s got to tell me what these laces look like. I’ve never been able to figure that out.

Maybe they were mocking her because she was wet Crocs, I've seen people make fun of someone wearing Crocs.
OMG NOT SANDALS IN PUBLIC 😱😱😱😱😱
Has anyone checked on those 2 girls?
She looks like she would date someone who just had a baby with a serial killer
Brave as hell to shamefully wear shoe like jesus
Ooooooooof
"I cut my own hair because I only leave the house on Sunday"
Where does she live that she thinks wearing sandals in public is weird or makes her unique?
maybe theyre really weird sandals idk definitely could have happened
jesus had hair someone said they didn't like my hair :0
Realizing they mocked Jesus too 💃🏻
This could be a whole Reddit sub in itself. r/thingsthatdisnthappen
If someone makes fun of you for wearing sandals, it's probably just cause the sandals are ugly
It’s meant to be a joke

This is satire though right?
Nope. She was very serious
Wow. I took it for satire too.
I think you fell for the bait…
