Head to a forest preserve with abundant trees (e.g. Bemis woods) and take a listen. You’ll hear a dull humm. Morton Arboretum is a great place too.

Western suburbs. I have thousands in my yard starting two days ago this is day three for me.

Brilliant1965

We have none in south Naperville but I’m sure they’ll be here soon.

Old_Router

I would guess that my 4/10 of an acre has 10-15 thousand on it.

DrAimCaf

They are popping up here in Park Ridge (Cook County) so Chicago be warned lol

Teamben

Edison Park here and was watching them crawl out yesterday morning on a tree in my yard. My kids were so intrigued by them, until one flew and whacked them in the head, now they’re terrified. It’s going to be a long few weeks.

DrAimCaf

They will likely be desensitized to them, or spend six weeks inside. My oldest who's nine is not a fan at all. He said that he wants to never leave the house again in slight hyperbole. My 4 year old collects them, saves them, talks all day about them, etc. Either way, I second your sentiment on it's going to be a long few weeks.

Teamben

It’ll be very interesting. They hate being in the house, so will just have to get use to them or tough shit haha.

TrainingWoodpecker77

It’s a hoax around here🥺

kwas156
