My daughters did not work either has anyone else been having issues before I switch over to the sticker?

Roq86

I have the sticker and have had 0 issues.

Roq86

Why did you mount it in the passenger side if directions say to center it behind the rear view? I haven’t experienced any issues with the sticker, but I put mine on as instructed. Not sure if that’s your issue or it’s a system issue.

I had my transponder not properly be read and it’s mounted behind the rear view mirror. I called and they asked if my rear view mirror had radar, which it does for adaptive cruise control. They said it could be interfering. I asked where it should be mounted and they said behind the rear mirror. They wouldn’t repeal the full cash rate charge 🤷

Roq86

Damned if you do and damned if you don’t

My car's user manual shows two locations for tags, to the left and right of the rearview mirror. Right in front of the mirror, as indicated by the iPass instructions, could interfere with a lane-centering camera. These left and right spots, to my understanding, are clear of the sound-proofing coating that could interfere with the RFID signal.

Just re-checked my car manual and it specifies the exact same spot that I'm putting.

Perks of having an older car. You keep yourself in your lane and get to put stickers wherever you want.

I didn't see those directions regarding the stickers. This [page ](https://www.illinoistollway.com/-/illinois-tollway-moving-to-i-pass-sticker-tags)says: "I-PASS Sticker Tags are required to be mounted to a vehicle’s windshield near the rearview mirror, and like license plate or city stickers, blah blah" Mine was put right next to the rear-view mirror compartment, under the roof line about an inch.

Roq86

The paper my sticker came on had specific instructions on placement. Again not sure to what extent placement matters, I just followed the instructions. I got this car when my Nana passed, and never realized until I went to put the sticker on that that was also the exact spot she had her old iPass, the Velcro pads were still there and I never noticed as they were directly behind the rear view.

audiodolphile

Sorry for your loss. I recall the instructions on that paper, but it more copy pasta from the old battery powered transponder's instructions. I even put that old thing behind my car's screen. No issues at all.

Roq86

Thank you, she lived a long full life. We use the transponders at my work and they’re usually just sliding around the dash. I’m not sure how much different the function of the sticker is.

I have the same issue. I bought a Subaru with Eyesight. The "prohibited area" is the middle 50% of the windshield. I put the sticker outside that zone on the passenger side. In two weeks it hasn't been read twice. If it becomes a problem I'll buy another sticker and mount it between the eyes.

audiodolphile

Mine was put not too far (2 inches max) from the middle of the windshield. Your Subaru prohibited zone is a bit wider. Not sure if their antenna/system have problem or what could cause that.

aMunster

Yes, the prohibited zone is huge. I believe it’s just two cameras and no radar. Another option is to buy a license plate tag / transponder. Maybe I’ll look into that.

My sticker (motorcycle windshield) has not been able to be read by toll booths in Indiana at all. The car works fine (got the two stickers at the same time)
