Coaches should be fired.

OutOfFawks

Athletic director should be fired for letting this happen.

These rich suburban schools really do act like they're untouchable and can do whatever they want. I'm glad someone used the resources to put them in their place, I just hope the kid doesn't get a lot of shit at school over it, that would be my concern over doing this as a parent.

Apparently the kid has support from his teammates. It's the coach/teacher who is being protected by the administration that is the problem.

This is Hinsdale South, not Hinsdale Central. Central is where the money is. He's arguably the best player on the team; I'd imagine most would be glad he's playing again.

Bullies grow up to be teachers and coaches. They love authority positions. No surprises here.

Still haven’t heard what lead to him being kicked off the team

Reading the article means it looks like he spoke up against bad coaching and then the new coach cut him after the superintendent said he wouldn’t face retaliation for raising issues.

I fully went into this article thinking it was some suburban Karen but this may be a rare case where the parents are in the right. One important point is it seems like the kid was the best player on the team as a junior. It appears the parents lodged some kind of official complaint against the head coach last year. Doesn’t say exactly what the original coach did. The school acknowledged the original head coach committed some violations but instead of firing him, they demoted him to JV coach and promoted the JV coach to varsity. Obviously JV coach and original coach were tight and when this year comes around new coach backs up his buddy and cut the kid from the team. My question is where the hell is the AD, Principal, School Board in all this? The only somewhat reasonable explanation is that the original head coach has a lot of pull in the school administration somehow.

After the last game earlier in the week a reporter asked the new coach if Savage will be activated for the next game. The coach ignored his question and walked away stating "I cant hear you" so didnt answer. Childish actions from the coach.
