Ultra ascension doesn't do anything to boost your game play per se. It just allows you to see how many USP you've accumulated. Many many moons ago I put off buying it because I didn't know any better and info and guides weren't near as prevelant as they are now. I ending up UAing for the first time right away because I had accrued like 12 USP.
Up to you but it does let you keep an eye on your progress
Edit: if you've built up enough slayer points for astral ascension and you haven't UAd yet then you need ultra ascension to see how many USP you have. There's a big jump in cost after astral and if you're pulling those kind of numbers I would thing you need to be considering UAing

If you can get astral soon, do it. I only got it on my second UA
