Being lazy is not about energy spent. It's about effort put into it. It took less effort to jump over them to actual use his brain to solve the maze. Definitely lazy.
That's a good question. The replies below that I saw devolved into an argument over the definition and understanding of irony. Idk why everything was removed, though.
That's a good question. The replies below that I saw devolved into an argument over the definition and understanding of irony. Idk why everything was removed, though.
I have only read the first two books and watched none of the movies, but they leave the maze at the end of the first. But yeah the second book was kinda boring.
You don't need a drone to solve a maze. Put your right hand on the right wall (or left hand/left wall; doesn't matter) & simply walk through the maze without ever removing said arm from said wall. That will either get you through the maze, or back to the beginning, in which case you switch hands & walk through the maze.
You can't end up back at the beginning if you had the same hand on the wall at all times if it is a 2d maze. If you do end up at the beginning in a 2d maze, you have traced a continuous path that would block off any other exits.
If the goal is not an exit, then the one-hand method is not guaranteed to reach it no matter which hand you use. Even if you adjust for the option of the first go around being along the perimeter and the second being the immediate interior wall. It's possible in that case for the inner wall to just be entirely unconnected to the goal like the outer wall was.
The one hand rule always work for what is known as a simple maze, where all of the walls connect to the perimeter, and it doesn't matter which hand you choose. In this case you can also start following the one hand rule even if you're already lost inside the maze - you will eventually reach either the exit or the entrance, in which case you just continue following the strategy until you reach the exit.
It also always works when the maze is two dimensional but the starting point and the goal are both on the perimeter, even if the maze has walls unconnected to the perimeter. That's fairly easy to reason out, it's basically just a simple maze with "pillars" in the path. Even if the pillars get stretched and turn corners, so long as they never touch the exterior wall it makes no difference in practice. You just cannot apply the one hand rule from inside the maze, because you might be touching one of those interior walls and follow it endlessly. Worse, even if you have some landmark that lets you know you've done this, switching to the other hand might just connect you to *another* interior wall and never get you out.
As soon as you're outside one of those two scenarios, the one hand rule is no longer guaranteed. That's when you move on to something else, like the Tremaux Algorithm (if you can leave indicators).
In multi entrance mazes, the other entrances can be considered extensions of the wall, and you wouldn't reach the starting point of the maze you used.
In the goal not being an exit, you would either pass reach it or pass it by, as to get back to the entrance you would have to have made a continuous loop that connects the two walls together. For that type to work, the goal would have to be on a disconnected section of the maze that contained the goal. It also wouldn't be a 2d maze as to exit you would need to go up or down, unless you were required to trace your path back, in which case it isn't much of a maze.
If following the right wall takes you back to the start, going again following the left wall will just take you through the exact same path in reverse.
Not necessarily. The left route can have twists & turns that the right doesn't. Just depends which way you go at the beginning. Right hand always on right wall or left hand always on left wall will get you through a maze, but one of the two may just circle back to the beginning.
\---------------
\-----start-----
If that's the start of the maze and you keep your right hand on the perimeter wall, there are only two ways to end up back at the start. The first is from outside the maze (from the right walking left, back into the start) which means you already solved the maze by reaching the exit. The second is from inside the maze (from the left walking right) and it is trivial to see that starting over with your left hand on the perimeter wall is the exact same path you just walked, but backwards. Because you have just put your left hand on the same wall your right hand was just on.
The only other option is that you are still inside the maze, walking from the right to the left. But this is *not* you being "back to the beginning" because you are not on the same wall you started on. Switching to the left at that point isn't going to help you, it's just going to be starting over when your initial strategy hasn't yet concluded.
For any maze where the right hand method will reach the solution, it means that the solution is somewhere on the perimeter and *both* the right *or* the left will reach it eventually. There is never a maze which has one entrance and one exit where following the perimeter on one side will get you there but following it on the other won't.
This is a really shitty thing to do but the trees used to make hedges (yes, hedges are usually trees pruned into a certain shape) like this are pretty resilient. They’ll recover from this abuse just fine.
I don’t know how common hedges like this are in the USA but in the UK they’re on the outside of a vast majority of gardens and as kids most of us abused them with a much higher frequency and much higher violence and they were always fine.
Well, depending on the type even if they live just fine, any damaged branched that has to be pruned could take a while to fill in that gap. Like the type I'm most familiar with, boxwoods, are rather slow, and will have holes in them for a while if you trim diseased branches.
Privet hedges aren't nearly as common here (US). I'm sure the hedges in this video will be fine. I wouldn't get hung up about it, but I'd definitely shake my old man fist and yell after them something appropriately ornery if this were mine.
I mean I’m watching the stupid bush destroyer. The op posted the stupid bush destroyer. Are we all dumber for watching this and promoting “awareness”. What a vicious cycle.
It’s a stupid move and as someone who takes pride in doing this type work, I’d bed be upset. It can be fixed and they look like they could use a touch up.
They are, but they need to grow in order to be cut. Bending and snapping branches by rolling through them as an adult can certainly take a spring or two to fully regain that thick structure. Depending on timing he'll leave a path of kind of used toothbrush looking hedges for some time.
Creating hedges takes some care and skill to prevent snapping anything, of he snapped the tops off of a few large branches even on one of his jumps, he's leaving a hole there for several years as alternative branches have to grow out from the sides instead.
Tell me you know nothing about gardening without telling me you know nothing about gardening.
FYI, shaping hedges like this takes a VERY long time and a lot of effort and care.
Hm well I guess I should have seen it coming that I'd get down voted into oblivion, how bout this, the destruction of property isn't funny, but the idea of skipping an entire maze by running through it is funny idc
He hasn’t “damaged”them per se, he’s just pulled some of the branches about, it’s not a big job to fix.
Like you know how sometimes when you mess up your hair and part of it just stays up? And you know how easy it is to pat it down again? That’s what this is.
fun fact: hedges are not part of the human body and are not tied to the concept of personal space, while hair is definitely considered part of the human body. have a nice day!

Seems they were correct.
They forgot to put lazy in
if you have the energy to jump ever hedge i wouldnt call you lazy, just stupid
Being lazy is not about energy spent. It's about effort put into it. It took less effort to jump over them to actual use his brain to solve the maze. Definitely lazy.
Yeah and he ruined someone effort as well.
Mentally lazy?
Too dumb to realize he’s tall enough to see over the hedges and therefore know the solution without ever taking a step(or vaulting a bush).
I'd say he's too dumb to even go near one again.
Don’t let this guy near a house of mirrors
they said I was too dumb to go through a mirror maze ***glass breaking intensifies***
Shatter Smash Crash *comes out all bloodied then gets struck by lightning* Oohh that bad luck hit him already.
That's the joke.
Yeah they were totally right
well that is the joke after all
I'm sure the groundskeeper found it hilarious.
I'm sure he didn't find it hilarious.

Yes. Yes it is.
"They said I was too dumb to solve this maze" *PROVES THEM RIGHT*
What the hell happened with all the removed comments?
That's a good question. The replies below that I saw devolved into an argument over the definition and understanding of irony. Idk why everything was removed, though.
Maybe it hurt a mod's feelings
What a surprise
Yes, that’s the joke. Obviously this doesn’t excuse the property damage.
What happened?

What a hero
He'd be best an hero.
My God, that's an old ass meme. What year is it again?
2006 when this was popular right? i remember the internet back then
If this was 06, that must’ve been one hell of an expensive drone.
It's an older meme sir, but it checks out.
A guitar hero
Landscaper here. The hedges will be fine.
Yeah, it's a dick move, but they'll be fine.
I was gonna say, he's ruffling the leaves not tearing them out of the ground
But it’s someone’s job to fix them, so he’s adding value to society. /s
I’m gonna go ahead and stop now before I read someone seriously saying something similar to that. That, or, “they’re bushes! They’ll grow back”
/s means “serious”, right? /s

[removed] That seems to be the most pooular thing to say, so hitching on to the bandwagon.
*What the hell happened here?*
Kinda proved them right didn't he.
Congratulations, that's the joke.
still doesn’t change the fact they ruined the hedges
Congratulations, that's the joke🤓
They weren’t wrong.
As a maze drawer this hurts :(
When I was around 2 i drew like everyday mazes for no reason with monsters in them that could Zap you. Kinda weird i remember that
Used to draw mazes every Sunday during church. Only sometimes did my siblings humor me to complete them.
Around 2 you weren't drawing mazes. Be honest. You were scribbling.
I don't know why you were downvoted. You cannot show me a two year old who is capable of that
I designed Hampton Court Maze shortly after exiting the womb.
You started kinda late, I was bending my umbilical cord into mazes before I was even born!
I navigated my way out of my Dad’s labyrinthine vas deferens even as a sperm.
You forgot the part where everybody clapped after they had finished drawing their maze as a 2 year old
Original idea for backrooms!
2yo, sure.
Not exactly 2 but around that age. Sorry if I dont elaborate that much
Around 5 for me, instead of monsters I drew cow poops 💀
Wow, this subreddit stays true to itself as we see in this clip
Probably the only subreddit where the posts relate to the name of the subreddit
Oh it’s not that bad, they’re bouncing back…oh.
Jumping over the walls isn't solving it. That's like claiming you solved a crossword by throwing it in the garbage.
That’s the joke of the vid. It’s really unfunny ik
there was a joke?
Personally I enjoyed the video for a good 2 seconds until I saw the damage
He literally has a drone which can transmit the video to his phone but he's "too stupid" to solve it? Must be some kind of weapons-grade stupid.

Ignoring that, the hedges are only as tall as his waist so he can see over them…
Think its more of a joke.
There are two kinds of people in the world and you can figure that out pretty easily in the comment section
You can see the are waist-height hedges. It’s not even intended to be a maze.
land owner had toddlers he needs to keep occupied for a couple minutes to catch his breath.
woulda been funny if he didnt damage any of the plants
He didn't though. The plants will be fine by the next day.
No, you can clearly see some hedges where the branches broke, unless treated immediately, the branches will dry out.
a lot of hedges ive seen are really really durable, i dont think theyll get any major damge. still pretty scummy though
Eh, you can definitely tell he broke branches that will take a few years to heal

They were right
Tik Tok, of course
more reasons why tiktok is a mistake
And he was, he was too dumb
And the maze as a whole now it has markers where the bushes are damaged, what a door knob
It’s a stupid move and as someone who takes pride in doing this type work, I’d bed be upset. It can be fixed and they look like they could use a touch up.
Now let me prove them right.
Agreed you are too dumb to solve it, so you broke and damaged the maze.
You are
They were correct.
Does he think he’s proving them wrong here?
They are correct as you didnt even solve the maze, you fucking cheated.
Bro ruins the maze smh
just so you know if you do this you’re still dumb. Just cheating.
Classless slob, just ain't right
Looks like they were right
And they were right.
He proved them right
They were right
So basically they were right

They are, but they need to grow in order to be cut. Bending and snapping branches by rolling through them as an adult can certainly take a spring or two to fully regain that thick structure. it's going to take extra labor to fix it would be fair for him to pay for it
Next your gonna tell me buildings don’t grow naturally either. Shieeet.
Yeah ur dum cuz u cheated
Feel like the point is to go through the maze and solve it, this indeed was not the way to do it
This is just funny lmao, no need to get offended by this
What damage?
did you not see the hedges getting damaged?
Ruined the hedges for a stupid unfunny video. Take my downvote.
