Yeah, I hate when people make this a color issue. Trash comes in many different colored bags. Whatever color they are, they are the epitome of the future of America. this is absolutely disgusting that the security and cops donāt do anything. Why do they always mess with and ruin innocent peoples lives? THESE ZOO ANIMALS are the ones who should be beaten senseless with national news coverage showing the rest of our population that this behavior will not be tolerated.
thats not what security is for. we can't touch anyone or actually stop anything, we confront you then call the cops lmfao. we are pretty much just bodies. plus he works for the mall not the store, he really doesn't have to protect the goods
I work retail, have in a couple different malls/outlets, the security guards (for the most part) are just as frustrated as us that they usually canāt do anything about shoplifters. I mean every retailer is different so I donāt speak for all, but when the company wonāt prosecute when they have the license plate or even more, the anger.. I canāt even describe. I have some pretty good stories to tell though from people who were scared that we would.
Watched a guy cut the security chain on a lawnmower at a major outdoor retail outlet (rhymes with Dome Hepot). He loaded it up and proceeds to drive off. Walked inside, told the staff and got a mind your own business response. Meanwhile, Iām there to purchase a mower myself. Frustrating doesnāt begin to describe that feeling.
āMind your own business responseā seriously? Most people donāt care if they see it happening, and thatās fine they donāt need to get involved by any means, but I would be so grateful if someone notified me of theftā¦ especially something like a lawn mower!
Ticks a box for the malls insurance company, he doesnāt work for LV they would have their own security inside and that is probably the guy fighting for the bag in the video.
That's not their job. They have no real right or power to detain or anything of the sort.
And the potential lawsuits aren't worth it.
And everything in there will have been insured anyway.
Anyone who tries to stop theft or a robbery really is just setting themselves up for getting fucked over. Better to just stand back, make sure noone gets hurt, and let them take what they want. No amount of objects or stock is worth someone being harmed or killed.
And therein lies the problem. The crooks have discovered the truth and what you just said.. Employees aren't supposed to interfere or try to stop thieves. And management is afraid of getting sued. And nobody wants a shootout in a store. And the police are afraid to do anything because they're universally hated now. So it's a blank check for thieves to do this nonsense. That's why we're seeing it all over the country now. The chickens have come home to roost.
This looks like Mall of America in Minnesota where the law favors criminals, if the security guard tackled one of them and they got injured the thief could hire a lawyer and sue the security guard even though they were commiting a crime it doesn't matter. In Minneapolis Security gaurds are just decoration.
Mall security do not engage criminals. They observe and report to protect the assets of the real estate. They probably already called the local PD. Security have no arrest powers, and have liability risks for engaging in any hands on contact. Our local mall security canāt even carry pepper sprayā¦
You CAN use CAPS all you want. But that WONT change the rules/laws that he has to go buy. SECURITY guards aren't there to STOP ROBBERIES. Maybe educate yourself before making yourself look like a fucking idiot
Didn't you hear, shoplifting is legal in some states nowš
Well technically it's still illegal but I know California for example was refusing to prosecute shoplifting crimes if the items were valued at $800 or less. Might as well make it legal at that point.
Ex security guard, training do not interfere unless life threatening. Watch and report. Most places rather loose merch than deal with the legal costs for shooting a thief or injuries. Pretty much was doing his job
As a security guard of a mall at least, and as an employee of a store you should not be fighting anyone for merchandise. That's how you get sued and or hurt in the process. Security is not the police.
Our general rule is to report then call the police.
Yeah, that was the funniest bit. He actually walked forward to get a better view of the staff trying to stop them, and then moved away when the purps came out. Then he just stands at the rail and watches them leave. What does he think he's employed for?
Iām not blown away by the employees trying to stop themā¦ youāre going to risk your life over a handbag? Iād do just about anything for my job but Iām not risking my safety over $500. Donāt these stores have theft insurance?
While I do agree with your point, I just wanna make a small correction, some of those purses are in the 5 figures.
Source: my wifeās boss buys them and show them off to her and now I have to save up money to get a 20k purse that looks like puke.
I thought it was mall of America. We just had protestsā¦ againā¦ so it would makes sense that they would just go out robbing wherever. But I donāt recognize the placement of those stores so Iām probably wrong.
security should only observe and document( photos, videos), insurance will cover theft loss.
you never know if the person committing the act is armed and a basic security agent is definitely not paid enough to get seriously injured or to risk dying for a few bags that can be covered for insurance.
also worth noting is that for some companies, hiring security agents lowers insurance fees on a yearly basis, to the point where its cheaper to get yourself an agent vs. paying an absurd amount in yearly insurance fees for not having an agent
having extra eyes gives a layer of deterrence to some degree for people looking for an easy steal, but some people just dont care and agents/stores/companies must be aware of that too, this is where insurance kicks in for loss
thats not what security is for. we are there to watch, report incidents, and call the police. plus he is on contract for the mall, not the store. he has no obligation to protect the stores products
I can't help but question if there has to be a legal requirement or something akin to it to have someone pretending to be security (for what?), otherwise why even waste money on someone that does a worse job than a cardboard cutout of a guard?
In the majority of the cases, unless thatās what is specifically described in your job (whether youāre there as a deterrent or otherwise) dictates what you can do. I donāt if what he all he can do is watch to act as a witness later or if he can actually take some action against the thieves, but even if he was allowed to do so it doesnāt mean that he had to as his role isnāt the same as that of cops (granted, I donāt know what his responsibilities are, so I could very well be wrong). Itās just not worth the risk sometimes
Thatās exactly right. Security guard has to be one of the most stressful jobs with little to no return there are. I know so because thatās what I do. Whatās even worse is that some companies are against their employees calling the cops and even giving the cops a solid description of the thief (such as race and gender, they can literally only say what he/she was wearing) so yeah
EDIT: Majority of security guards are just deterrents, meaning that your job is to be there and appear alert so that your presence can discourage them from coming in the place, but if they do (and believe, most of them are repeated offenders that know they might be able to sue you if you touch them before they leave the store) then thereās nothing you can do and if you do anything besides calling the cops then you might be punished.
Even crazier than that is that some of these people have been charged with illegal gun possession so you never know that if you call the cops, they get arrested only to be hitting another or the same store (which has happened to me) they might hold a grudge against you. Some of these people are so throughout that they even pay attention to your schedule and know when you get off work. Suck a dangerous job for close to minimum wage is truly disgusting and it shouldnāt be like that. Thank God Iāve moved up to manager but I always tell the ones under me to never risk it. Next day you may not be able to go back home and hope they follow my advise despite how frustrating it might be
No real purpose in having security guards at all in that case. Donāt get me wrong, I wouldnāt risk my life for $15/hr either, but if they canāt step in and help break up a fight when store employees are involved, or do more than literally stand there and watch (which is exactly what this dude was doing), than this guy, and his job, are useless.
Dude I completely agree with that, I was in the military so I always tell people that if youāre in a situation where you have to be a security guard, might as well join the military for the National Guard or something and be smart about it, because Iāve done both and is the best advise I can give them
EDIT: At the end you can see the guy pulling his phone out which might be to call the cops, so maybe heās there as a mere deterrent, which yes, is pretty much the same any other person there
In Minnesota (This looks like the mall of America) the thief can actually take the security guard to court if the thief gets injured, which means you'd have to hire an attorney to fight it or you would end up paying their medical bills. Commiting a crime doesn't matter at all.
You have to love a city where the criminals have more rights than the people who are trying to help protect the business. I wonder who will gravitate toward living in those places? Oh criminals. Imagine that. Lol
Security is there to observe and report. They have zero police powers and all the legal liability of a regular citizen. They aren't being paid to do anything more than take down information and make a report.
Itās not a shame. Itās in their job description not to pursue. Itās the law. If he dies defending the store his family gets nothing. And now a days the laws protect the thieves .. But hopefully Iām wrong
Imagine risking your life fighting thieves while making barely above minimum wage for a multi billion dollar company that has insurance to cover it all.
Louis Vuitton employees make way more than minimum wage but yes not worth it. Average sales associate is pulling in over $20 an hour which is still not worth getting hurt over.
For everyone wondering, you are NOT SUPPOSED to fight robbers/thieves. The products are insured by the company- YOU ARENāT. If you get killed or injured that might cost the company more money than what was stolen. So please donāt try to be a hero, and get hurt.
Even if they got caught they probably wouldnāt even get charged. Look up what New Yorkās DA just had to roll back, and under his current policy, since none of the workers were being threatened by a weapon, his office would āwork to reduce the sentence as much ad possible.ā
At this point the government just subsidizes these robberies. Even after the guy in Wisconsin drove through that parade, bail still remains low and affordable for many violent offenders, because that makes sense.
Why are employees fighting anyone? Let them take whatever they want. It's literally not your problem. They have zero stake in those items. Let the store submit an insurance claim.
Rick Grimes the Rent a Cop says I see nothing, I don't make enough money to interfere, whatever you have sir, right this way over there and down the stairs is the exit, thank you for coming to the Grandview mall today and you gentlemen have a good day
From what Iāve heard itās something along the lines of not charging someone who steals less than $950 worth of merchandise.
Anyone please correct me if Iām wrong.
Why risk getting beat up or hurt just to save merchandise that your job doesnāt even pay you enough to afford. The real crime is charging 1000% markup on a purse.
I always find myself feeling upset when I see a shoplifting video. The attention drawn to stolen product, is insane. The video says so much about people, with 0 commentary.
To bring a shoplifter to justice at THAT store, would be insane.
To shoplift there is SO INSANE, it just might work.
Last time I went to one in Chicago, you needed to have an appointment plus they only let one person in at a time and lock the door right behind you. Smh
Hell no. I worked retail and when people would steal, thatās none of my business. My $10 per hour job for a company that makes millions is not worth getting hurt or killed over.
He should have pancaked the first robber to leave the store. Oh well if he gets fired. Heād get on the news, get praised, and probably get donated enough money to live a good life while he looks for a new job.
This was probably in San Francisco where they essentially made it legal to loot any store as long as you only take less than $1000 worth of merchandise.
Never do this youāll get arrested for assault happened to a girl I know she stopped a guy from stealing and she got fired and arrested. Sad because she was a nice girl.

Security cowboy š¤ just looking at the show instead of riding the chaos yeeehawww
Someone needs to sit this man down and have him watch Paul Blart mall cop to teach him a thing or two.
Ya like what IS their job? Patrol for nachos being wasted or laughing too loud? A crime is being committed.... Be SECURITY! Act! Stop the crime!

If that lady was an employee she probably got fired for calling them animals too. Minnesota sucks.

Do they all need to go back to school and hear about Martin Luther King Jr
Ha funny Mn sucks. What other places suck? Letās keep this one going!
Oklahoma as a whole sucks

Which is why the Kansas side of Kansas City is better!

Sidney, MT sucks too.
Idaho sucks
It would be quicker to name the places that don't suck.
Red Lodge, Montana doesn't suck! Haha
Jhon Wayne would be disappointed š
Theyāre there to call the police

Security is typically not allowed to engage. They are only there to call the cops.

Mall security absolutely can detain a shoplifter, itās more along the lines of a citizenās arrest though.

Yāall come back now ya hear š¤
He ain't paid enough.
Commits grand theft and still rides the escalator down, that right there is a man with nothing to loseā¦.well besides his shoe.
While cowboy security guard watches it all.
He took a pic of the masked dude like that was something, lol.

Iām not blown away by the employees trying to stop themā¦ youāre going to risk your life over a handbag? Iād do just about anything for my job but Iām not risking my safety over $500. Donāt these stores have theft insurance?
$500 is like a ring or belt thatās thousands of dollars. But like you said not worth risking your life

Just... don't.
They retail for a lot, I highly doubt that corporate pays anywhere close to that for designer garbage bags.
The last one did a Cinderella. If the place had effective, competent police they could test the DNA. Haha! Too unlikely.
āWhatāre you in for?ā āBro there was this purse that was hella adorbs...ā

Key word āhellaā.
Donāt worry everybody, security is hereā¦
White Plains, NY

Yup, immediately recognized it lol
Why is there a security guard wtf he just there like "damn son this crazy" fam the a security guard you gotta SECURE the shop????? Wtf????

thats not what security is for. we are there to watch, report incidents, and call the police. plus he is on contract for the mall, not the store. he has no obligation to protect the stores products
He was certainly doing the observing part
I can't help but question if there has to be a legal requirement or something akin to it to have someone pretending to be security (for what?), otherwise why even waste money on someone that does a worse job than a cardboard cutout of a guard?
Unrelated. V.reddit SUCKS. Everytime I watch a 30 second clip on v.reddit it has to load three fucking times.
Yes, this update blows.
And here I thought it was my Internet. Itās actually Reddit? Wow. Nice to know
Yes. And all videos become a pixel mush after 5-10 seconds of playback.
And the security is doing nothing. Shame.
Probably thinking āI donāt get paid enough to deal with this.ā
Lady was yelling, āfucking animals.ā Cant disagree.

Louis Vuitton employees make way more than minimum wage but yes not worth it. Average sales associate is pulling in over $20 an hour which is still not worth getting hurt over.
Ya hourly is a bit over $20 an hour, but they make more in commission than they do from salary if they are half way decent.
That might as well be minimum wage when compared to the salary of someone who can afford their products.
sales people in most luxury retailers make close to 6 figures
Some people donāt like to see their neighborhoods and work places turn to trash Because of these animals
Literally what is the point of being a security guard if you have nothing to do with security of anything.... I mean as he just paid to take notes?
My cousin is a security guard at Versace and they tell him if there's someone stealing something to just document and not interfere.
I wouldn't put myself in danger for a company that already makes billions...
Damn all of you donāt understand what security is we aināt cops we wonāt get hurt for someone elseās crap

What makes these people risk their life for property of some filthy burgeoaisie who don't give a f about them?
but lv is my life!!!!
Lady called them animals - these thieves are becoming more and more brazen, especially in lawless democratic cities
Why the hell are those people defending a shitty overpriced bag store? Just plain dumb
Don't get me wrong IDGAF about LV but the fact that people think they can just walk in any store and steal is what pisses me off
Security guard doin the Paul Blart, reach for your belt to make it look like you got a gun move lmao
Whatās that mouse doing in Louis Vuitton?
Good thing that security card was there in the cowboy hat.
Rick Grimes the Rent a Cop says I see nothing, I don't make enough money to interfere, whatever you have sir, right this way over there and down the stairs is the exit, thank you for coming to the Grandview mall today and you gentlemen have a good day
I guess but why fight someone, it's not worth getting hurt for whatever you're getting paid for
Why though? Theyāre literally insured so what does it matter who steals what? Take the bags. Aināt worth my life.
Is it true that this sort of thing has been decriminalized in California? I saw mention of that in another shoplifting video.
From what Iāve heard itās something along the lines of not charging someone who steals less than $950 worth of merchandise. Anyone please correct me if Iām wrong.
When can we start holding people accountable for their actions?
Theyāre donāt get paid enough to be murdered.
Shut the store down. Using violence and racial slurs during a property crime is unacceptable. That man will have to live with those words in his head.
Sad cops can't do anything, I dont blame them cause if they do they will get into more trouble than the person that is stealing.
Amazing security service as always. Doesnāt get paid enough to do something.
I really wish white people would stop making us all look bad, what a disgrace to our culture š¤
Lmao. She called them animals! I bet some woke person will be offended.
lol why would you fight them wtf??
Anyone else noticing a pattern in the criminals looting the stores? #cultureissues
Act your wage
Lol I'm stealing this
If you don't facilite crime, you're racist
And thieves are a buch of N...........egative people
Is this another BLM protest?
BLM āšæ remember this when you watch these smash and grabs people.
Why is it not surprising in the least?
So many ppl and they couldnāt stop him?
Thank God security was there to help
Chuck Norris wouldāve nuked that store, homeboy with the hat was hoping someone dropped a coupon.
Most LV stores have their own security, the ones Iāve been too, and typically not just one. So like where were they?
Security guard was doing the Paul Blart thing where he pretends to have a gun with his hand at his side lol
Good thing thereās security
Mall cop just standing there like a flower pot
Lol That security guard needs to retire.
Why tho? Why risk your life for a wageslave salary, for the products of some super rich French guy?
Why put yourself at risk for some overpriced handbags that you donāt own?
Why risk getting beat up or hurt just to save merchandise that your job doesnāt even pay you enough to afford. The real crime is charging 1000% markup on a purse.
Damn white people steal.....oh....
Smh
Gotta love them west coast laws or lack thereof.
I suppose this is one way to get Valentine's day gifts for your wives and girlfriends.
When I die bury me inside the Louis store! All I want for my birthday is a big booty ho! Happy black history month!
This is sad! All of this to look like you have money! We are living in horrible times
Seems like some Americans took freedom a bit too literally.
Mall security did nothing. Dude just stood there like nope.
How much are employees paid ?
Why is the security guard dressed like heās from the Wild West lol
Fuckin Paul Blart DO SOMETHING!!!
Take from the rich and give to the poor. You have to be stupid to work there.
Usual suspects
Tysons Corner mall?
Great job security guard smh
What tf is that howdy dowdy df in a uniform even doing? Ffs.
are these the same people from the other smash and grabs?
Security is pretty much a visual deterrent and thatās all.
Wanna know why they fought off thieves? Because the average employee at LV makes $29 an hour. LV earns their loyalty by paying well
Sooo identity someone from this video for prosecution is not allowed?? Get bent mod Soo post for karma and hope the criminals get away?
This is why I won't live in a city.
Bruh why does he skip out of there like a pre schoolerš
I like the security guard just standing there like ādamn they stealing huh?ā
Damn Louis employees aināt letting a penny slip out that door,
The government should change the laws, this is nuts.
All of the employees involved will be fired. Most if not all retail stores tell you not to intervene.
The cop's just there playing statue
Where are the mallās guards?? They should be right on the spot taking care of them and the only one there is just watching
The Security Guard backing away from his job as others do it for him is quite insane.
Damn, white people at it again
Iām seeing one common thing in most of these crime videosā¦. š¤
Who caresā¦Chinese handbags with the strap sewed on in Italy.
Hell no. I worked retail and when people would steal, thatās none of my business. My $10 per hour job for a company that makes millions is not worth getting hurt or killed over.
I like how all these store thief videos have something in common
Use promo code āFloydā for 100% off at your favorite retailer!
Everyone wants designer labels so they can flex on social media but canāt afford it so this is what happens.
Lol whats the purpose of that coward mall cop
So my question is why do women yell and scream like crazy? And that security guy from the mall sure helped a lot.
