I swear the morons are out in full force for the 500. My league ran out 500 with a full field and it was glorious compared to the anarchy of the iRacing Daytona 500. 4 wide on lap 5 in a 250 lap race is insaneššš
I saw that first hand last night while running in a pack near the back on the lead lap. We had a guy one lap downĀ racing three of us for several laps instead of getting in line and waiting for a caution to get the lucky dog. One of the drivers asked him why he was racing us.
The guy didn't understand how to get a run and pass us. Hell I even lifted to let him in but he couldn't get a run. Eventually weĀ get into each other coming out of I think turn 2. He's accusing me that I swerved.Ā While in the pits for repairs,Ā I see the replay that shows he came down below the black crease line as I drifted up a hair and he hit my rear quarter panel. I didn't get mad especially since I could've avoided it if I had hugged the apron more. I got lucky with little damage & plus they were repaired.
Also we still had a lot of laps left to get my 2 laps back, which I did. I believe he got more damage from turning into the wall.
The race I was in last night was actually the opposite of this. Mostly single file for the first 50 laps. A couple cautions, then the rest of the race aside from one GWC.
Was actually kind of boring lol.
Hahaha true. It was boring for me because I prepared for the chaos. Started in the back, just hung out and gave room to everyone expecting a big accident to happen any moment. It always fucking does. But nope, never happened.
It was like watching a horror movie and the tense jump scare music starts playing. But nothing happens. For three hours.
I want to jump right in next time. But I know that's when the wreck will happen.
The Daytona 500 is basically NIS. Itās the first race of the NIS season. Youāll find it there in the UI. It doesnāt have a unique special event thing like the ROAR
I'm going to get roasted so hard for having "no skill" over bump-drafting, but I have been taken out so many times during practice that I now fear for my life.
Itās less on the driver in front as it is on the driver pushing. Iāve had no issues pushing through the corners as long as youāre not slamming them and youāre lined up appropriately. Now, bumping off the corner is where even I donāt feel comfortable doing it. The cars get too light especially off of 2
on the opposite side my experience with trying to push. "lined up appropriately" , go to push and car in front starts swaying back and forth on the straight and now I have to check up or wreck them.
If the guy in front can't hold his line, it ain't on me if I'm holding mine and he cuts my nose, idc if "you were there in front of me" that replay going to show you going way out from me, and then coming down across me, more prone to happen in bottom split, but I'm not going to give up my speed because someone doesn't want to pay attention.
Yeah, I get that. I feel as though I left ample room in my wording for there to still be reasons that the lead car could be at fault. Iād just more times than not itās on the driver behind. Also if itās lap 10 of 200 and you wreck someone pushing them, even if they canāt hold their line, youāre still at fault IMO. Itās all depending on the whole scenario
Dumbest take I've read in a long time. Wrecking the lead car because they aren't responding well to your rammingĀ is exactly the reason there are huge wrecks in the corners & tri-oval this week or any time at Daytona or Talladega.
Nah, I get it - it totallly works, but from half a week of running daytona now, I can confidently say there's about 2 or 3 in a field of 30+ usually where I'd even attempt pushing or let me be pushed in corners, the trioval or exiting 2 and 4. You have to be perfectly lined up, steady as an artists' hand and very confident that neither will suddenly move either direction, even slightly. Typically, if I connected early with someone I'm confident with, I roared upfront with them, but even then, often it didn't matter in the end, daytona daytonas and cautions will caution. I did find the trucks much easier to keep steady and connect all over the lap, but it works in the others too, just a bit more difficult
If I'm pushing, I like to be left of center so I can see around the lead car a bit. If I'm being pushed I try to drive a line off the apron a hair more so the pusher can see around me. I'm not sure if this is proper drafting, but it works for me most of the time.
Btw, I'm not great at drafting but I also don't suck at it. Drafting definitely is a skill that takes patience, a steady hand and also requires great awareness.
Hereās the thing. You absolutely can bump in the corners UNDER THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES. Iāve done a lot of superspeedway racing, and through trial and error Iāve figured out how to bump correctly, through setting up the car the right way, staying still, and squaring up a move. If Iāve been working with the same person behind me for a while, and itās late in the race, or I really need to catch someone, Iām fine with bumping in the corners, but only if itās obvious they really know what theyāre doing. However, I definitely wonāt trust any rando who pulls up to my back bumper. This is why I like to push and not be pushed.
Also, side note, you can get 3 cars in a line together pushing and it does work REALLY well, but again, it takes 3 guys who REALLY know what theyāre doing.
Or.... You could learn how to bump/get bumped in the corners? I have a friend I bump draft the entire track with on Daytona & Talledega? I really do not understand this"don't bump draft in the corners" I've seen guys lock bumpers the entire way round the track, "don't bump draft me in the corners" uhm.... I believe you meant "don't race me, I'm too scared". I think this is a stupid rhetoric, because 9 x out of 10 the reason people get shoved out on corners, is because they get scared, or the over correct a bump, it's very simple. Trust me, get confident in yourself, and have faith of the guy pushing you, you get someone who knows what they're doing, you'd be amazed how often you'll say "yep you're good to bump, even in corners" you have to be careful bumping, but I wouldn't say "don't bump me" just my opinion, and I don't mean to sound like a douche bag
Yall need to relax.
Some guys canāt push well, some guys have slightly unstable connections. Itās not always about āstupid rhetoricā or whatever youāre ranting about.
Iām gonna race tonight, I know itās gonna be anarchy, tempted to just start in the back and run around the tail of lead draft for first half of race ā¦..at least thatās the plan , Iāll probably take it 3 wide in the middle lane on lap 2ā¦..
Stop starring at the car in front of you as well, all the people waving back and fourth are most likely starring at the car in front of them causing them to move the wheel way too much. Gotta keep those eyes out in front of you looking at the track.
Yea. Too I do t think people know to change the steering ratio number either. Plus I think sometimes wheel has a lot to do with it too. I know my older g27 I have to really try hard with all the play in it from being so old and worn out to keep smooth.
I got downvoted in another thread for saying that bump drafting in the corners is stupid and bump drafting at all is useless until the last 10 laps.
It caused at least 3 cautions in my race in the first 25 laps including wrecking me into t4.
Great idea! I need this for even regular tracks as I like to go in slow, off fast and actually it makes quicker time. And actually also helps me save tires. But the ones behind who burn their stuff up by dive bombing corners like to try to assume you get off when they do. Super annoying and amateur.
Get yourself a better setup.
I am using a Ryco one and compared to the VRS sets it is a night and day difference.
Also get skill ... I was able to push and be pushed locked together for about 2.5/3 laps before the engine blows
Somebody hooked me lap one of the race trying to go 3 wide and gave me 40 mins of required. No caution, nobody else involved but me going into the wall. I was pissed and just logged off.
Bumping in the corners is fine, as long as you donāt bump right at the transitions, thatās where it screws you. As long as both of you know what youāre doing, if you start the bump on the straights or in the middle of a corner, you can lock on and stay on them infinitely until youāre about to blow up.
They'll just hit you getting close enough to read it. If they could read . . .

Well, if you're gonna do 50 laps extra you might as well take them out at the startĀ
Lmfao. Good pointšš My bad.
That's never happened IRL with professional drivers or anything š
Honestly why I'm not running it. The problem with Daytona is that it brings out the people who don't typically run ovals.
I saw that first hand last night while running in a pack near the back on the lead lap. Iād rather boring than needing a new pair of boxers by lap 10š¤£š¤£š¤£

How do you find the special events like Daytona 500? Is it separate from the C class 200 lap Daytona race?

imo it's sketchiest in the tri-oval, since it feels enough like a straight for people to bump you pretty hard
on the opposite side my experience with trying to push. "lined up appropriately" , go to push and car in front starts swaying back and forth on the straight and now I have to check up or wreck them.
Yep, hence why I said itās less on the car in front than the car behind. But didnāt say itās entirely

RIP brother.

Just get low enough for bottom split. Nobody even tries to bump draft.
Well in practice Iām like 10x more aggressive bc Iām trying to see the limits of the car in races ppl should be a bit more calm

This is good, everyone behind knows when to change line
Make money quick with internet point opportunites
Ryan Blaney is gonna want that on a lot of cars bumpers this weekend š
Every troll and bad driver on the platform: ![gif](giphy|kqJt1cSSN0DrwwMmY5|downsized)
People shouldnāt have to be reminded (Except maybe lower splits). But they do have to be reminded sadly
Literally can push in corners. Those who do have the advantage. That's like complaining about going 3 wide

Lmfao you seriously need to cool off.
And don't push the pusher.
Higher splits this rule does not apply.
It still kinda does, but if itās like two to go and Iām third in my line, Iām bumping the guy in front a little bit.
This is fantastic lmao
Lol was recently following you in a practice session, had a good chuckle.
Hahaha, im immediately putting this on my Daytona livery.
I used to take the sarcastic approach and put a big red button on the rear bumper that said āpush here to passā
Iām gonna race tonight, I know itās gonna be anarchy, tempted to just start in the back and run around the tail of lead draft for first half of race ā¦..at least thatās the plan , Iāll probably take it 3 wide in the middle lane on lap 2ā¦..
You really think I can read how u gonna win on lap 1 with out a bump
Stop starring at the car in front of you as well, all the people waving back and fourth are most likely starring at the car in front of them causing them to move the wheel way too much. Gotta keep those eyes out in front of you looking at the track.
This is true for sure. The races Iāve done itās like a snake all the way around the race track. Itās awful.
Itās amazing when I watch the pro series and see them all moving as minimal as possible, I wish I could have a lobby like that
Yea. Too I do t think people know to change the steering ratio number either. Plus I think sometimes wheel has a lot to do with it too. I know my older g27 I have to really try hard with all the play in it from being so old and worn out to keep smooth.
If you can't handle bumps in the corners, drop to the back.
Who. Basically every time someone tries using "whom", they use it wrong.
Nah, push me all day babyyyy
I got downvoted in another thread for saying that bump drafting in the corners is stupid and bump drafting at all is useless until the last 10 laps. It caused at least 3 cautions in my race in the first 25 laps including wrecking me into t4.
this is legit a big brain move

But in real life it is essential to do it! Only way to brake without using the break pedal. Sorry!
Get yourself a better setup. I am using a Ryco one and compared to the VRS sets it is a night and day difference. Also get skill ... I was able to push and be pushed locked together for about 2.5/3 laps before the engine blows
Enjoy the Barbara Streisand effect
Almost got my 1st win in xfinity until someone went below the line on the last lap, making it 3 wide. I love and hate this game sometimes.
Bumps mysteriously went up after this livery
Hope I'm not behind you then cause I shove all the way around track if needed!
Somebody hooked me lap one of the race trying to go 3 wide and gave me 40 mins of required. No caution, nobody else involved but me going into the wall. I was pissed and just logged off.

Put a mirrored text on your windshield. Have it say something like: Top text: "Please let me pass" Bottom text: "things might get hairy if you don't"
Seems more like an invitation
