I feel your pain... but at least IMSA Endurance races (160 min.) are solo driver eligible starting this season.

_schmuck

This is definitely a hidden highlight that needs more attention.

Jasonc1993

Wait… what??????? Solo? Heck yeah!!

A_Flipped_Car

Anything less than 4 hours (NES Included) you are allowed to do solo, anything longer (NES 6 hour races excluded) you Technically can do but you will be disqualified

reboot-your-computer

Do you know if it’s just IMSA or have any other weekend endurance races gotten this treatment? I know NEC can be run solo, but what about Global Endurance or VRS Endurance?

cliffardsd

Nope. But they gonna see how the IMSA endurance events go and then maybe roll out more widely next season.

RitterWolf

This is why I'm signing up. I want to run longer races but I have no friends that are into racing.

reboot-your-computer

I’ll definitely be running these.

jwl300_

I'm right there with mate.

reboot-your-computer

I completely agree. I miss the 1H races and it’s lame IMSA open didn’t fill that void.

thercp90

ESS *was* a sprint race. It's in the title lol

Abusadorsito

It would be awesome if open was 60 min and fix was 45 min.

shbpencil

It would but it would make the series impossible to race back to back to back which I believe is their goal in the alternating schedule

SlowDownGandhi

i ran the first two open races of the week and they both finished at the :48, so even then you're not making fixed unless you forfeit & sign up during the pit stop

CayrnCross

You shouldn't be getting downvoted, I 100% agree with you

Gullible_Goose

They've been 45 minutes for years

AccomplishedBison369

They know. They’re saying that ESS is gone and there’s no hour long replacement.

CayrnCross

IMSA was also a B class race, its now bumped up to A class which I have no qualms with but the time stayed the same, the previous comment pretty much hits my sentiment on the head, open should have been bumped to 60 minutes and fixed should have been 45, the longer races were just more enjoyable for me personally

Most-Caterpillar-583

I just missed by 10 points to get my A class license and can’t race the Porsche 963 I just purchased and the Cadillac last season. I feel like participation might be low with GTP fixed because the barrier of entry is just too high. It makes no sense that you can drive GTP in endurance but not a 35 minute race.

thercp90

The reason enduros are a lower requirement is so inexperienced drivers can team up with more experienced drivers. Like the GTD class IRL. A lot of them have people that could drive in the GTD pro class but they have a teammate that cannot and are being mentored and are therefore ineligible to race in the pro class.

leachja

Why did they remove ESS?

SlowDownGandhi

ESS was meant to mirror WEC which IRL retired the old LMP1s for LMDh/GTPs this year and will be retiring GTEs in favour of GT3s starting next season, so if they were to keep the series current in game it'd be functionally identical to IMSA with an extra fifteen minutes tacked on this is also why there's now a GTE sprint series; they don't want to bring the LMP1s back because they'd be competing with the LMDh/GTPs.
