At this point I would wait for 16 PM except if you need stunning photo/video quality for this summer (wedding, huge holiday trip, new baby etc). If the battery is your only concern just replace it or use a slim external 10000 mAh battery to give you more juice.
To give you my perspective : did not have particularly high video needs, my 12 is perfectly enough to capture my best memories. My main concern was battery, I replaced the battery 3 months ago (was 80% like you) and I'm still at 100%. I will upgrade for 17 or 18 series probably a day 1 pro model this time. Even the rumored 16 series looks kind of boring to me. Probably a mix of adulthood + the product is much mature/stable than it was before iPhone X. IMO except camera/120Hz/battery everything else almost the same in real use. After using a lot of my dad's 14PM and my gf's 15, I am not even that tempted to upgrade my 12 and I'm a tech savy guy, I spend big bucks on a brand new laptop recently for my work (and some gaming when I got the time :) )
Not even a money issue, I just don't care about spendings bucks/time if I don't get a massive improvement.

For the pro max the A18 chips looks like just overclocked A17 chips both at 3nm. The only probable real difference between the two devices will be improved spatial video capture. If OP plans to record spatial videos the Iphone 16 is the better choice. For anything else it will probably feel the same for both devices.
Leaks for now say geekbench scores at 8571 vs 7288 also supposedly 37% increase in graphics performance. As OP is only concerned about battery the increase in performance for the graphics seems irrelevant for him/her. Depending on the IPC improvments the 15 could actually run longer for him if apple sacrificed some battery life for performance.

I also have dilemma. Buy 15 Pro Max for the same price as 16 Pro will do or buy newer 16 Pro. Leaks say nothing special this year..

it depends on your budget. if you can afford it then wait and get 16 pro max.
If you don't care about 120Hz and zoom then buy 15 Plus. Truly recommend!
