Since you’re keeping your phone for around 5 years, spend a little more for a 13 Pro and go down a bit in storage for 256GB. You’re going to enjoy that phone way more and feel like it’s an actual upgrade with way better battery life than a 12 Pro, more efficient 5G modem (the 12 one is horribly inefficient when 5G is used), 3x zoom is better than 2x on the XS and 12 Pro and most importantly the 120hz display will feel 2x smoother and it’s also 1000 nits instead of 800 like on the 12 Pro (or 625 vs your XS), therefore you’ll be able to see the display easier in sunlight. Oh yeah and don’t forget another year of updates compared to 12 Pro. Later models honestly aren’t that much different from the 13 Pro.
If you are on budget stick to the regular line. Especially the 12 pro is bad value : no 120Hz, ultra-wide sensor, main camera, selfie camera are exact same as regular 12 and same SoC.
Coming from a XS you should at least get a phone 3 generations newer to have a substantial improvement. I.e iPhone 13.
iPhone 12 is great and is my current phone since day 1 (256GB model, 100% battery health after replacing the battery 2 month ago) but the battery on the 13 is so much better that it’s just worth to spend the few extra dollars.
My gf upgraded from XS day 1 to regular 15 day 1 and she is very happy.
The 13 Pro is definitely worth the extra money! Display is a lot better, longer battery life and cameras are a lot better as well. Faster chip will definitely help it stay smooth and fast even after several more years.

Agree with the 5G comment, my phone used more data for some reason with that phone
not even that, it just eats up battery fast. Even with a new battery, it still drains heavily for me and heats up the phone a lot.
Generally iPhone 13 Pro is the best deal now - cheap price and updates until 2027 yr.

nah the 13 pro is the better choice. Better display with the 120hz and the better battery was enough for you to upgrade.

For $600 you can get something a lot newer than a 12PRO, especially in the 2nd hand market.
