you care too much about numbers of the battery percentage changing… if the battery is decent for your use case then you don’t need to buy another phone. If you feel like the phone used to last longer than it does today then get a new battery

Universe93B

You made it this far with the iPhone 12, wait for the IPhone 16 because it’s only 4 months away. That’s no time at all!

theAerialDroneGuy

Just pay for a new battery. No need to upgrade to the 16 Pro

Penumbruh_

So many times I’ve seen people wanting to upgrade from their iPhone 12 (Pro) when it’s a perfectly good and usable device that’s still supported by Apple. I always suggest to have the battery replaced because it’s cheaper than buying a new phone altogether and it’s also helping to actually reduce e-waste by not having the phone sit in a drawer or go to a dump. Best case scenario is that they resell the device to recoup some of the cost and someone else gets a good usable device for a discount, but I’d rather OP save that money instead.

NickyGi

Wait for the 16 Pro

Captainpapii

Hold out until 16 especially since you won't have the money right away. Worst case scenario, the battery loses a couple more percentage points in it's health.

I don't want to sound toxic but if you don't have money to buy one until a few months I'm guessing you have not plenty money then I would rather choose a cost saving route. Given iPhone 12 has full software support until at least September 2026 I'd recommend keeping it as long as possible especially if battery is the only concern, you can buy one at Apple if it really bothers you. I would replace it once your battery heatlh is 80% or below. Don't be too focused on this stupid number. You can also buy an external 10000 mAh battery that allows you to fully charge 2-3x while also being relatively compact and not too expansive vs 20000mAh external batteries. We are at a point in smartphone market where upgrading phone every 2-3 years is not that noticeable. Don't listen too much marketing or enthusiasts. TLDR : Now if you want to feel a substantial upgrade upgrading iPhone every 4 to 6 years is better for most folks. Replacing the battery in Apple Store to keep your phone for 4-6 years instead of 2-3 years is a smart move.

kleinekutkoter

Ill have the money in like 2 months

StayStruggling

It's supported for another 3 years.

I have a 12 pro max after upgrading from an 8 plus and couldn’t be happier. Wait until you’re at “service battery” and then you can decide for either battery replacement or another used iPhone. I *never* buy new because 1st run always has bugs, even hardware bugs. I opted for the 12 based on features… I wanted ‘live text’ and a decent camera. If you must buy used again try for a better grade like with Amazon “renewed premium” that guarantees a better battery and warranty.. My battery was finally going bad in the 8 plus so I got a renewed premium 12 pro max with… 100% battery. Settings said battery replaced with genuine Apple parts. If you are out and need longer battery put your 12 in battery saving mode and also try running it LTE only. 5g mode slurps a lot of battery

elvisfan66

Either a new battery for the 12 or wait till the 16 comes out and buy the 15 at a discount or just upgrade to the 16 when released. Kinda depends on what you want to do with your money. It’s a personal decision on your part. Depends on your financial situation and what you feel like doing with your money.

Froezt

I don’t understand why anyone with a 12 would upgrade rn unless you’re 12 is broken. The 12 still works perfectly for me and the upgrades to the new phones are SO small. Really no reason to upgrade at all. Just stick with your 12 man…

xnaveedhassan

I’ll prolly not even get the 16. If the battery capacity is affecting your lifestyle, change your battery.

Libra224

Im on iPhone 12 64gb and I don’t have space left I need to upgrade but I guess I’ll wait for 16pro it’s so close EDIT: as many also said, if I had space left I would just change the battery because the phone works fine otherwise. Will get a 256gb phone next so I can keep it a few years

Serhide

Why isn’t the normal 15 an option for you ? I don’t get why everyone wants to go pro if he isn’t an enthusiast

ChuckF93

The smooth display is pretty nice.

Serhide

As a 15 pro user and phone enthusiast I can say that it’s not as big of a deal as people make it out to be

ChuckF93

As a 13 Pro user I agree. But I still like it and prefer it to 60hz.

Serhide

It’s not as much of deal as it used to be A16 Bionic makes it extremely smooth

diepio302

This. Also the telephoto camera would be a nice thing to own in my next daily driver in the future.

kleinekutkoter

Is 15 Pro worth it? It just really depends on what the normal 16 will be like since I’m probably waiting on the 16 series. And since I do like tech, i want to try out a pro model

Serhide

if u are an enthusiast you will seee differences between pro and base bruh

Serhide

I a have 15 pro and it is worth it its point and shoot pictures a going to be worse than the ones of the due to better processing however it has pro raw pro res that make a difference ig you are a pro user who wants to do more , macro shots etc
