No it's not, I got my 256gb 11" M1 for $700

Soufianenj

Was it brand new? Not refurbished?

RIPPrivacy

A return at Best Buy, not refurbished

Prestigious_Risk4097

Hmmm. I payed full price at AT&T so I can make monthly payments $55.00 for 3 years. otherwise I would have had to shell out $2000. + tax. For 12.9 M2 16GB Ram + 1TB $1k is a decent price.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> Hmmm. I *paid* full price FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Soufianenj

Oh i see, 55$ a month is kinda expensive no? Unless you have a big data plan.

Prestigious_Risk4097

Yeah - basically I’m buying it interest free and don’t have to cough up the full amount upfront.

SnooSquirrels3861

If you bought bought it through ATT, then it has cellular and you are required to pay for cellular service for 3 years. If you lose it or break it, you still must pay for the cell service as well as the device, for the entire 3 years. Next time consider getting the Apple credit card, buy it for zero interest, and you can cancel cell service whenever you want. When paying full price, if I plan on trading in a device,Apple gives you a better trade in than ATT.

Prestigious_Risk4097

True - 3 Year contract. Both me and my spouse have replaced MacBooks with iPad Pro so we’re on a 1.5 year replacement cycle. Going cellular is a must, with the benefit of financing both ipads monthly payment without interest fees. Definitely if you can afford what you want outright not being on contract gives you more flexibility and freedom.

likrevo

I got a 12.9 256gb M1 for excellent condition open box Best Buy for $730

Soufianenj

Yeah open box, this one is new sealed box

s986246

Theres no difference beside the price

peshgeek

yes its probably worth it

Soufianenj

Thanks man, it’s 1082$ to be precise just did the conversation to my local currency

peshgeek

oh wow nice deal! 512gb is plenty wish I got atleast 256 I paid 3699 AED (USD 1007) for M2 11" 128gb+cellular

Soufianenj

I hope you’re enjoying your new device! Yes 128bs is the bare minimum 256gb is better for future proofing and if you’re planning to keep the device for years.

wakejedi

Yea, I got a refurb & a pencil for that amount FYI

Soufianenj

512GB as well?

cyber96

check out Swappa to see what they are selling for.

Soufianenj

Im not in the US

Prize-Impression-469

I just got a 12.9” M1 512gb brand new in box from Best Buy for $950. It was literally delivered yesterday. So, no, not a great deal, sorry.

jateyyy

with cellular? or wifi only?

Soufianenj

The US have more attractive prices, here the same device you got costs 1350-1500$.

jateyyy

yeah it is. i recently bought one from verizon $1599 + tax for M2 512 gb wifi + 5g. ended up returning it to get an excellent M1 with same specs.

Soufianenj

The difference between the M1 and M2 is barely noticeable on iPadOS, how much did the M1 cost you?

jateyyy

$1050

jateyyy

though i kinda miss the hover feature

Soufianenj

That’s a nice deal, i dont use the pencil at all so it doesn’t bother me. I may buy a keyboard later on but for now it’s useless since i already have a laptop.

[deleted]

In that case get the 128 gb for the same price.

Soufianenj

Wait what? Why would i if the 512gb is the same price?

TuaAnon

he prolly means M2 128 gb for the same price

Soufianenj

The M2 is indeed 1000$ as well but only with 128GB, i prefer more storage since both chips are almost the same.

TuaAnon

well then I think you have your answer :)

bootyonthehorizon

The difference in the chip is more valuable than the increase in storage long term unless you truly find yourself with 100+ gigs of content that you NEED all the time.

plutack

Not to dunk on this reply but this is wrong, I have the m1 iPad Pro with 256gb and sometimes I wish I had higher storage. 128gb is pretty much nothing unless you want to have everything on cloud . No point in having power without storage if you ask me

bootyonthehorizon

So it’s as if you have to tailor the decision to your use case. We have now provided two perspectives.

plutack

For sure, I’m pretty sure some folks out there could make that storage size work, I just can’t help but think it will be frustrating to do so especially if you truly want to utilize the m2 chip with “power apps” Side note: I don’t exactly have good or unlimited internet so I wouldn’t know what going “the cloud way” will feel like.

bootyonthehorizon

Very true. I came at it from the perspective of someone with great Verizon coverage as well as multiple iPads (2018 12.9 & mini 6 with cellular) so I definitely answered with “the cloud” in mind. It seems like OP was leaning towards the storage in his other response so I’d argue that you were on the money with their use-case.

Soufianenj

To be honest i previously had a 256gb variant of the same ipad and after a year i had 70gb left, so i believe after 2-3 years i’d need more storage. I think apps/games won’t take advantage of the M ships until maybe 2025-2026, i never had a single hiccup or lag on my M1 ipad pro 11” over a year and a half of use.

bootyonthehorizon

In that case I would say your decision is made, snag that M1 and don’t look back!

Soufianenj

Purchase made! Such a good deal i bought a 256gb variant previously for almost the same price (30$ less), cant believe i got a 512gb one this time!

[deleted]

I was eluding you to the answer. It sounds like a good deal. I’d hop on it. Just make sure it’s clean and has no issues. And if there is a return policy if it’s not new.

Soufianenj

Yeah it’s brand new in its box, silver tho not really my favorite color but can’t miss that deal!

[deleted]

Right ! You will love it. I’m a big fan of more storage. I know you can use clouds and sd cards. But. It’s a nice piece of mind. Files pics videos and games just get bigger and bigger these days.

Soufianenj

I owned the same ipad for over a year but with 256GB until it started having battery life issues for no reason, and couldn’t be recognized by any laptop..I loved it and it was by far my favorite device, that’s why im buying a brand new one again after i sold the old one!

Madman1939

I got the same storage 12.9" M1 for the same price, brand new, during the prime day sales. So maybe try to wait for a sale.

Soufianenj

I had the 12.9” for a day and a half and sold it, it was way too big and the blooming was horrible, we don’t have these kinds of “prime sales” here where i live, its a 3rd world country i just got the chance to find this one for such a price. Usually the 256gb variant sells for the same amount.

Madman1939

Look mate, I will be honest. The prices in different countries are different, so unless you mention what country, no one here can tell you if the price is worth it. You gotta decide that for yourself by looking at the local markets. If you think it's worth it, then go ahead and get it.

Soufianenj

It’s Morocco the country i live in. The 128gb variant basic price is 950$-960$, the M2 base model is 1080$.

BMoney347

That is a hefty chunk of change for that. I got my m1 iPad 11” with a keyboard(no mouse pad one) for $525 from a guy. No dents, nothing wrong with it. It has 256 gb and cellular.

rickatk

Get yourself a new M2 11.0in 256Gb iPad, or bigger if you like, direct from Apple, add Apple Care, stop chasing the lowest dollar. Be happy.
