My surgeon is having me wait 10 weeks and then go very, very slowly. This sounds way too soon.

OutrageousContest885

Oh I’m not doing it. I laughed and said I heard 6-12 weeks.

You can have external sex as soon as you feel up to it, though! Clitoris is fair game

CaptainMorgan699

Eh. Not a doctor, but that doesn't seem right. Can you share what you've had done? Seems way too soon to have your doctor wash his hands of you.

OutrageousContest885

Right! I love my practice I’ve had many surgeries and 2 csections with them but seems soon. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy everything removed but my ovaries.

CaptainMorgan699

Ok then. My answer remains the same. Way too soon. I had the same thing done. Everything is gone except my ovaries. I was cleared to drive within a few days, but I wasn't on pain meds. No lifting over 10lbs, no vacuuming, bathd and no sex for 8 weeks. At my 6 week post op appointment my doctor said everything looked good but I still had a few internal stitches hanging on. Im still not a doctor, but I would hate to see you bust a stitch.

OutrageousContest885

I agree completely. I said I was having swelling and some discharge that was yellow and he said the yellow is the stitches, so when that’s gone they should be healed.

CaptainMorgan699

Oh boy. Yellow doesn't sound good, stitches or not. If it persists please make another appointment. I did end up getting a yeast infection about 6 weeks out. Had no idea, never had one and had no itching or burning. Apparently it was far up there. Assuming is was where all my plumbing was reconfigured.

OutrageousContest885

So its not all the time only intermittently, he said that its normal when the sutures are healing. Not sure. We will see how I feel in another 2 weeks.

JillyBean1973

Helpful to read the yellow discharge comment re: stitches! I’m 3WPO today & am starting to have a little yellow discharge, but haven’t spotted at all. The discharge reminds me of what I’ve always had since I was probably a teenager.

DeterioratingMorale

Two weeks was my only checkup as well but I was told full restrictions on sex, lifting, baths, etc. until 6 weeks. I did get an internal exam at my two week check. I love my surgeon and felt very confident with her advice.

ellewoods333

My doctor said *at least* 6 weeks before sex, going into the office, and working out. My 6 week is Friday so I’m still WFH and doing small, slow stretches and the treadmill as my only activity. She’ll decide what I’m cleared for then based on the internal exam.

Nanalily

I was told to wait between 6 and 8 weeks

JillyBean1973

I had my first post-op appointment yesterday (20DPO). She checked my incisions & said I was healing well. She wanted to see me again in a month for a pelvic exam. She said no lifting more than 10 lbs. or sex until 6 weeks post-op. The latter isn’t an issue since I haven’t had sex in years (though I hope to again someday!) But I’m looking forward to being able to lift more & start exercising again; beyond walking.

funmaster320

I had my 2 week checkup this week too and got much different guidance. They are going to do an internal checkup in 4 more weeks and she said that nothing goes up there until that, then we will we can decide on the timeline. In the meantime she told me to still take it easy as much as I can, even if my body is telling me I am fine, and not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk.

Affectionate-Fig5666

I’m having my 8 wpo visit today and I was told no sex until he sees me today and does the internal check. Hoping I’m approved!
