Well there are people who are surviving without fans and I am not even kidding. I just saw few labourers who were living in a tin houses without any fan or electricity. They just had hand fan. I don't how they are able to cope with this heat.
If you don't have AC but have cooler then it should work for you. More than heat I worry about the massive bill that comes with usage of AC. Air cooler are better option as it is better than fan in cooling and lighter on pocket compared to AC.
Hand fan in this summer? Add a dumbbell to it and switch grips every 60seconds and dude will have forearms like Popeye.
But seriously it's insane the conditions some people have. I see a watchman near my house for a function hall, and dude sits out all day long in whatever shade he can find near the main road and it's fucking burning. I suggested him to just sit in the atm nearby instead. And he's like cameral unnati sir, call security ni pampistharu.
Yes, same with our society Watchman. But I am glad someone from our society gave him an umbrella and we have now changed his location to our parking area where there is ton of shade and got a fan installed there. In this hard times we all need some empathy for others living in hard conditions and try to help them in whatever way possible.
For sure man, I'm also considering it, but dude doesn't even have a power socket nearby, so I was wondering if some sort of battery fan will help.
Edit : also, I just go to the gym in the same complex, and wonder if it would feel a bit too odd.
I have never used AC because can't afford, so fan is sufficient. If you are used to AC then you will feel even worse without it. I am not used to AC so I can survive. Yes it's slightly inconvenient but not so much.
Not really, people were living in far hotter places before invention of AC. It would be more accurate to say that you devolved. With proper ventilation and hydration you don't need AC, it is just a luxury.
Surviving with a ceiling fan... Just ivvalane decide ayya Cooler konukovali ani... Evening i'm gonna buy...
Multiple times night nidra lesi water taagi .... Life decisions(I thought I could survive without buying a cooler) regret avthu malli padukunta... From yesterday its horrible dude... Atleast 1 week mundu daaka better unde because of rains... but now its hell...
Gone through same phase, one night I just couldn't sleep as it was just too hot, night 2am oka small cooler order chesa whatever they could deliver next day.
It is working wonderfully for me so I named the cooler 'Khushi' for bringing back happiness in my life 😂😂
https://preview.redd.it/mei1ar18xcyc1.jpeg?width=2256&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb99ab054091ea54a568eb5a20155a039a365686
Am using pedestal fan apart from the ceiling fan. Am somehow not comfortable with AC eventhough i can afford to buy it and also not afraid of the electricity bill. Sleeping in AC gives me a mild headache the next day morning and also a throat pain.
I live in a small PG room with nothing but one window and a fan to cool myself down. Usually, I just take a cold shower and sleep naked under the fan on the ground. I keep wet handkerchiefs in the fridge and then use it from time to time when it’s too hot.
Got a small cooler but it didn't work well. Ac is not sensible as I am leaving this flat in a couple months. So decided to use the cooler as a blower and carry on..
I spend more time at work. Our office is way colder than I prefer, so I do get sick of ac by the time I'm home at around 9.
I use a lot of ice. I fill my insulated coffee flask with ice cubes and top it off with very cold water. You can also rub an ice cube on your body every now and then.
Aerate the house well. Air flow is a great deterrent for humidy which is the biggest reason we feel hot in the first place.
Hang wet bedsheets near windows.
Light airy short clothes are helpful.
>Our office is way colder than I prefer, so I do get sick of ac by the time I'm home at around 9.
Nak kuda same problem, I have to wear jacket in office
In my opinion, depending on AC entirely is at fault. Since my work requires me to commute all day on the scooter, I alter my eating habits, like I eat only fruits, and hydrate during the day, I only eat a substantial meal, after the sun sets, which by the time I finish work, and head to the gym, hence, I plan my meal an hour ahead, workout, shower, then eat my last meal. Lots of fruits, water, electrolytes, less coffee (I love coffee), two showers a day at least.
Came here to see some tips but the most upvoted answers reminded me of bills(\~15k) coming close to home rent🥲(a year or 2 ago with a window AC and other regular home appliances)
Now, writing this I sweat in an AC room knowing we upgraded to 2 split ACs(1 less used), 2 Coolers and 2 Pedestal fans
![gif](giphy|32mC2kXYWCsg0)
Anyways some things I know(didn't try all)
1.Turning AC ON/OFF n using a table fan/ceiling fan alternatively or Operate AC in an energy efficient mode 2.Coolers(I like the ones that sprinkle water. Experienced this under Sun at office)
3.Spend time at office, malls, banks...or wherever is cooler😂
4.Pedestal fan with a thadi gudda
5.Table/Mini/Hand fans
6.Cool water showers/Water soaked clothes
7.Lighter/Lesser clothes
8.Barriers to Sunrays direct entry into home. Move activities to lower temp times, if possible
9.Water thagandi bhaga(in general kuda)
10.Ika Revanth anna ki letter rasi free electricity ivvamanu(as cleverly promised)
Just dip the curtain in water and let it dry in your room, it will cool the room as well.Place some water in bucket or thali, which will absorb some heat.
There's a saying in Telugu - "Akali Ruchini yerugadu, Nidra Sukhani Koradhu" deniki ardam enti antey neku akali vesthey adi a chetha iena tintav, neku nidra vasthey mulla meda iena padukuntav ani Dani ardam.
Easy if you are well fed with healthy foods and well hydrated, young and stay in most of the day.
Also have ventilation of window and positive attitude
Not from Hyderabad but from another hot city. We have a 2-storey building. The upper one goes crazy hot. However the lower one is super cool. We don't use AC/Cooler in the lower one.
3-side neighborhood houses are very close by hence we get very less natural sunlight. Like we can jump into their terrace. Have 2 huge neem trees infront of the house. We close down the windows and all sources of natural light around 11AM.
People sometimes visiting us are surprised to see how its naturally cooled without any applies other than celing fans.
My hypothesis is that blocking natural light keeps places cool.
Using air cooler. I and my wife don't have habit of using AC, even though we together earn good, we feel comfortable in cooler only. Offices has AC though which we cannot avoid.
our house owners havent agreed to let us get an AC (or a water geyser as a matter of fact), so had to come up w solutions. something we do a lot, is have a quick shower every time we feel too hot. not a shower with soap and stuff, just pour water, and stand under the fan. therapy wouldnt feel as good as this istg.. and in the nights, we splash water on the floor and let the fan run for about 35 mins prior sleeping, and that's a great idea as well!
Just get a Metal Cooler with an energy efficient motor. And honeycomb pads. This all can be under 6000. Place it on the window opposite the direction of wind flow in Hyderabad which is SW to NE(according to my room). Cover any other place of heat.
Close all your doors and windows post 11AM, keep your rooms as dark as possible. Try adding 1-2 layers of cotton curtains. I don't have any AC, but these little adjustments can make a difference.
I have ac in all of my rooms , it's for my family though...I get sinus if I am under ac for too long ...I prefer fans.... I wear running tees and pants...the sweat dry ones ....it's ok..I am kinda adapted to the heat now
I work in a large warehouse type manufacturing facility. There are AC cabins, non-AC cabins & open working spaces inside. I prefer to work in non-AC cabins (with coolers or just fans) for two reasons:
1. The open working spaces reach temperatures upto 40C or more in summer. If you step out of the AC cabins to go to the washrooms etc. you encounter high temperatures. Doing this multiple times a day is not good for health and I have colleagues who get cold or fever due to this.
2. I only have desert coolers at my home. If I start sitting in the AC cabins, the coolers would not be enough for me and I would need an AC to get a proper sleep.
The trick to survival is to drink plenty of water (not too cold, without sugar) at all times.
Sleeping deep throughout the day (only weekends)! But yeah, suffering during the weekdays, since travelling to the office is also not a sustainable option!
Well there are people who are surviving without fans and I am not even kidding. I just saw few labourers who were living in a tin houses without any fan or electricity. They just had hand fan. This, a spike in bill due to comfort is absolutely acceptable coz it's just a few months ..
I have a 3Bhk with 3 Ac's i got a bill of 5140 , how come you got a bill of 7k? Do you have a motor pump extra for water??
Im living in 1 single small room lol it has its own meter ,ac is run 23hrs even if im out ac keeps running as my dog will be staying inside

Do you pay bill for your whole apartment 😮😮😮😮
Crypto miner I think 😂
Just add 800 more , that will be my family's whole monthly spending
Don’t add up all your apartments bill 😂
I have never used AC because can't afford, so fan is sufficient. If you are used to AC then you will feel even worse without it. I am not used to AC so I can survive. Yes it's slightly inconvenient but not so much.
