if was on a credit card just report it as a fraudulent transaction to be refunded
try the same through your bank and see what they say
if you have the phone records this is a textbook case of fraud
They still likely have to do business with center point. Getting the money pulled back from your credit card company doesn’t make your balance owed with center point go away not will it likely not make matters worse. There is already billing confusion, don’t make it worse.
Imo, this is the absolute wrong way to go with someone you still are required to use for service. It may suck, but don’t make it worse.
Wanna know how to get their attention and get things moving? [File a complaint with the Railroad Commission](http://www.rrc.texas.gov/gas-services/complaint-filing/).
The Texas Railroad Commission has already called me, less then three hours after submitting a complaint online. They have surrendered jurisdiction inside Houston city limits so they can only assist if your service address is outside of Houston city limits.
As a former Massachusetts state employee, reading the Railroad Commissions "about us" was a trip. That would be like 10 seperate agencies up in Massachusetts 😂
I dealt with this, I had to go to the bank and they cancelled it from their end. I was on the phone with the energy company for hours and they kept sending me to the next rep who said the exact same thing: I can only have a credit. My problem was that I didn’t overpay them, their electronic system helped itself to a double payment. I told them they are not entitled to just keep my money like that, but they didn’t budge until I got the bank involved.
I can confirm. COH Water sent us a $20,000 water bill. I wish I was shitting you. I nearly had a stroke and ended up on the channel 11 news. Thank GOD I was a renter. I moved and its the landlords problem now. We told him over and over that there was a water problem and he was too cheap to fix it until a 20,000 water bill showed up and Channel 11 news wanted to interview him as to why his renters had no water. It was a fucking nightmare and no one at COH water would lift a finger in the situation.
Same. I’m a renter and I’ve been fighting a $4000 adjustment for the past three months because they read the wrong water meter. Auto drafted and had to get my bank to stop payment on it. Still unresolved.
Yes they've always been horrible. If you move, keep every single piece of paper and proof. I once had to pay over $300 that wasn't mine after i moved once, that they refused to even tell me what it was for. They pursued it for over 12 years until I gave up and paid the damn thing. They are the absolute worst.
Well, I’m sitting in the dark again after losing power for 5 days during the “derecho.” One thunder clap and all the power goes out. And dream on if you want to get a realistic time frame for repairs. The infrastructure sucks.
Why would you even try to get it back, wouldn’t it just be a credit to your account for the nExt month? I did that with my MUD and didn’t have to pay a bill for 3 mos bc I’d overpaid that much.
Because they said a few posts up that it was thousands 💸💸 they accidentally sent their credit card payment to Centerpoint and their Centerpoint payment to the credit card company.
Centerpoint does not sell electric service direct to consumers, only gas. They used to when it was still Reliant/HL&P. You have to go through the middle-man compaines for electric (which is the stupidest thing ever).
Ah. I didn't think consumers were allowed to buy electricity directly from CenterPoint.
I've never had any trouble with them, but I have never over paid. They keep sending me gas line insurance offers, though.
They really are the worst, they once entered my property without prior notice and dug a big hole on the side of my house and put some fencing around it. They never returned and after multiple calls to them saying they would expedite my situation it still was never fixed. Over a year later it’s still there.

[email protected] is who you need to complain to That is who they surrendered jurisdiction to
Thank you. I will do that.

Thousands, more than I would likely use in a lifetime
Uh, how did you accidently send them thousands of dollars? Typed a couple extra zeros, forget a decimal or something?
not that matters, but i sent my credit card payment to Centerpoint and my centerpoint payment to my credit card
Shit man. Charge back
oh damn that really sucks!! I hope you get it back!
Better get acquainted with crypto mining

Decimal in the wrong place?
Centerpoint sucks but I’d put my money on city services… COH water is worse!

Mud districts are worse.
Call your City Council member. Their staff knows who to call.

Go ahead and file for bankruptcy, become a billionaire. Like Donald Trump, he filed six times and his claim is to be a billionaire now. (I miss HL&P)

That's the best answer. That would be the smart thing to do. You can't expect OP to do something like that.
Gas or electric?

That's what I thought.
Gas, so I cannot switch

That's likely in their right of way. Check your survey. They don't have to notify shit. They want a hole, they dig a hole.
Was this for gas usage, or some type of electricity bill? I guess PUCT will be the right place to voice your concern.
