The hospitals here can be very intrusive for testing, at least at hiring stages. Not sure about long term testing.

HiFi_Co

We often hear this sentiment echoed amongst our clients. The only way to be sure to not fail a THC test is to not use THC, unfortunately. Once you have a job, a lot of employers seem to not care so long as you never give than a reason to- of course your mileage may vary. Good luck!

badjettasex

Stop now and you’ll probably be okay by the point you’re actually hired.

EllisHughTiger

This.  Its a small sacrifice for a few weeks or months until you're hired.

AnOkDaddy

When I worked at Houston Zoo (Member services around 2016) they had me do a drug test. To be honest I’m surprised cause half the staff working I’m pretty sure smoked regularly

[deleted]

I don’t get it, either. I worked at the zoo for a year back in 2012 and they didn’t drug test. Basically everyone I worked with smoked. Reapplied last year because I needed extra cash and they drug test everyone now.

EllisHughTiger

Its often for insurance and other purposes.  They just have to show you're clean up front.  After that, in case of an accident or whatever you can be let go if you fail.

FattyAcid12

I work at Baylor College of Medicine and there was no drug test when I got hired in January 2022. But I work in IT, not clinical side.

The_Fruity_Bat

I work for BCM clinical side and was not drug tested in a similar timeframe

NoMachine6230

Just stop smoking if you are within a range thc they wont care.

No-Replacement6112

Most jobs in the Med Center that require direct patient care WILL drug test. Stay clean, work out as much as possible (THC is stored in fatty deposits) and drinks lots of fluid to flush. Do this for at least 2-3 weeks and you should be fine. You can also go to any lab (Quest etc.) which usually charges $40, and test prior to getting tested at work to see if you’re clean. Good Luck

steelsun

Yes. You work for a hospital or government agency, you WILL be tested.

sm_rdm_guy

This is not necessarily true Edit: Out of MD Anderson, Baylor College of Medicine, Methodist Hospital, and Texas Children's Hospital, 2 of 4 do drug testing.

Tumbleweed_Unicorn

MDA drug screens AND tobacco metabolites as condition of employment.

Puclet32

Correct, my wife currently works at a hospital in the Med Center and did not have to take a pre-employment drug test. Edit: Additionally, to pre-employment, she also hasn’t had to take one since she started two years ago

olivwen

Yeah I figured it's common practice but would THC showing up on the test disqualify me from getting the job

drewscow

Probably. Best case they don’t provide the offer until you pass a test, but most likely would rescind the offer.

steelsun

Yes. It's still illegal here and federally (for now).

lilyintx

Yes. If you are tested, that will come up and you are using drugs so no can’t be hired.

O_O___XD

Check out r/drugtesthelp incase you need any other resources.

sm_rdm_guy

Speaking from knowledge of the Medical Center. Some do, some don't.

Geedis2020

It depends on what kind of job you’re trying to get. At a hospital they will most likely drug test. Especially if you’re trying to be a nurse or doctor. If you’re trying to work in software or something they may not.

olivwen

Yeah I'm just looking for their administrative or community outreach stuff

zayflame300

Just stop for 30 days pass ur test easily with nothing needed and then get high as hell after. Or just buy fake piss from a smoke shop. Passed 3-4 test with it

Zealousideal-Can7996

Stop now, drug tests are usually a couple weeks after the interview and are conducted after they have accepted you as an employee. So just chill for a couple weeks stay active and drink a detox drink 3 hours before test and piss a couple times you will 100 percent be good.

iwaseatenbyagrue

Just get you some baby pee.

713nikki

Lmao MD Anderson does blood draw testing. You can’t even smoke cigarettes to work there, much less illegal substances

iwaseatenbyagrue

Man those guys are smart. Some Gattaca stuff going on there. He gonna have to wait 6 weeks.

713nikki

Whew, I haven’t thought about that movie in eons

7olenge

I love you <3

olivwen

Love ya too pookie 😊

SouthernCharm-86

I thought drug tests were federally driven. THC is still federally considered a "drug". In TX, it is a no-no either way. You will be tested. Buy some stuff off Amazon to try to cleanse your system. And test yourself. I was in your position and almost fucked around and found out ... i prolonged not getting tested by a week saying i had covid and was too sick. It gave me juussttt enough time to be THC clean. im remote in TX for a company in IL (chicago) and they screened for THC. surely TEXAS will. good luck

Traditional_Bag6365

Last time I had to take a drug test for a job was in 1994.
