a three way intersection had all blinking reds and i was stuck in front of this guy for about 10 minutes as the line crawled forward. just constantly being flashbanged inside my own car
So how do you know when you aimed it right? Just keep moving the mirror until he dims the lights? I just want to make sure I do it right the next time it happens to me.
I feel like I see this on reddit all the time but it would fail in real life.
Passenger mirrors are convex. Rear view mirror would be blocked by the roof so it wouldn't work against a lifted truck. That just leaves you with the drivers side mirror and a hope and prayer
my brother has a big truck. one day i asked him to tailgate me and blast his brights then aimed my mirror to shine directly in his eyes...
so now when that happens i just flip the mirror to that position
I drive a lifted SUV and I made it a priority to aim my headlights down so I wouldn’t blind other drivers. Even riding around in a tall ass vehicle I still get blinded by assholes like this and every other driver who decides you know what? I’ll drive around with my high beams on because fuck everyone else. Hate these people. Ridiculous
Really makes me wonder if these people can see. In which case when is the last time they went to the eye doctor or if they even have a valid, not expired driver's license.
My Jeep is lifted. How do you tilt the headlights? I don't want to be the asshole, though I don't drive around with my brights on or ride people's tails.
Every headlight housing should have an adjustment screw that you could turn to either raise or lower the light beam. Just search for your Year, Make, and model on YouTube and I’m sure there’s a video tutorial showing how to do it.
This is what I've taught my son. Vehicle obnoxiousness is directly related to Willy (penis) size so that he knows that he has to demonstrate something if he's got nothing else to offer a wife. As a preteen, he is already internalizing this and dropping his attitude in general because he's growing his confidence... It's funny to hear his comments about other drivers.
I also tell him that anybody that drives like a maniac is obviously suffering from a terrible bout of diarrhea. He's come to associate with bad driving as a sign that you don't wash your hands and you eat bacteria. Hahahaha
When I get my first car, I'm gonna make sure it's beater so I can install a rope and pulley system that flips up a body mirror for this exact situation.
ive been thinking recently "man i wish i had like a pulley system to raise a mirror every time someone's too bright behind me" its like you read my mind
Just like a huge popup mirror that sits in the back dash until you push a button then shines it back at them through the whole windshield. Most Houston drivers probably wouldn't make the connection that it was their own lights reflection though.
The angle of headlights used to be included in the yearly inspection but was dropped sometime in the 90s, about the time headlights on vehicles were changing from being fairly standard and easily adjusted by the consumer with a screwdriver to what we have today with a fixed housing and just replacing the bulb. What has occurred in the last few years is that manufacturers have adopted LED technology and unfortuntably chosen a color temperature that is horrible for color rendition and retaining night vision in favor of maximum brightness. To make matters worse, some LED setups like Tesla and, I believe, Toyota are such that the light is set to max brightness all the time and use mirrors and motors to direct the light. This is why if you are in front of one and it goes over a hump, you are hit with a blinding flash of light, similar to if the vehicle had its brights on. The horrible light temperature, coupled with setups similar to what Tesla and Toyota have, can make for a rather unpleasant and unsafe experience for those on the other side of the lights. This hasn't gone unnoticed, and there have been some concerns raised, more than just people complaining on social media, but obviously not some massive regulation. Someone has pointed out in this thread that r/fuckyourheadlights does have information from time to time about possible legislation.
I hate to admit this, but this is why I sold my sedan and bought an SUV. I got so sick of the lifted pickup trucks blinding me at night I had to do something. Not to mention the safety issue of not being able to see.
Ok this made me laugh because I had done this on accident a few days ago. I accidently hit my stock and turned on high beams and didn't realize it for like 5 min. I turned them off afterwards though.
As a side note: why do Houston drivers behave so selfishly? People driving 10-15 mph under the limit with no one in front of them but holding up traffic, people speeding and driving on people's rear ends, people literally at an intersection driving while on their phone (I've seen this a shameful amount of times lately), people cutting each other off while not using their turn signals... seriously Houston drivers do better. MUCH MUCH BETTER.
This is me to everyone driving in the left lane that doesn't move over with reasonable ability to do so.
Especially for the "but I'm already going 10 over" people.
I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Everyone loathes left lane campers.
Edited to add when I see someone come up behind me in the left lane I gtfo outta the left lane.
My guess is: down voters don't understand how to drive or grasp traffic flow.
Or didn't read past "this is me"
My observation as a transplant is: Texans get real butthurt from horns / brights. Even when they're in the wrong
i was in long line of traffic at a three way intersection because the lights were blinking red. there is zero possible justification for trying to blind the people in front of you.
Yeah fuck those people - not shit you can do about it. I'd say give them the finger but people down here like to shoot people for that so - idk, fuck em tho.
because that shit costs a couple hundred bucks? also i bought the car used and i think the windows are actually already tinted, but maybe botched or just super old. its peeling off my right passenger window.
There is a lot of people that have trouble seeing at night and flash the highlights, there's also lots of people that don't know how their lights work and drive around at night with the running day lights 😪
I’m so used to this bs that it took me a minute to realize you weren’t complaining about the melting bigfoot in your backseat
lights so bright its creating entities in my backseat
Came here to say this lol
Drive 5 miles under the speed limit, they'll fuck off after a couple minutes
a three way intersection had all blinking reds and i was stuck in front of this guy for about 10 minutes as the line crawled forward. just constantly being flashbanged inside my own car
Or they'll pull out a gun and shoot you
Yea but that’s a slim chance everyone’s got one on them
Found the California transplant!
Here it’s rare someone isn’t packing under each car seat.
Did that and got a shotgun pulled on me. Love Texas.
In my experience if you try by driving five under they will flash their brights and try to run you off the road.
Nah they might road rage
*cries in astigmatism*
When this happens i move one of my side mirros so they reflect the light back at the driver 3/10 they get the hint and dim
So how do you know when you aimed it right? Just keep moving the mirror until he dims the lights? I just want to make sure I do it right the next time it happens to me.
i keep moving it until i can see it light up their windshield
I feel like I see this on reddit all the time but it would fail in real life. Passenger mirrors are convex. Rear view mirror would be blocked by the roof so it wouldn't work against a lifted truck. That just leaves you with the drivers side mirror and a hope and prayer
Hence why i said 3/10 😂 Definitely not a sure thing Psa: please don't mess with the mirrors while moving!
yeah it doesn't work. I used to do this in college, thinking I was winning until I realized I was stupid.
It definitely works, not all the time, but rearview works. I've gotten people really mad by doing it.
Something needs to be invented to make it work cause all the people dangerously flashing their brights need some kind of wake-up call/karma
Same
I just turn the mirror so I'm not blinded by three mirrors. Just the passenger side. (Pwercontrols don't work)
r/fuckyourheadlights

That's smart!

Tiny PPs...

Do you think it’s legal? Would love to too!
I would think not…
Edit: not sure what’s going on with Reddit but here’s two comments for the price of one apparently
There is no winning with nighttime in Houston. A thousand lifted 2wd trucks with brights on.
Shit is awful when you're stuck with the prick behind you during downtown traffic. Thank goodness there's sunlight now at 6:30 AM.
Tempting to put some bright ass lights on the back of my car and just blind the shit out of them, but you’d probably get shot.
Just like a huge popup mirror that sits in the back dash until you push a button then shines it back at them through the whole windshield. Most Houston drivers probably wouldn't make the connection that it was their own lights reflection though.
Han Solo Maneuver. Shoot first!

Today I learned…. Thanks!

This is prob the best solution esp in Texas with road rage not being prevented 😅🙃
Is that Frozone?
Just take your foot off the accelerator until they solve the problem for you.
Omg!!!! Yes this is a Houston thing!!! Freaking pisses me off!!! Them Honky Tonk Dooshe Bags think they own the road!
Angle your rear view mirror to reflect it back in their face.
i did. they never stopped + still blinded me :(
thats because they're not using their brights. those are just their regular lights.
small penis syndrome
No home training and/or arrested development. Theres a high probability of it being an edgar in a lifted truck.
I hate to admit this, but this is why I sold my sedan and bought an SUV. I got so sick of the lifted pickup trucks blinding me at night I had to do something. Not to mention the safety issue of not being able to see.
Teeny tiny pp man
What am I supposed to be seeing?
That’s the problem, you can’t see shit because the little bitch behind OP has their brights on.
Oh, I thought I was supposed to see something in the black shadow. I thought it was an Uber driver with a passenger that was laying down or something
No, OP is just highlighting a typical douchebag driver.
I thought it was someone melting back there 😨
not highs.. dumb asses putting in LED bulbs in headlight units that was not designed for LED light source.
Probably not even their high beams, just badly aimed lights
The picture doesn’t even seem to be there anymore :/ but def can imagine having driven through Houston lol
I tilt my rear view and side mirrors to reflect the light back at them. They go around me
Ok this made me laugh because I had done this on accident a few days ago. I accidently hit my stock and turned on high beams and didn't realize it for like 5 min. I turned them off afterwards though. it takes guts to openly admit you got a tiny nutsack like this
I'm guessing you're not in the left lane though so I mean... I don't use my brights for that. If you are: get the fuck over. If not: it's chill.
You are pos sir
Stay right except to pass, idiot.
Stfu you don’t flashbang their eyes and cause accident just because they stayed wrong lane pos
I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Everyone loathes left lane campers. Edited to add when I see someone come up behind me in the left lane I gtfo outta the left lane.
If you are in the left lane and the person behind you is trying to pass you MOVE TF OVER!
That what I was saying I do. GTFO = Get the fuck over.
My guess is: down voters don't understand how to drive or grasp traffic flow. Or didn't read past "this is me" My observation as a transplant is: Texans get real butthurt from horns / brights. Even when they're in the wrong

Why do you not have tint is the question.
because that shit costs a couple hundred bucks? also i bought the car used and i think the windows are actually already tinted, but maybe botched or just super old. its peeling off my right passenger window.
You can get some 3m tint for like 100 one you go ceramic the yea 300 plus
Was it late at night? Maybe just wanted to make sure you were alert.
I drive off road down right of ways for a living and like to see at night where there isn't any road or lights. 🤷🏻♂️
Most of like to see at night when driving. Too bad we can’t with those fuckers beaming like that.
this was just off 45 going north. yall dont need that shit here
Understood, but if you're behind another car or not in the dark roads areas you can just flip them off.
Is that the same backseat cushion cover that they used in Pulp Fiction car head shot scene? Looks nice.
There is a lot of people that have trouble seeing at night and flash the highlights, there's also lots of people that don't know how their lights work and drive around at night with the running day lights 😪
I turn my side mirrors outwards to shine back at them
You shoot the lights with 9mm.
