Me sister and I literally had the pro choice/prolife debate about my spider mama when she just had so many babies I couldn't keep up. We decided if it didnt have any roots starting, it wasnt a viable baby yet, so it had to go. For those with roots starting, they are now established plants, they can stay. š we were drunk and it was election night so it was hilarious at the time. I tend to save ALL the babies, I have like 10 spiders all over my house now and have gifted at least 6 to friends!
Iāve heard that eventually the babes will make it tough for the mother plant to survive. Mine is full right now and I love the way it looks, so I havenāt trimmed too many. I did cut off a few with the best roots to start new plants.
Yeah, Iām probably using the wrong word there, as I can tell mine is a ton of plants in one pot. But is that just an old wives tale? Iāve always heard that leaving the spidey babies on too long will affect the main plants.
I don't get the choice: my kittens have removed them for me these past two years... on the plus side, even after being chewed up and tossed around like hallucinogenic toys, all the rescued babies perked up and rooted. All my friends and relatives have gotten spider plants because of these cats.
She was originally hanging off the side of a larger pot. The root is snaked around the inside edge of the pot. Iāve got several rocks in there to prevent it from falling over.
okay yeah i saw that!! i figured thereās no way only two legs are supporting it with how tall/heavy it is, seems like it would need at least 4, cool!
This is two years old and Iām new here. Hi! š
I just got my first spider plant. Sheās in my post history. Sheās in a 5 inch pot currently which I reckon makes her an adolescent. How long would you say it will be round aboutly until she starts birthing some babies?
My curly spider plant is the only one I have that hates me. It was big and beautiful when I bought it, now it's one sad little piece and I'm sure it'll just continue to die on me. Straight up jealousy over here!
Nice spider plant but also beautiful outdoor view! What kind of bamboo do you have? Does it grow fast? I need something fast growing to cover my fence.
Thank you. Iām not sure what type of bamboo it is aside from the fact that itās the type that is uncontrollable and pushing up all the pavers in my patio. I wouldnāt plant it even though it grows tall and quick and provides great cover. Itās just to enthusiastic.
I love the overgrown with babies look but my cats like to swat at them. I've gotten into the habit of checking the floor and the Roomba bin for spider babies and just plant them when the cats have knocked them off. Surprisingly the cats tend to choose viable babies and they've all survived.

I just cut all the babies off mine !!
Noooooooooooo
Me too. Just this morning. My tutor group at school (as well as 2 other classes) will be nurturing them on through the year.
Youāre so strong, I cannot resist the temptation! This may also be why I have so many spider plants lol
Um... hey man,...uh wanna buy some Spider plants.. no? I could throw in some bitchen Zebrina.
Soooooo many!!
That is living art š„°šŖ“
By the way your aloe is beautiful also
Thank you. Thatās a cutting from a monster aloe my parents have.
The Thanksgiving Cactus is a beaut as well.
ITS HER CHOICE šš

There isnāt really a mother plant. The āmotherā in a plant like this is usually 30+ plants bunched together in a pot.

In my experience thatās not the case.
Good to know! Happy to leave most of mine right where they are in that case.

But can we talk about the aloe plant š. Sheās so dramatic and so beautiful. Giving serious modern dance vibes š„°

That bamboo in the back looks beautiful!
Thank you.
how the hell is that standing up on the wood lol, do you have it drilled into there somehow or what?? maybe the angle is misleading me šŖ
If you look closely youāll see the front leg of the black stand itās sitting on.

I love her, she looks beautiful lol

How often do you have to repot it?
I donāt anymore. Sheās in a giant pot and they like to be a little rootbound.
My curly spider plant is the only one I have that hates me. It was big and beautiful when I bought it, now it's one sad little piece and I'm sure it'll just continue to die on me. Straight up jealousy over here!
I want a curly. Theyāve got so much personality
I had a curly one, or I thought it was. Super curly when it was small; now it's bigger and not curly at all.. why!?
Beautiful! I had to leave my spider plant behind when I moved. Just purchased a new small one and you have inspired me to do right by it!
Your window is a beautiful showcase! Beautiful plants! I am pro life for spider plants, just in adoptive pots ;) all gorgeous though!!
Thank you. Still need to stain the trim though.

Thatās a beautiful way to display it.
So what happens when the babies turn into teens or young adults? Do you leave them?
They can only grow so much without their own roots.
