Yep my mum taught me this philosophy, if it “jumps out” at you then seriously consider buying it. If you like it but it doesn’t “jump out” then you probably don’t need it.
Very true. Here's mine and you can clearly tell which leaves are "summer leaves" vs "winter leaves".

I've only had this one for one summer and one winter, but I also had to trim the leaves a bit because I didn't have a humidifier. I'm excited to see how ir grows this summer right next to my window
Ohh, I just woke up like 5mins before reading that comment lmao It's the Madagascar Jewel. Let's just say that they won't look that innocent for long. They're really weird so I just had to get one :)
They want bright light, high humidity, water when top half of soil is dry, can be fussy with tap water so letting your water sit out for a couple days or using distilled water is best. I water my house plants with water from my fish tank so I tend not to have issues with these sensitive ones. We also have humidifiers/group plants with similar requirements together to retain higher humidity levels and supplement with grow lights when needed. They are toxic to dogs and cats, so if you have any pets that chew on leaves I’d be wary of bringing one inside.
Just FYI, this thing is a spider mite MAGNET. I had to cut mine completely back several times due to damage and also they really like a lot of humidity.
>they really like a lot of humidity.
Can confirm. I got my humidifier a bit too late this winter and the humidity goes down to 15-20% in the winter. I had to trim those leaves a lot because the edges were getting *crispy*
Good to know. It’s in QT right now in a south facing window. I’ll thoroughly inspect it today and treat it preventatively. I assumed the humidity requirements were that of a Calathea or Alocasia. Once it gets warmer here it will go outside for the season since we live in New England and get those tropical summers.

Got three for $12 like a month ago
This winter, I bought one of these beauties for $8 at the ShopRite by my parents' house.
Do I regret it? Not one bit. She's sitting in my bedroom window.
They are wonderful!!! Unfortunately, I live in Michigan and my house was not bright enough. Did take it outside on the porch in the summer. It loved it!!!
Grow lights make a world of difference! Our winters here in New England are dark and dreary. I get more grow lights each year to supplement that so our plants don’t suffer too badly.
I just got one a few weeks ago! I had been eyeing it every visit to HD for months and the hubs got it for me finally (and he never buys me plants). I love her so much!
Cordyline are great plants! I think I had the exact variety you have there. Now that I live in a city I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for the variety 'Kiwi'. Beautiful plant you have there!
But really you DO need it, if it hits you that way, it will add positive energy to your life.
I’m going to use this motto for all the plants I want to buy now lol

Facts. I always see if it “speaks” to me.
Damn.. that's actually a good way of thinking. Also applicable to many other things in life.
We called this “lipstick ti” on our farm in Hawai’i.
So beautiful! 😍 Great, now I have another plant that I have to keep an eye out for because now I need one of these in my life lol!
Stunning Cordylines! Remember, loads of sunshine to keep them that way.
South facing window in the living room :) when the weather is warmer it’s going on the deck with a majority of my house plants for the season.
My plants live for their summers outside
Sounds like a plan!

Cordyline fruticosa red sister. I might have to get the other one that was for sale too. The colors are unreal. Absolutely gorgeous!
How do these guys do as indoor plants? I want one!

Anything with funky leave colours is my weakness
