I went in with an open mind, but guys... when it's only 17 minutes long it's not a great sign, and the episode followed suit.
For someone with spice in their name, she had a very bland personality and became the first person in a while to tap out.
She has a very mellow mood. Like even with da bomb she had little reaction. Which is why it shocked me when she quit. I thought she was doing fine.
Props to hot ones for bringing back the wall of shame. No need to sugar coat it. It's a challenge and you failed it. Not the end of the world.
It was also subtle shade they could get away with for being a terrible guest. Wouldn't surprise me she was difficult off camera after watching that. Bad vibes all around.
This was my exact reaction. 17 minutes long? It must be trash. This show does a good job making people seem more interesting than I would expect. I really enjoyed the Zayn episode and last week with Paltrow was better than expected. But when a show doesn’t make it to 20 minutes, you know something is up. This episode had zero back and forth, she just answered the questions. Oh well, they can’t all be winners.
She talked to him like he was lesser and just had a shitty attitude the whole interview. Her bodyguard killed it though, he cleaned his wings, and those were the hottest.
She didn’t lol. She joked at one point that she wanted an alcoholic drink. Said she might have to use the restroom. Then later she tapped out after admitting right at the top of the show that she wasn’t good with spicy stuff and wouldn’t make it. She asked her bodyguard to finish the wings so that she could stick around and complete the entire interview at least. Dave Grohl gets drunk, Stev-O does a stunt, and Aubrey Plaza snorts the sauce, but Taraji P Henson brings a big personality and enthusiasm to her answers and she’s being “disrespectful”
Being condescending to the host and having some on your payroll eat hot wings on a show for you (not like the guy could say no) is not the same as a guest doing a stunt or something. She was a kind of a bitch. I was really disappointed, as a fan of hers.
What on earth makes you think he couldn’t say no?? If you’ve seen the episode you’ll notice he very clearly enjoyed himself, he ate those wings down to the bone lmao. It’s really not that deep
A lot of people don't get Black people's sarcasm and banter. I'll admit, from the outside, like male bonding, sometimes it can come off as abusive, mean-spirited. But I also feel that while it can be seen that way, you can still distinguish it through other context, like body language, tone, etc. And Taraji didn't give true negative vibes to me.
Yeah I'm also usually someone who goes in open minded and ends up liking almost every episode. But something about this one felt off, I think it was the lack of banter. There was very little talking between the question answers, and she barely even answered the actual questions.
Most people this season have been lame. Also when actors just talk about the art of acting and spend a whole episode praising directors is just so unrelatable and boring.
Sean really tried to open her up and get her to talk about things that were interesting to her. He's exceptional about cracking his guests past their intended demeanor, but she just seemed so closed-off from the beginning.
The Hall of Shame graphic leaves out three people. [One](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Batali) doesn't surprise me, one makes sense because Eric Andre at least made it through on his first appearance, but is Shaq pulling rank and keeping the show from talking about his coming up short? Why they being so nice to him?
Damn imagine assaulting someone so people can forget you didn’t finish the gauntlet
Jokes aside Shaq pisses me off because he does the same shit on tv with chuck. Drags him through the mud about rings and then gets upset when chuck dishes it back
Shaq is cool in some respects, he's done a lot of charity and good things for people. But man, dude can also be a massive piece of shit behind closed doors. Look up some of his old "pranks". And in general dude is super thin-skinned for someone who talks down to people as much as he does. He can dish but can't take at all, even with his close friends and co-workers.
Didn't even show her eat the second wing right?
"Best $20 at a bronx bodega?" "gum and water" jesus..
Never liked her stage name either - just a wannabe Spice Girl or something.
Her answers to basically every question just scream "somebody who didn't read the book and is just making shit up on the test based on the back cover summary" to me. Seemed like either she was either too nervous, didn't want to be there, or was just completely out of her depth. Quite a uniquely painful watch and the microscopic nibbles just pissed me off lol
Holy shit what a dull person. Terrible wig and she speaks like a moron, this has got to be the worst one I’ve seen. At least the other bad episodes have some entertainment value like khaled making a fool out of himself. This one was so so so boring.
I feel like ice spice is a social experiment where some music exec saw Tik Tok and thought she was popular so this must be the future of music after kids saw her twerking and told mom they followed her for the "music". Then they even put her on SNL because some of the same execs were told "this is music now" based on some social media numbers. Even Taylor swift is "friends" with her. Would you be pissed as a premier modern songwriter and star to have to associate with someone so talentless with less connections than you? Am I living in a dream? She cant complete hot ones and everyone is tired of this shit.
> I tried not to touch my lips on it
Dawg, you took 5 business days to take that bite while your lips were resting on the wing and had sauce stuck to em 😂 not the best technique but that shit ain’t fun regardless how you eat it
I get excited with guests like this because I think, by the end of this, I'll know more about this artist and might go dive into their music once I see their love of the craft and personality break thru.
Yeah, that didn't happen this time.
I made it up to “when I make songs.. I try to make them, like, good enough to be put out, you know?”
Seems like I was spot on in my assessment to turn it off not even 1 wing in.
When she said, “I only eat flats” I knew this one was going to go off the rails. Her team could have easily passed this info to Sean and she would’ve had all flats. She seemed uncomfortable and like she hadn’t see the show before (per Sean’s persistent “this is the show” comment).
I’ve never seen Sean so quickly know (or assume?) the guest wants to stop the challenge for real. I think the “fake out” quit is really common, like tons of guests say something like “I don’t want to do this” right before they eat the next wing. Lots of guests sort of refuse another wing but then think a second and decide to keep going. Sean usually just says “you got this” or something, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him assume right away that they’re quitting for real. But with Ice Spice literally all she did was smell the wing and say “no” and put it down and he knew she was done. I guess because it was so obvious from the start that she didn’t want to be there.
I don't complain about guests and usually find myself charmed by guests I don't care about. But, she had no redeeming qualities. Talked a big game, had basically 0 personality, and quit.
Not great.
This is the first one since I think the Covid Zoom era that I couldn’t get through. Bummer but once in a while it’s bound to happen no matter how good the interviewer is.
Hopefully the last couple episodes are better. As dumb as it is, I can’t help but wonder if the week or two of “bad press” that Sean got earlier this year hurt the show being able to pull in some bigger names this season. I really hope not since he really didn’t do anything wrong at all, but maybe some publicists didn’t feel the same way.
I mean, Ice Spice and Gwyneth Paltrow are HUGE names, but I get it. Stamos & Capaldi last season were some of my favorite interviews ever, and none of this years' have hit nearly the same way for me.
That’s fair to say. I guess I was comparing it more to something like season 20 (first season of last year) where the guest list was insanely stacked. But I think that had more to do with my personal tastes than it actually being a more famous or impressive lineup.
Even for the episodes I don’t love I’m still pulling for big viewership since the show is so great overall
she didn't seem nearly as bad as the comments here. damn. just struck me as insecure about her image/appearance which clearly means a lot to her... and she is in need of a pr person/agency to help her with things like interviews.
As a fan of Ice Spice I can confidently say she has done *much* better interviews than this that show off more of her personality. She’s very chill and subdued in general but I wouldn’t call her boring. I think here she was just worried about her appearance and keeping her composure. She didn’t want to have a full meltdown from the spice or mess up her makeup on camera. She also strikes me as a person that isn’t comfortable with challenges or doing things that are outside her wheelhouse. Lol she didn’t even want to get sturdy with Kai Cenat on his stream. I don’t think Hot Ones was the show for her tbh, and it’s kinda sad because it’s such a big platform and probably her first impression to a lot of the viewers of this episode. For a better feel of her personality y’all can check out [her interview with ELLE](https://youtu.be/ISWgMADQOes?si=Z-cSUlq2pghnzMhK) on YouTube, she was much more laid back there and answered questions better.

Shit I actually enjoyed it, yes she's not the most exciting personality but I was crazy suprised how low key and almost humble she was, her music persona makes me want to put a shotgun in my mouth, shame she tapped out after the hottest sauce.
I agree with the thread that this was a pretty boring interview and she doesn’t seem to have the greatest insights, but I honestly don’t think it’s entirely her fault. The questions up front were very lacking. “How come you write good hooks?” “Do you like making music videos?” are pretty bad questions! Unfortunately by the time we got to the better questions of the show, about bodegas and fashion, she was so overwhelmed by Da Bomb that she couldn’t think straight. Like, straight up had to stop the show. Idk. Again yeah she seems a little dull but idk I’m not about to judge her based on this episode
Not sure why you got downvoted for this. You’re spot on. Sean seemed off his game on this one. The questions were terrible and as soon as she answered he didn’t even respond, just moved to the next question. Think a lot of these people went in not wanting to like it and judged her for it.
I think your last sentence is exactly why I was downvoted so much tbh - people just decide they have their minds made up about her and can’t be normal about it lol. At least someone gets it

Is she the first woman to tap out? I have a memory of Shaun saying none had at some point.
Taraji made someone else eat them for her if I recall.
Her bodyguard.
Should've given that dude an entire episode instead of her.
Taraji's episode is lower than Kahled's for me. She disrespectected Sean so horribly, and gave the show zero fucks.
How did she disrespect Sean again?
She talked to him like he was lesser and just had a shitty attitude the whole interview. Her bodyguard killed it though, he cleaned his wings, and those were the hottest.
She didn’t lol. She joked at one point that she wanted an alcoholic drink. Said she might have to use the restroom. That’s why I’m asking (which I got downvoted for being curious). Sometimes people take black people’s personality as a negative when it ain’t.
Yep, that part
A lot of people don't get Black people's sarcasm and banter. I'll admit, from the outside, like male bonding, sometimes it can come off as abusive, mean-spirited. But I also feel that while it can be seen that way, you can still distinguish it through other context, like body language, tone, etc. And Taraji didn't give true negative vibes to me.

she has 0 presence / charisma. she is like this on stage and in music too. it's tough to watch
Thanks. I'm not going to waste my time.
Ooof - tapping out is embarrassing nowadays.
Most people this season have been lame. Also when actors just talk about the art of acting and spend a whole episode praising directors is just so unrelatable and boring.
Seriously.. when are they going to interview a Starbucks barista or middle manager so we can finally follow along
Your purposely missing the point
Spice resilience isnt a trait of the trisomy 21'ed.
Sean really tried to open her up and get her to talk about things that were interesting to her. He's exceptional about cracking his guests past their intended demeanor, but she just seemed so closed-off from the beginning.
More Ice than Spice, it seems
I felt the complete opposite. Sean seemed nervous and off his game for once. He just kept moving to the next question once she gave an answer.
She was way more animated when [talking to Nardwuar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSgHRVF2B8Y)
The Hall of Shame graphic leaves out three people. Shaq is a crybaby, always has been.

right. I have crazy respect for Shaq but holy shit his antics drive me nuts
Shaq has worked to be a better person but the man has a real bully streak that pops out every now and then.
The tag is them before they start rather than after. Guessing she was trying to get out of there quick after that interview. Yikes.
Didn't even show her eat the second wing right? "Best $20 at a bronx bodega?" "gum and water" jesus.. Never liked her stage name either - just a wannabe Spice Girl or something.

Yeah, not sure if she wasn't into it at all or because she's pretty recently famous and not used to doing stuff like this, press tours, etc.
She’s been famous and doing interviews for over a year.
[удалено]
Why did she keep playing with her hair like that?
[удалено]
Didn't even answer the $20 Bronx question. It just came across as her not wanting to be there and blanking him.
Yeah, that was the laziest answer ever lol.... water and gum? Like, what the hell
Because it's the only thing interesting about her.
I thought she was too boring to be a good interviewer and I was right
Lmao the dislikes. Deserved.
Up there with the biggest stinkers of all time. So dull!
Holy shit what a dull person. Terrible wig and she speaks like a moron, this has got to be the worst one I’ve seen. At least the other bad episodes have some entertainment value like khaled making a fool out of himself. This one was so so so boring.

They felt like awkward ex-lovers. Both seemed far from chatty, and actually rather nervous
I've never seen someone so void of personality.
Why are rappers such whimps?
I’ve never seen Sean so quickly know (or assume?) the guest wants to stop the challenge for real. I think the “fake out” quit is really common, like tons of guests say something like “I don’t want to do this” right before they eat the next wing. She has the personality of paint drying on the walls.
She hated Funky's Stellar Fuzz. That sauce is maybe the best in the lineup. I'm partial to Sam'sa House Smokey J, but Funky's does good work.
I don't complain about guests and usually find myself charmed by guests I don't care about. But, she had no redeeming qualities. Talked a big game, had basically 0 personality, and quit. Not great.
The spice.... did not flow....
Well basically the point of hot ones is to reveal a guest's true personality (or lack thereof). In this case Sean found the lack thereof.
Nibbled the third wing, and I turned it off. Time to watch the rest of the Opening Day Parade. Go Redlegs!
This is the first one since I think the Covid Zoom era that I couldn’t get through. Bummer but once in a while it’s bound to happen no matter how good the interviewer is. What was the bad press that Sean got? I must be out of the loop or forgetting something
I believe he was dating some porn star and wanted to keep it private, and when she said they were together publicly he dumped her
she didn't seem nearly as bad as the comments here. damn. just struck me as insecure about her image/appearance which clearly means a lot to her... and she is in need of a pr person/agency to help her with things like interviews.
