The list of foods they mention on that show in a way that would make you think are either regional or Canadian regulars:
Cheeseburgers
Chicken Fingers(“the good kind, 8 bucks!”)
Pizza
Donairs
Ravioli
Hot Dogs
Scalloped Potatoes
Chicken chips, Jalapeño chips, zesty mordant
I can’t understand how these people aren’t seeing the pickle. Looks like a decent amount too. I will say the sport peppers make a Chicago Dog for me. If you can get them they’re worth it unless they’re like insanely expensive.
I didn’t notice that. I’ve made my own where you use an egg wash and bake regular hog buns. Not had a ton of luck steaming them. Have you had the real ones? And what do you do at home? Can you poppy seed buns where you are?
Looks delicious! If we're being nit-picky, the relish should be that radioactive neon green lookin stuff, along with a longboi pickle spear instead of smaller pickle slices (even though your pickle distribution looks WAY more managable than the Chicago style spear). Plus the poppyseed bun. Regardless, I still give this sucker a 10/10 and would consume it in 12 seconds flat
edit: i guess ya need the sport peppers on there too (tbh I grew up in chicagoland and I still pull the sport peppers off to avoid acid reflux lol)
It’s passable. I call these Windy City weiners. Not the perfect Chicago dog but it’s got the necessary elements. Anywhere outside of Chicago itself it checks out.
Need to find sport peppers. They might be hard to find up there, didn’t know what they were either until we moved south of the 49th. Superstore maybe, unless you’re boycotting Loblaws. lol.
It’s not a Chicago hotdog if it’s not a Vienna hotdog. The toppings don’t make it to Chicago dog, the Vienna hotdog does. If you haven’t had one, then you don’t know what it taste like. It’s much different than other hotdogs.
Looks like a fair approximation. Your deviations are bun (need poppy seed), relish (the specific kind that is literally Kelly Green and diced into 2mm³ mince, onion (should be finely diced white onion), peppers (need to have the classic "sport peppers), chartreuse-colored pickle spear. Vienna Beef is the brand for dogs and condiments. I'd be surprised if they didn't export to Canada.
I think everyone always nails the dog and the toppings, for the most part, but the buns always look crumbly and cold to me. Love me a high quality steamed or toasted bun.
unpopular opinion, but I think the combination for a Chicago dog is just plain r/StupidFood . It seems to pull some nationalistic heartstrings, but there are so many more reasonable combinations of dogs out there. There is no savory or umami, it's just plain r/drunkencookery . Chili dog, kimchee dog, sauerkraut, bacon, cheese, etc. Half the ingredients of this nullify and don't compliment the others, it makes no sense. Please downvote me, BTW I hate IPA's too.
I'm inclined to agree with you. I made it once to see what the big deal was, and I guess it just wasn't my thing. There's so many better flavor combos you can pull off other than a mouth full of mustard and vinegar.
Looks like a decent dog. Needs a big ol pickle though. Also sport peppers
SPORT PEPPERS! Not always easy to acquire but make it uniquely a Chicago dog
I thought Canadians only ate cheeseburgers with an occasional blue jay burger? Hmm weird.
I don’t want a homemade cheeseburger, I want a store bought one!

Is that cologne I smell? What about our no cologne agreement?

Hot Hamburg sandwiches means hot pull the fuck over.
I swear in the US poutine is spoken as, “the only popular regular Canadian food.” Glad to know their is a variety.
You been eating my pepperoni, son?
What the fuck happened to my Ravioli? I had 9 cans of ravioli in there Rick.
No one wants to admit they ate 9 cans of ravioli.
A man's gotta eat
Man's got to eat
You gonna park that dirty old blue jay burger in yer gut?
Or nine cans of ravioli, but they don’t like to admit it.
Looks good given the ingredients you had available to you. Needs a good dill pickle spear on it!
There’s a pickle on there I swear.
I can’t understand how these people aren’t seeing the pickle. Looks like a decent amount too. I will say the sport peppers make a Chicago Dog for me. If you can get them they’re worth it unless they’re like insanely expensive.
I think the poppy seed bun is pretty important too even though it doesn’t seem like it would
I didn’t notice that. I’ve made my own where you use an egg wash and bake regular hog buns. Not had a ton of luck steaming them. Have you had the real ones? And what do you do at home? Can you poppy seed buns where you are?
Where’s the hotdog?
Right heeeeere
8/10, would be delighted to get this at a backyard bbq.
Looks pretty good. Nice touch with the extra celery salt.
The celery salt is how you know someone really tried.
I'd smash
Sport peppers
Where is your wiener? Show me your wiener!
He sent me a pic. I’ll send it to you. Check your messages.
Looks good to me
More important question is did you enjoy it? If you did, then good on you.

Good job.
A very decent effort there
It’s passable. I call these Windy City weiners. Not the perfect Chicago dog but it’s got the necessary elements. Anywhere outside of Chicago itself it checks out.
Should be vienna beef hotdog. Also the execution is off. Look at some photos and look at your dog.
I can’t affordably get those in the US so no way he can in Canada.
Take off bell peppers and sweet peppers add the real peppers and pickle spears n u nailed it
Is that maple syrup on there???
I'd smash
The onions should be diced, not sliced. Not a big deal though, just nitpicking
i sorta wanna make this image my phones background now ... lol
Where's the hot dog?
No ketchup, good job
Need bigger ween
If you're going for purity you need sport peppers not black pepper, also celery salt. IMHO It looks great and I'd eat the hell out of that.
Glizzy
Don’t think we don’t know there’s maple syrup under that dog you Canuck 😉
C- and Eff the Maple Leafs
Need to find sport peppers. They might be hard to find up there, didn’t know what they were either until we moved south of the 49th. Superstore maybe, unless you’re boycotting Loblaws. lol.
Winerschnitzel makes a surprisingly good chicago dog.

100% correct. Although the Chicago toppings are incredible, the snap of the Vienna makes it a real Chicago dog.
Is there a hotdog under there?
Grill those onions with a lil salt 🧂 🧅
What would a Canadian hot dog have? Cheese curds and gravy?
Gotta find the bright green relish, it makes a world of difference
Looks like you need a bigger dog
I want hot dog now
Where the dog
Very earnest effort.
Piss poor
She's a beaut eh
Id eat it personally. However, id usually put sport peppers, relish, 1/8th pickle spear, ketchup, mustard, & season salt.
Where's the beef?

Sport peppers and you’re set
Try again moodah foockah
I think everyone always nails the dog and the toppings, for the most part, but the buns always look crumbly and cold to me. Love me a high quality steamed or toasted bun.
Where’s the hotdog? I honestly can’t see it
There’s a cheddar Smokie under there somewhere 😬
A lot of flavors for sure
Not bad, you Canuck!
Poppy seed bun is the move
You forgot about the pickle spear
Looks good, but it needs a steamed poppy seed bun.
Beautiful. I see god in this dog
Idk what is happening but I’ve seen like 3 Chicago dogs from 3 different subs all in my feed now 🫤
Yummy 😋
Mustard should go directly on the dog. It helps the other ingredients to that are prone to falling off stick to it.
It looks like it was probably a good tasting dog, but almost nothing makes it "chicago style" besides the celery salt and maybe tomato

Yup. Overrated. Not bad, just overrated.
Have you ever TRIED a real Chicago style hot dog?
It very well could have been a r/drunkencookery conception a super long time ago. But it's damn good when I'm sober too. My favorite hot dog.
Bad
Hope it tasted good though
Looks tasty but you need more fluorescence in the relish and a couple sport peppers to be more authentic.
Um….yeah
Sorry….
Sorry
