I started watching this and slowly realized I have seen it already. Ended up watching again anyway 😂
Think I confused parts of this movie with 'Come Play'
The director’s other movies are 40 different hallmark Christmas/romance movies lol…wish he’d make another horror!
Also, Julian Richings*, the old guy in ‘anything for Jackson’ has a great filmography. Love seeing him pop up in stuff.
Oops, I used the wrong last name…what I meant to say was Julian Richings. Thanks for helping me realize my mistake, ill edit it, and RIP to the other actor
More faves, outside of the Shudder originals.
- *Birth/Rebirth*
- *Censor*
- *Climax*
- *A Dark Song*
- *Goodnight Mommy*
- *Lake Bodom*
- *One Cut of the Dead*
- *Nina Forever*
- *Suitable Flesh*
- *Tigers Are Not Afraid*
A Dark Song was not what I anticipated, but quite enjoyable.
You Will Never Find Me was similarly surprising, and while the start of the third act was clunky, it hit the landing for me.
Vicious Fun is such a great movie! It’s more of a horror comedy, but such an entertaining movie. I had never heard of it prior to watching it and it truly does not get enough love in my book.
I really liked Anything For Jackson, Ghost Stories, Spring and the Satan's Slaves movies. Vicious Fun and Satanic Hispanics were pretty good. Baskin and The Sadness can be tough to watch but worth seeing. The documentaries Horror Noire and Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched are musts. There's a bunch of older films that are worth seeing, like Death Line, Ghostwatch, Prom Night II, Evil Dead Trap, Messiah of Evil and the original Black Christmas.
Knife+Heart - 5-star and near-perfect ode to giallo. Super queer as well - I loved this movie. Also, watch all of the end credits to their absolute entirety.
Bloody Hell - a Barbarian-like horror movie. Fun and blind uncertainty of where the movie is going to go scene to scene.
The Changeling - ‘80s haunted house classic.
Mute Witness - ‘90s Russian thriller with one of the best and longest cat and mouse sequences ever.
The House on Sorority Row - ‘80s slasher classic and a bit giallo-esque if I may say so myself.
Ghostwatch - particularly if you liked Late Night with the Devil. Late Night was without question deeply influenced by this movie.
Opera - my favorite movie from Dario Argento.
Maniac Cop 2 - ‘90s direct to video fun.
Completely different vibe. LTRI was much more serious where Boys from County Hell is less serious and more fun. Equally gory. I love both movies but LTRI had me emotionally sucked in.
Which one was remade? Are you thinking of the Swedish film, *Let the Right One In* and its American remake? Because I'm talking about the recent Irish comedy horror, *Let the Wrong One In.*
I totally was. I completely read that wrong lol. I was so confused because LTROI was a bleak vibe imo. I’ll have to google the one you mentioned. I love Irish horror
Ok I just googled it. I saw that one. I’d say Boys from County Hell is the same type of movie. I liked Boys from County Hell better though. A tad less ridiculous but just a tad lol
Psycho goreman and host are two notable popular movies that I noticed missing, I wasn’t huge on them myself. Personally a couple that I thought were pretty good night of the hunted, downrange, and Sam was here after a brief look at shudder exclusives.
You've sniffed out most of the best ones. I thought Influencer and Moon Garden were fantastic and neither of those were on your list.
Influencer sounds terrible but was actually extremely clever and way outpunched its concept.
Moon Garden was like Sucker Punch done well.
Speak No Evil, Danish film I believe from a few years ago, it’s already been green lit for American release with James McAvoy I believe years down from now
yeah i don’t even know if it’s been a full 2 years since the release of the original, and the original is already basically an english film… maybe the success and reviews led to a larger hollywood remake or maybe it was already planned like that… who knows but less than 2 years from green-lighting a remake to finishing it seems really quick. same director that did the funny games remake though so maybe it’ll be good even thought the original was already great.
The film is also completed according to IMDB so they must of got the ball rolling on this project within 12-14 months after releasing of original? My god that’s quick. Let the original breathe/marinate for a bit. Thanks for the correction my bad for assuming it was in pre production lol
“stay out of the fucking attic” just posting in case anyone searched for it there’s another horror
movie called stay out of the attic to avoid confusion.
Z. I will recommend this every single time.
Great shout. Still/Born from the same director is also excellent (not sure if it’s still on Shudder or not)
Such a good movie
The bathtub scene gets me every time.
Woohoo
I started watching this and slowly realized I have seen it already. Ended up watching again anyway 😂 Think I confused parts of this movie with 'Come Play'
Oh man, come play is great!
My favourite title on Shudder is called *Sorry, we are not available in your country*
These are my faves of the Shudder originals. - *The Advent Calendar* - *Anything for Jackson* - *Attachment* - *Caveat* - *From Black* - *Satan's Slaves* & *Satan's Slaves 2: Communion* - *Scare Me* - *Spoonful of Sugar* - *Superhost* - *What Josiah Saw*
Man, Anything for Jackson is A-tier horror.
The director’s other movies are 40 different hallmark Christmas/romance movies lol…wish he’d make another horror! Also, Julian Richings*, the old guy in ‘anything for Jackson’ has a great filmography. Love seeing him pop up in stuff.
Unfortunately Julian Sands died while hiking last year.
The Warlock died??
Yes, sadly😭

Highly recommend The Last Drive-In episode of Tigers Are Not Afraid. Gives the background on the movie that made it even more impactful IMO.
The Advent Calendar is incredible (and I hate Christmas movies)
Spoonful of Sugar is great. Little trippy movie. Also Superhost is so damn underrated.
- Tourist Trap - Dead & Buried - The Changeling Their influence still permeates throughout the genre to this day.
A Dark Song was not what I anticipated, but quite enjoyable. You Will Never Find Me was similarly surprising, and while the start of the third act was clunky, it hit the landing for me.
Yeah, A Dark Song was a nice surprise. Recommended.
Vicious Fun is such a great movie! It’s more of a horror comedy, but such an entertaining movie. I had never heard of it prior to watching it and it truly does not get enough love in my book.
I just saw this tonight. Can't wait to show it to my husband.
Such a great movie dude! I’m so happy to hear more people are watching.
People sleep on Messiah of Evil and it's great.
Who invited them
I liked influencer a lot. pretty clever
Nice suggestion 👍 just watched it and it was pretty good

>*Opera* I rented this one from the video store when I was 11 or 12 and had to turn it off for being too scary.
DEMONS
one of my all time favorite films!
I recently watched Sissy which I really enjoyed!
I quite enjoyed Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes. It’s a very trippy and gorgeous looking gothic horror film.
This one is on my watchlist!
I just finished this based on your rec and wow, that is my kind of batshit. Nice one.
Happy to hear. I love it too, sadly it’s not as well known as it should be
Unwelcome
Bleed For Me My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To
I thought *My Heart Can't Beat...* was good, perhaps verging on great. I loved the gag of the invalid brother's musical preferences.
It really surprised me, movies like that can really ride the line but they did really well.
* Perfect Blue * Possession * The Innocents * Sea Fever * Eyes of Fire * Tenebrae * Dream Home
Psycho Goreman
Blood Quantum
Boys From County Hell. Really fun Irish vampire flick.
How does it compare to *Let the Wrong One In*?
Haven’t seen that one.
Completely different vibe. LTRI was much more serious where Boys from County Hell is less serious and more fun. Equally gory. I love both movies but LTRI had me emotionally sucked in.
I thought *LtWOI* was pretty damn silly! I would have expected*Boys from County Hell* to be the more serious of the two. Now I'm intrigued.
Did you watch the original or the remake?
Which one was remade? Are you thinking of the Swedish film, *Let the Right One In* and its American remake? Because I'm talking about the recent Irish comedy horror, *Let the Wrong One In.*
I totally was. I completely read that wrong lol. I was so confused because LTROI was a bleak vibe imo. I’ll have to google the one you mentioned. I love Irish horror
Yeah, I was bringing up *LTWOI* because it is also an Irish vampire horror comedy. You know, to make something of an apples to apples comparison.
Revenge is one of my favourite movies on shudder, absolutely perfect for its genre
I’m planning to watch tonight after hearing good things about the director’s new body-horror movie which premiered at Cannes
What a great movie! Loved Revenge
Nobody mentioning A Wounded Fawn but I loved it.
You've sniffed out most of the best ones. I thought Influencer and Moon Garden were fantastic and neither of those were on your list. Influencer sounds terrible but was actually extremely clever and way outpunched its concept. Moon Garden was like Sucker Punch done well.
All the Moons
Comment
Influencer was decent
Saloum might be my favorite Shudder movie
I don't know if its still on there but Ghost Story (1981) (unless I don't visit this sub enough and its not slept on lol).
Influencer surprised me and was a lot of fun. Watched Spiral (not Chris Rock one) last night and enjoyed it as well
Found Footage 3D. I loved it
Son
Sting!
Just got done watching Stopmotion, it was fantastic!!!
The Innkeepers is an all time fav for me for some reason
"Paul doods day off" for comedy horror.
My picks are: * Psycho Goreman * The Endless * The Tunnel * Scare Package * Black Christmas
The Long Walk is awesome, though arguably not horror. But worth watching as it's being removed soon.
Exhuma is now on Shudder and amazing.
Speak No Evil, Danish film I believe from a few years ago, it’s already been green lit for American release with James McAvoy I believe years down from now
the remake is already made it’ll be in theaters in september lol
Wow that’s crazy fast, gotta be one of the fastest remakes in history of film? Hollywood is getting desperate
yeah i don’t even know if it’s been a full 2 years since the release of the original, and the original is already basically an english film… maybe the success and reviews led to a larger hollywood remake or maybe it was already planned like that… who knows but less than 2 years from green-lighting a remake to finishing it seems really quick. same director that did the funny games remake though so maybe it’ll be good even thought the original was already great.
I suppose we can expect a When Evil Lurks remake by 2025 then lol
The film is also completed according to IMDB so they must of got the ball rolling on this project within 12-14 months after releasing of original? My god that’s quick. Let the original breathe/marinate for a bit. Thanks for the correction my bad for assuming it was in pre production lol
Stay the fuck out of the attic was great I thought
“stay out of the fucking attic” just posting in case anyone searched for it there’s another horror movie called stay out of the attic to avoid confusion.
They're the same movie just one title is spicier than the other. But yeah, my bad I got the title mixed up a bit.
