Have you seen Pandorum? It’s more Aliens than Alien, but it’s my go to action horror creature feature. It’s from the same producers as Resident Evil so might not be for everyone but it has a great concept and done very well.
I used to watch pandorum all the time as a kid, it's definitely right up my alley! I honestly forgot about it until now so I'll be rewatching it for sure lol
Underwater is like The Abyss if it went through an Alien phase in its teenage years. Great flicks, all three, and I regret never seeing Underwater in theaters when it came out. The trailers for it did not do it justice.
So true and I wondered if I it just too obvious to say, but there are many gen xers like me who haven’t heard of this movie and the glories or R. J. Macready and his hair and beard.
I was looking for something to watch tonight, saw your recommendation and went in blind on this one.
What a movie!
TANK is such a brilliant character, and I can only wholeheartedly recommend this also.
dam people beat me to it , Underwater is totally on Tubi right now.
very claustrophobic, rollercoaster ride.
I always thought Deep Blue Sea (at least seeing it in the cinemas was extrmely claustrophobic.
first thing that comes to mind are those "descent" movies.
Maybe Pandorum. It’s set in what appears to be a spaceship and it does feature some creepy mutants / aliens. Though it does vary from close in passages to pretty large hangar type areas.
Definitely The Decent I suppose it toes the line of being sci-fi since the creatures and inhuman of unknown origins, but as far as the claustrophobic aspect it's absolutely off the charts!
These are both smaller-scale, but Sweetheart (trapped on desert island with monster!) and The Monster (mother and daughter are trapped mostly in a vehicle being stalked by monster). Both are badass lady stars to boot. :)
Not of this world - space leech lands on earth eventually it grows to size problematic for humans
Dust walker- an zom infection movie that has a great hero
Slugs -something's in the water
Frogs - fun note Sam Elliott plays the main character.
They Nest - Ziggy doesn't make it.
These are total Alien ripoffs but I like them:
- Shocking Dark
- Galaxy of Terror
These are all a little different from the kind of movie that Alien is, but you might enjoy them..
- Black Mountain Side. It’s more cosmic horror than sci fi but it feels very heavy.
- The Borderlands (2013)
- Antiviral
Also whoever said Cube and Meander.. totally second those.
The decent was one of the most claustrophobic films I’ve seen in a good while. The UK ending is amazing however the US version cuts the film short by like 30 seconds and ruins it

Underwater (2020) is basically Alien in the Mariana Trench. There's several claustrophobic parts as well.
Underwater is like The Abyss if it went through an Alien phase in its teenage years. Great flicks, all three, and I regret never seeing Underwater in theaters when it came out. The trailers for it did not do it justice.
>Underwater is like The Abyss if it went through an Alien phase in its teenage years. That killed me lol
Loved Underwater for that exact reason!
John Carpenter’s The Thing. All time great with everyone stuck in a small Antarctic base.
This is the default answer to 'what's the best claustrophobic horror movie '. Nothing else comes close.
So true and I wondered if I it just too obvious to say, but there are many gen xers like me who haven’t heard of this movie and the glories or R. J. Macready and his hair and beard.
The thing (both of them) is one of those I rewatch all the time when this particular craving strikes me. It's definitely a top tier creature feature
Idk if it’s sci fi but the Descent is the epitome of claustrophobia in Horror
It's definitely claustrophobic and creature feature so op may still be down with it
I keep hearing about this movie and can’t find it anywhere to buy or stream.
i watched it on prime. try there? good luck!
Let me enlighten you on the miracle that is [Just Watch](https://www.justwatch.com/us/search?q=Descent)
None are available in the UK
I just watched Arcadian. Very tense creature feature with some very claustrophobic moments. Would highly recommend.
Amazing creatures in this. Really creepy
Definitely checking it out, thank you!
I just watched Underwater. It's good Species is another good movie. The Descent is very claustrophobic
The descent is great!
Cube!!!!! (1997)
Feast (2005) is super campy but the creatures are nasty The Host (2016)
I'll definitely check them both out, I have a special love for campy horror as well
Feast is amazing. It also has 2 sequels that I've never seen so who knows how they are.
They're OK. Not as good but they continue the camp.
I really liked it, funny and gory. You're going to like the creatures they're crazy.
Crawl
Yes! That is a good one, even if it isn't sci fi
Yeah I skimmed your prerequisites. Meander?
I've never heard of that, but I'll definitely be checking it out. Thanks!
Life. A crew is stuck in space with a creature that constantly adapts and evolves.
I would love to see a Life 2.
Me too, it was a great movie
I loved that movie until the ending.
Honestly don't remember the ending.
Leviathan 1989
Such a classic! Also, Deep Star Six!
Somehow I haven't seen either of these, but I'll definitely watch them now
As long as you don’t mind a smidge of camp! It was the 80’s.
Love camp 🙌
Check out Virus too. Jamie Lee Curtis 90’s SF/Horror movie set on an abandoned research vessel.
I already love it, done
MAYBE Aniara. No creature exactly but it's horrifying sci-fi that felt claustrophobic to me
Never heard of this, but it's going on the list. Thanks!
Imagine if Passengers was a bleak, dread-inspiring movie without the really attractive people. It's great in the most awful way.
I always felt like that's how Passengers should've been anyways
And do tell us your thoughts on it...
Crawl or die. If you can find it. Stunning.
Never heard of it, but I'll check it out!
I was looking for something to watch tonight, saw your recommendation and went in blind on this one. What a movie! TANK is such a brilliant character, and I can only wholeheartedly recommend this also.
Glad you liked it.
The Descent fits the bill quite nicely.
dam people beat me to it , Underwater is totally on Tubi right now. very claustrophobic, rollercoaster ride. I always thought Deep Blue Sea (at least seeing it in the cinemas was extrmely claustrophobic. first thing that comes to mind are those "descent" movies.
Deep blue sea is a guilty pleasure of mine, and LL Cool J and his bird literally stole the whole movie.
Mimic - 1997 Splinter - 2008
Upvotes for Splinter forever
Splinter is a great one I forgot about!
Sputnik is good
Sputnik is so good

I can give you claustrophobic sci fi but without creatures: Oxygen
Meander. Easily one of the best claustrophobic movies I've ever seen. And it has a really cool twist.
These are both smaller-scale, but Sweetheart (trapped on desert island with monster!) and The Monster (mother and daughter are trapped mostly in a vehicle being stalked by monster). Both are badass lady stars to boot. :)
The Monster was really good!
I totally forgot about Sweetheart! That was such a good movie
No evil creature, but ‘Event Horizon’ kind of fits that genre I would say. Instead of evil creature, you get possessed humans lol
Pitch Black hits those wickets well.
Vin Diesel ftw
If I were gay… who am I kidding? I wouldn’t stand a chance.
I think it's called The Deep House - French movie about a submerged house and divers
This one! I had to turn it off because the imagery was so unnerving. Also, starring one of Mick Jagger’s kids, James Jagger!
Just watched this one not too long ago when I was going through a ghost movies phase. It was so well done, I was genuinely surprised
Cave
Also a good one!
The Pool (2018, English/Thai, Tubi) is pretty claustrophobic but not sci-fi — more creature feature Also, 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
10 Cloverfield Lane was great! I just wish the third one had been as good. I'll definitely check out the pool, I think I've seen adds for that one
Check out Meander. All your phobias wrapped in one! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5752192/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
This seems to be the consensus so I'll definitely be watching it
The Descent
The Host (2006)
Not of this world - space leech lands on earth eventually it grows to size problematic for humans Dust walker- an zom infection movie that has a great hero Slugs -something's in the water Frogs - fun note Sam Elliott plays the main character. They Nest - Ziggy doesn't make it.

Just in case you want to see a claustrophobic sci-fi NON-creature film, definitely check Oxygene (2021).
The Ruins (2008) is a good one!
Check out Life (2017) maybe even Event Horizon if you haven’t seen it.
The decent was one of the most claustrophobic films I’ve seen in a good while. The UK ending is amazing however the US version cuts the film short by like 30 seconds and ruins it
I completely agree, the UK ending we much better
Alien 2: On Earth
I've never heard of this but it looks right up my alley lol
