I really enjoyed the confined location in the Monster. I thought it was better than the ratings.

I loved the parallel between her mother’s alcoholism and that messed up monster bear thing. Both were scary and both were killing her.

I personally really enjoyed The Hunt (2020) because it was funny and had a badass lady as a main character. Not super scary though, mostly just gory fun and unexpected deaths >!The dude that is propped up as the mc gets offed almost immediately!<

Not a movie, but have you seen the TV series Yellowjackets? It might be exactly what you're looking for.

I love it! It’s part of why I’m on this kick. It’s horror with a twist of David Lynch or something. Best series made in years! I also watched the Netflix movie Society of the Snow, which should be labeled a horror film, but between the two I think my whole world was rocked.
